The restaurant is located near the well known Chong Pang Nasi Lemak, at the end of a row of old looking shophouses. It is a branch of the well known Auntie Kim's chain, serving reasonable priced korean food. The restaurant was decorated in a simple and clean cut way.We started the meal with Banchan, also known as side dishes. These side dishes are free and refillable.Marinated shredded carrot and onionsYellow pickled radish (Danmuji) 단무지Tuna pancakes (Chamchijeon) 참치전, topped with tomato ketchupMarinated spinach (Sigeumchi-namul) 시금치나물Crabstick SaladKimchi 김치The favourite turned to be the crabstick salad which was creamy and rich in taste, with broccoli in it. The side dishes were not bad and we had refills a few times.Doiji-Bulgogi ($15) Pork BulgogiThin slices of pork marinated in special sauceServed in a small hotplate dish, the meat piled up like a hill. The meat was tender and tasted spicy and flavourful.Japchae ($16)Stir-fried Korean glass noodle with vegetableThe dish was flavourful with crunchy vegetables.Fried chicken wings ($30)Korean-style fried chicken wingsIt was the most disappointing dish out of all the dishes ordered. The fried chicken pieces looked like deep fried seafood fritters, as they were like deep fried balls. One of the pieces turned to be undercooked, with inside raw and bloody. We told the staff about it who did no action about it.Samgyetang ($25)Spring chicken stew, stuffed with Korean ginseng root, glutinous riceThe chicken was fork tender, while the soup was flavourful and rich.Overall the food was not bad, except for the fried chicken which was disapponting. I was also disappointed with the way the staff handled the feedback from us, with no action. Maybe because the place was packed with the dinner crowd. Hot tea was refilled often. continue reading
