This is particularly true of scissor-cut curry rice, which has to be one of the sloppiest looking dishes ever, but also happens to be one of my fav...

Never judge a book by its cover. As all Singaporeans know, beach road scissor cut scissor is famous for their messily nice curry rice with overwhelming sauce being poured over. Be it having it at the stall itself or tabaoing it back home, their rice is a must for me (comfort food). Had it tabaoed for dinner yesterday, leaves me yearning for more! As im someone that doesnt really like fried chicken wing so i went for their chicken cutlet, deep fried prawn, egg and of cuz their chap ...

My colleague drove us to this famous Beach Road Scissor-Cut Curry Rice that he highly raved about! He says this is the authentic Hainan style curry rice lol Being a Hainanese myself, i'm definitely intrigued to try this out!!! As expected there was a queue but service was fast tongue . We ordered and got our dishes delivered over fast! There was so much food, we had the fried eggs, chicken cutlet, curry chicken and cabbage! My favourite is definitely the curry chic...

You can select the variety of side dishes to have with your the curry rice, my favourite being, 1 serving of Pork Chop and 2 servings of cabbage! The stall holders are very generous with their servings so be careful not to over-order!Although it looks all brown, gooey and sloppily mixed, it is simply one of the most divine meals that I will constantly crave for, that sometimes I go back once a month to satisfy my tastebuds! The best thing? This plate cost me less than $5! ...

We ordered the Scissor Cut Curry Rice. The place is old and run-down but with the crowds of regular patrons for years... and they open till late too! smile I have always past by this place many times but never ever stopped to try it because the storefront of the restaurant wasn't appealing. Well, there's always a first! After ordering and trying, I realized it's not to my preference of taste as it's too soggy and like pasty texture. The vintage crowd would like it, I gu...

This is humble Singaporean comfort food at its best. Simple, not-at-all-pretentious, home cooking that our forefathers swear by, this stall is a few steps down from my former church and it was a favourite lunch destination for my family on Sundays. You can order meat and vegetable items to be piled on your plate of steamed rice or you can have the items as side dishes served in portions according to the number of people sharing them. I'm not a big fan of cabbage but the braised cab...

I was walking along Jalan Besar in search for good food and found this old, humble looking, 2-story shophouse at the junction of a crossroad. In fact, Beach Road Scissor-Cut Curry Rice have been around for a very long time. It is one of the first few Hainanese Scissor Cut Curry Rice in Singapore and many hawkers have started to copy its way of using the scissor. This is probably the best thing on earth! The braised pork (lor bak) meat is oh-so-heavenly whi...

See more food reviews at http://thehungrybunnie.blogspot.com Everything looks a gooey mess but trust me, it's lip-smackingly delicious. And ridiculously cheap. Our entire meal, including a large bowl of soup, cost only 16 bucks. Must-Trys: curry chicken, stewed cabbage, braised pork belly and sweet corn with carrot and tomato soup. Also, this must be eaten piping hot. The gravies become a goopy, super starchy mess once it turns tepid.

I was introduced to this stall by a friend who has been eating this curry rice since a decade ago. It has since expanded its shop space to accommodate the ever present crowd and queue. It is a simple, no frills coffee shop that takes you back to the 1980s and is an easy 10 minutes walk from farrer park MRT station. The curry is thick and flavourful and is poured over your rice together with a sweet gravy. I know it sounds a little odd, and honestly, it isn't a very pretty sight, but the t...

After trying many several stalls selling scissor cut curry rice, i must say none of them came close. Very much its due to the sauce combination especially the sweet sauce which is more starchy than others. Also i realized that the cabbage, pork belly meat, pork chop and fried egg are all drizzled with that same dark colored sweet sauce. Went with 2 other colleagues for lunch, so we ordered ala carte dishes by small plates to share. Both of them were impressed with the messiness of the dishe...
