Bengawan Solo is the cake, pastries and cookies specialist. Their signature range includes this kueh lapis that i've just bought! This quarter piece of cake cost S$12.50. It's consider quite expensive i suppose because it's due to the amount of effort needed to make this kueh lapis. It's made up of layer by layer..It tasted quite good. Not too sweet and in fact it tasted a bit salty to me. Smell is fragrant and texture very soft. continue reading

Bengawan Solo has a wide range of Nonya Kueh. The wide variety includes kuih lopis, kuih bugis, ang ku kueh, kueh dada and so on. Kuih Lopis is one of their favorite items and many times when I were there after 8pm, the tray of Kuih Lopis would be sold out.Kuih Lopis is made from glutinous rice. It looks like rice dumpling but the difference lies in the no ingredients within. It is made purely of glutinous rice, coconut and gula melaka syrup. The glutinous rice is cooked to a soft texture then coated with fresh coconut. It is best eaten with gula melaka syrup and it simply melts in your mouth.I$1.10 per piece that comes together with a packet of gula melaka. However, if you have a sweet tooth, you can ask for another packet. continue reading
