Another food-tasting session held at Blackbird Bistro + Bar thanks to Yummypin! For those who don't know, Blackbird Bistro + Bar is a New Zealand inspired cafe that offers a wide variety of NZ inspired dishes. They also have happy hour from 4-8pm and you'll be sure to get selected alcohol at discounted prices! We were given a variety of dishes to sample, and boy were they mind-blowingly good. Most of the items came with a certain East meets West fusion which tickled my taste buds, and they were priced really affordably too!Blackbird Bistro + Bar6 Handy Road(S)229234 (You might pass it by on your way to The Cathay from Plaza Singapura)Opening Hours:Lunch: 11:30am - 3pm dailyDinner: 6pm - 10:30pm dailyBrunch: 10am - 5pm dailyHappy Hour: 4pm - 8pm dailyBar Snacks till 11pmCarrot and Tomato Soup - $7.90 (Small plate portion) / $11 (Regular portion)(Pureed carrots and pureed tomatoes soup, served with Toast)Balsamic Tuna - $12(Seared tuna steak with mango salsa and balsamic glaze)Blackbird's drumlets - $10 (FAVORITE)(Chef's fried spiced chicken drumlets with sweet chilli sauce)Crispy Pork Belly - $10 (FAVORITE)(On pea puree, tempura onion rings and spicy miso sauce)Marc's Kiwi Burger - $18 (FAVORITE)(Secret spiced beef patty with lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and mayo on a sesame bun)Miso Cod Fish - $32 (FAVORITE)(Baked cod fish with miso, served with parsnip puree, sauteed baby spinach and tempura courgette flower)I was really trying to limit the number of "favorite" dishes I had, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. One of the main highlights of the tasting session was definitely the Miso cod fish, which literally melted in our mouths. Thumbs up to the crispy pork belly and Marc's kiwi burger too! I don't usually gush about cafes like that, nor did they pay me to write this post, but the food served were really impeccable. I'm pretty sure I'll return for them again! Thank you once again to Yummypin Singapore and Blackbird Bistro + Bar for the invite! continue reading

Recently went there with a few colleagues for lunch. Tried their set lunch specials. I ordered the Seafood Risotto which was great, with flavourful stock and scallops fresh and cooked just right. My colleagues enjoyed their orders as well. Ambience was relaxed and nice.I was introduced to this place by this food app called WOMP which can be found at:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.womp.womp_app&hl=enThe set lunch specials were featured there and you could get more info there. continue reading

I often walked past the place on the way to the gym on sundays and the place is often full!! For ppl who eat late this is a great brunch place as weekend brunch menu is available till 6 pm. I had the eggs benny, and u can choose mushroom or ham and i had the previous. Dish was tasty n fresh with eggs superbly done at just runny yolks. The greens were a great side and had a tangy sauce on it. My friend had a scrambled eggs with mushroom which came with toast n baked beans. Simple n good without too much oil. continue reading

Met up with Angela & Ivy for the Night Festival @ Singapore National Museum. Angela suggested dinner at the Blackbird Cafe which s located at The Luxe, in-between Plaza Singapura & The Cathay.Seafood Chowder is creamy & full of ingredients! *portion is huge, so I suggest sharing itMussel Fritters is nice. It has the "oyster omelette" feelingMini Lamb Burger with Fries. The only complain is the portion is quite huge despite of being "mini". Lamb patty is nicely done & no smell. Pull Pork Sandwich with Fries. Pork is well marinated & nicely done. Juicy & tender. Coleslaw at the bottom of the pork gives the crunchy feel. Nice continue reading

The ambience of Blackbird Café was simple yet passes off as modern, which makes this a great place for quiet catching up with friends. The usual breakfast stuff like eggs benedict and pancakes are available but it is not a all-day brunch place. We decided to have the nibbles and ordered the crunchy chips priced at around $8. They were surprisingly addictive and good and I kept eating them because they were crunchy and not the least soggy. They also went well with dips provided. continue reading
