My ex-colleagues had organized a dinner cum drinking gathering over at Brotzeit located at The Star Vista on Tuesday (30 April 2013). For anyone who wish to have their meals at this place (Especially dinner), it would be best to call them and make reservation. When I was there, there were a lot of people queuing for their turn to dine in this place. Luckily we had make reservation as we had a bigger group of people eating. The restaurant was quite big as it uses both in-house (With Aircon) and outdoor area for customer to dine at the restaurant. Space between each tables were still consider ok though the place can be quite noisy with all the customer trying to fight with each other with their loud voice while trying to chat with their friends. The staff there were nice and friendly who will introduce some of the drinks if you were unable to make up your mind.A lot of people came here due to their beer and of course their house special which was the pig knuckle. We order some draft beer (During happy hours) and to our surprise, these was served in very big beer glass.Unlike those pizza that we had over at pizza huts, these were square shape and was more crispy and full of ingredients. The pizza includes Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, Bacon, onions, vine ripened tomatoes and chilli. This was one of the best dish and the biggest that I had eaten so far. The platter recommend 4 to 5 pax to eat it but since we are Asian, I think up to 7 pax can have this meal and still will be just nice or full to all. From this platter, the main dish were Pork Knuckle, Different varieties of sausages, Pork Schnitzels (Crispy Pork Chop) and you get to choose 2 side dishes to go with the platter all for $88.00.Ente which was roasted duck on top of mashed potatos was not a bad dish to try out. The meat was very tender and not tough to eat at all. continue reading

Service : Very friendly staff and I love the fact that most of the servers were always having a very smiley face.Ambience : Cosy orange lightings always made me feel relaxed and very comfortable. On top of that, great location!! Just a few mins walk to Buona Vista MRT.How not to love Star vista, right? However I think that the seatings are too close to each other thus I can literally hear whatever my "neighbours" were gossiping about. Food : As it was only me and another friend thus we can only order 1 dish to share as we are both not very big eater. So we ordered pork knuckles, one of their signature. The portion was relatively huge for 2 to share and we didnt manage to finish it.However ,I must highlight that the pork knuckle was quite good, love the crispy roasted skin and the porky pig smell wasn't too overpowering. On top of that, it wasnt too oily and tasted good even on its own without the sauce.Beside that ,I feel that it was quite a filling meal for 2. Overall : Great experience and I will definitely go back again to try other food on the menu. For full review and more photos, please visit http://hannahchia.tumblr.com continue reading

Lunch at Brotzeit At Star Vista. We ordered the following dishes:-Chili Sausage was one of our favorite. The sausages are juicy and little spicy but not too hot. Just the right taste. We ordered Pepperoni Pizza, the crust was crispy but the Pepperoni taste was covered by the strong taste of the cheese on top. We realized the Pepperoni was too thinly slice, so we can really taste the Pepperoni. Above average. continue reading

It was my first visit to Brotzeit and 2 of us ordered the sausage platter which comes with spicy chicken sausages, Nürnberger sausages, pork cheese sausages, Weisswurst and garlic pork sausage and sauerkraut. I thought it might be better if a sunny side up is added (like the rosti in marche). If I'm not wrong, the soup is pumpkin flavoured. We sat at the outdoor area as there were no more seats indoors. The ambience was quite chill out and its definitely a good place for gatherings. continue reading

In celebration of my colleague's birthday, we have reserved the indoor seating for 4 pax. Greeted with a warm welcome by the staff as we walked up to Brotzeit. Reservation was make easy with their professionalism given a choice of outdoor/indoor seating. They have also make two calls (a one day before and few hours) before the reservation to confirmed our attendance. Service was prompt and above average. Aranciata, S$4.50. Sparkling Orange drink poured from a can.Apfelschorle (Sparkling Apple Juice), S$8.50. Imported from Germany, a refreshing cup of apple juice mixed with sparkling mineral water.Hurray! Here's the feast for tonight! Tuck in!Camembert (Breaded Camembert with Cranberry Sauce), S$12.50. Fried to golden perfection with cheese filled up, the cranberry yogurt like sauce makes a perfect pairing.Wurstelplatte (Sausage Platter for 2), S$32.50. Comes with assorted flavours of authentic sausages: spicy chicken sausages, Nurnberger sausages, pork cheese sausages, Weisswurst and garlic pork sausage and my favourite sauerkraut. Dab the sausages with some mustard sauce and some sauerkraut and it goes perfectly.Schweinshaxn (Pork Knuckle), S$36.00 are one of the top selling item from a german cuisine menu. This cripsy hind shank of grain fed pork were thick at the exterior especially on its skin is served with potato salad, sauerkraut and the delicious homemade sauce.Spargel mit Lungenbraten (White Asparagus with Grilled Beef Tenderloin), S$46.50. This is only available with a limit period (promotional item) base on the white asparagus feast.Kaspressknodelsuppe (onion soup), S$9.50. Quite translucent bowl of bland tasting onion soup, however the one that steal the show is its yammy cheesy dumping that had dived underneath the bowl of cut onion stripes. Kaiserschmarren (Emperor's Cake), S$12.50. A great choice for after meal desserts! Shredded fluffy pancakes with rum and raisins paired with plum sauce. Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel), S$12.50 is served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Even though our stomachs have been filled with the scrumptious meal earlier on, we could not resists these alluring sweet treats coming our way. This non sweet version of strudel tastes great.. The icing sugar drizzled over it is sweet but not cloying. The total damage for the night from 4 dinners. Recommendation / TipsIt would be a great dinning experience to enjoy the German draft beers at their outdoor seating. continue reading
