More to just Buttercake & Cream
Smile 7 days ago

A while ago my friend and I had already decided to visit Buttercake N Cream as I had long craved for their food, but however when we visited their Bedok Point outlet it was unfortunately closed down. Their main outlet at Sunset Way is still in operation, and on one impromptu meet up we decided to visit them for some coffee and desserts.

We were informed that the kitchen for mains was not in operation when we arrived at around 4pm; not sure is it that they do not serve mains during non-lunch/dinner hours or is it just specifically for that day, but that did not really matter since it was the desserts that we were there for anyway. We were presented a second menu that listed all the smaller cakes available, and decided to go for the Volcano Lava with another order for both of ourselves.

The Volcano Lava is a chocolate lava cake. While the melted chocolate wasn’t as flowy as expected as it was not really filled up very high in the cake, the cake soaked up quite a bit of the melted chocolate and the flavour of chocolate cake with the melted chocolate is just heavenly. Furthermore the cake was rather sturdy as it held up pretty well with all the cutting and didn’t crumble too much.

The Affogato here has more ice-cream than Espresso. The Vanilla ice-cream here is not really worth commenting much about because it is not something special, but the espresso here is considered quite strong as well. It is not really to my taste though; I prefer bitter-tasting espressos than sour-tasting ones, and the one in the Affogato here is the sour sort. Probably it would appeal to the people who prefer the more sour type of coffee.

Chocolate mouse cake
Smile 2012-07-30

This chocolate mousse cake is simply so delicious that almost all my friends also equally agreed that this is delicious and it is also one of the most sellable dessert in this restaurant. The chocolate mousse is very smooth and creamy and the thick chocolate is also very fragrant and not too sweet as well. The presentation was awesome and is great to have it with a cup of hot coffee or tea.

Food made with 100% effort & sincerity
Smile 2012-05-19

Went there with my BF for dinner on a Friday evening. We had their set dinner of :
1) Mushroom Soup
2) Dijon Norwegian Salmon (with spinach crepe and sauteed prawns)
3) Chocolate Fondue
4) Ice Lemon Tea cooler

Everything was great ! The soup was creamy and bursting with flavour, salmon/crepe and prawns were fresh and nicely cooked, the chocolate fondue was a good dessert to end the perfect meal!

The servers were prompt, attentive and smiley. Place was not overly crowded so was a nice place to chill and chat. Parking was also easy and cheap at this place. Take the alfresco seats (if it's a nice weather outside) as the aircon area can get a little crampy. It was a very pleasant experience, i am "like"-ing this place over and over ! smile

Nice hidden place to chill
Smile 2012-04-12

Went with my bf after dinner to try their tiramisu and share. Just had a heavy meal. The staff was rather friendly and provided us with very prompt service.

As the kitchen area was an open concept one, we managed to catch a glimpse of the staff doing the various desserts. From the looks of it, the staff actually put alot of effort into preparing each and every dessert. The lady was very meticulous when preparing the order. Upon seeing that, it made me feel the love and effort that is going to be put into preparing our tiramisu.

nice to hang out
Smile 2011-12-13

this is definitely a nice and cosy cafe to chill out on the weekend with some friends. although the cafe is situated among the shop houses, the ambience of this place is still great. food wise may be a little pricey but once in a while the cafe will have some set dinner promotion which is definitely worth the money.
my favourite is the chicken cutlet, deep fried to perfection and yet the meat is still juicy inside. the side dishes and desserts are not bad too

Awesome Friday Dinner
Smile 2011-03-10

If you are wondering where to go for a Friday night dinner without queues and crowds for famous restaurants for good food, this is the place to go! Had a Set Dinner for 2 at $49.90 that came with a mushroom soup/caesar salad (one portion per individual), a pork knuckle or choose 2 selected main courses offered, dessert for 2 and a drink for each!

The pork knuckle costs $38 a-la-carte price therefore decided to opt for the pork knuckle for the set meal. Ordered additional steakhouse fries and a bottle of Beer.

When the pork knuckle came, which was quite a bit of a wait, the sight of it made it all worth it. It was huge, good enough to feed 3-4 people and it was for 2! Came with 2 sides of salad and garlic bread. The star of the show had a wonderful aroma, crispy skin and most of all the taste of it was fabulous. It was quite a feat to finish the entire thing but it was oh-so-good that made us continue even though we were full! Wash it all down with a pint of ice cold beer and you got the best dinner!

Wait a minute, the show is not over, here comes dessert which is 2 scoops of ice cream on top of a warm waffle. We took rum and raisin and chocolate. Excellent sweet end to a wonderful meal! Definitely going back there!

But the restaurant seating indoors is very limited especially if you are heading there with a big group of friends but they do have outdoor seating with a great ambiance too!

Pardon the poor quality of the photos which did no justice to the food! mad

This is a small, cosy cafe. Atmosphere and ambience is relaxing, great for chilling out with friends. There is both indoor seating n outdoor (al fresco) seating.

The food and drinks served are nice. The dessert especially, sweet looking also.

Sadly, we did not get to try the delicious looking cakes as we were all too full after the main course.

Best thing about this cafe is that they serve souffle, which is quite rare to find in SG.

And yes, I will return to this cafe, whether is for proper meal for their main course or tea break for their cakes and pastries.
