It has been a long time since I tried the Mee Goreng at this small restaurant and I am glad I wasn’t in for a disappointment. I placed an order at the counter and went to get seats while the cashier told me that my food will be delivered to me.I waited around 5-10 minutes. It was worth the wait. The Mee Goreng ($6.30) came with an egg and chilli sauce. The chilli sauce is not added in which is good because it might be too spicy for people who don’t take or like chilli in their food. I mixed the chilli in for the extra oomph in the noodles. It is quite similar to the tzi char version but the noodles are darker and definitely more flavourful. It has prawns and bits of fish in it which were a bit chewy. There is not a lot of ingredients, just right to allow you to enjoy the noodles and the taste without being disrupted by too many different tastes and textures. It is a saltier and not as dry compared to the Indian Mee Goreng. The standard of the food has not dropped which is good to know and I would continue to return for more! continue reading

I went to red ginger for dinner. I ordered their fish head curry and gado gado. The fish head curry was super shiok, the portion was pretty large for two people to share. The fish head was very fresh, you can taste the sweetness in the meat. The curry is very thick and flavourful. It is not too spicy as well but it goes absolutely well with rice. there were quite a lot of vegetables in the curry too, I was very satisfied. The gado gado was really good, simply adore the sweet chilli sauce, not too spicy but had a tinge of sourness. continue reading

I went to red ginger for dinner with my girlfriend. I ordered their crispy chicken with sweet and sour sauce. It was really good. the chicken was very crispy and the meat as very tender, not dried up. There were a lot of other ingredients like cucumber, onions and pineapple fried together with the sauce. It went really well with rice, the sauce is not too sweet, nor is it too sour. It cost a reasonable price of $5.90. I think I will go back and eat it again. continue reading

This halal cafe at IMM has always been busy, from several years ago until now.The variety of dishes leaves you spoilt for choice and the taste is very good. Most recently, we tried the Penang Fried Kway Teow and Nasi Goreng. The Fried Kway Teow contained chicken sausage, fish cake, bean sprouts, vegetable and egg. It was not spicy, as requested. The Nasi Goreng was fried with vegetables, egg and anchovies. It came with a piece of fried chicken as well.Although both dishes tasted very good, the portions were really small. When compared with visits in the past, this time, there seemed to be quite a big difference.Based on the small portion, the price did not seem to be very reasonable, though. The service was fast and friendly. However I will think twice about what I order the next time. continue reading

Cafe Red Ginger for lunch! It is not the typical halal café we see that just focus on serving mixed veg rice. They also sell several unique dishes! I particularly love their Penang fried kway teow 炒粿條)! They do not use the typical black sauce, but their house sauce which is very tasty! Great lunch continue reading
