My dad said he wanted the family to try some exotic food, so we all headed to cappadocia café restaurant for a meal. They serve turkish food. It was really delicious. we ordered their turkish pizza: pastirma kasarli and kiymali yumurtali. It tasted really good. the pastirma kasarli is actually roasted sliced lamb pizza with mozzarelle cheese and egg, while the kiymali yumurtali pizza has minced beef toppings with mozzarella and egg. It turned out to be really delicious. I never thought I would love turkish food so much. Yums!

Turkish Delight

Had a gathering because my expatriate from 13 years ago came back to Singapore to visit us. To enable our Muslim ex-colleagues to join us, we chose this restaurant because it is halal.

I ordered a pizza hawaiian at $15.90. Love the crispy thin crust and the generous supply of cheese. Being a Turkish restaurant, the food comes with a slight middle eastern taste...so the pizza comes with some spices that I can't really point out. But I can assure you that you won't find this kind of taste elsewhere. Very unique!

Next in line is the Chicken shish kebab at $16.90. The rice is yummy and the chicken was well cooked. The taste was further enhanced by the sauce they used to grill the meat.

The service crew were really friendly and patient as the bunch of us couldn't decide what to eat. We ended the dinner with a shisha.

Cappadocia Café Restaurant
Just OK 2011-11-02

It was featured on a magazine so we went for a try
We ordered Turkish version of pizza with sliced roast lamb, mozzarella & egg
I liked the fresh tomatoes on the pizza & the egg gave a rich & creamy finishing touch.
Another must try is their Turkish coffee,it was really strong & thick,
Doner Iskender is one of their famous dish
with sliced chicken kebab on a pile of bread cubes, topped with a sweet chilli sauce & yogurt
the e combination of the sauce & yogurt was creamy & sweet
Overall i rate 7/10

This cafe has great food. 5 of us went there for lunch at about 1 pm on Sunday and we tried different dishes.

One of the most memorable dishes is the DONER ISKENDER (slices of grilled chicken Doner, served on a bed of pide bread topped with special tomato-yoghurt sauce). The tomato yoghurt sauce was served to the right degree such that the taste complements the meat nicely. The bread was also nice whereby they did not soak it too much with sauce.

The other dish would be KAPADOKYA BIFTEGI (beef steak that is artfully prepared and seasoned with the right ingredient and topped with mash potatoes soaked in delicious brown sauce) which is very tender. When we ordered medium rare steak, it really came as medium rare. The meat is well marinated such that you can taste the flavour up to the middle of the steak.

We ordered PIDE(plain bread) too. Although it's just a plain bread, it was served at the right warm temperature. And the sesame seed on top of the bread gave additional sensation to the bread.

We ordered their cheesecake and tiramisu. The cheesecake was perfect to my taste since it is not too cheesy. There are some cheesecakes that you get sick of eating after a few bites, but you can go on with this one. The tiramisu was great as well. It is still a mystery to me how they made the tiramisu without using alcohol, especially since their food is supposed to be halal. I tasted a tinge of cherry syrup or so as a replacement to the alcohol.

Their service is good. When I gave them a miscall to make reservations, they called me back promptly. The chef cum manager was also very helpful. When I went to ask for the staff's help to prepare a birthday surprise for my friends, he was very accommodating. He personally served the cakes with candles to our table at the cue I gave to him.

Nevertheless, for the sumptuous food you get, the price is very reasonable and the service is really great. The downside is, however, they are rather underhanded. There was only 1 waiter, 1 prep cook and the chef cum manager in the whole restaurant. So, we had to wait for at least 20 minutes before the food got served. As the saying goes, the best spices for food is hunger.
