Most people know this place for their soups, artisan breads and sandwiches, but did you know that they serve mains too? And All-Day Breakfasts here too, hooray! I tried their crab meat pasta, and it had a good portion of shredded crab meat in it. And their pancakes are absolutely scrumptious! I had the blueberry ones paired with vanilla ice cream and oh! I must go back again!

Why do they close so early on a friday night?!
    Cries 2013-04-06
I am appalled that cedele closes at 10pm on a Friday night.. Headed there for dinner with a couple of friends, and cedele seems to provide the right combination to long dinners and desserts after. Given we only got our seats at 8.30pm, the servers we're rushing the bills and clearing the plates by 9.30pm. sad

That aside, The food didn't disappoint. I haven't been to cedele in years and the only thing I remembered were their desserts. A friend had recommended the Sea Bass Lovers Sandwich ($16.80). It was a healthier choice amongst the menu. The cheese went perfectly with the walnut bread, but the fish was a tad overcooked. The sandwich would have been perfect if they had done the fish better.

All night, we saw plates after plates of cakes being dished out from the kitchen to the other tables. Sadly though, even though we were craving for desserts, the server informed us that they were closing, so no desserts for us. Cedele would have been an awesome place for a late night out since they have such fabulous desserts. They should definitely consider late night hours for weekends or Friday nights since they have good desserts to capitalise on.

    Brunch at Cedele
    Smile 2013-03-21
Its another lunch time at Celdele near my work place. Willl crave for their breakfast whenever I think of nice warm meal. Anyway, this time, I ordered rosti with poached egg instead of my usual pancakes. The poached egg was cooked to perfetion which comes with bacon strips, rosti and some tomatos and crunchy lettuces. I really enjoyed every meal that I have at cedele as I find their meal really quality and tasty and glad that I can still order breakfast during lunch time. Will be there again, definitely.

       Beef Portobello Sandwich

It's been a long time since I ate at Cedele, so I decided to takeaway a sandwich from the Wheelock Place outlet. After going through their rather limited selection, I ordered a Beef Onion Portobello Sandwich ($14.80). The beef patty was rather sizeable and juicy, and it came with a huge portobello mushroom sandwiched in between. I also enjoyed the balsimic onions which were had a tangy sourness to it and went really well with the savoury beef patty.

       Pink Lychee Smoothie

There was also a Lunar New Year promotion for a Pink Lychee Smoothie ($6.50) and although the cup was quite small, the drink was extremely refreshing! It's like a lychee party in a cup. =] Wholesome food at its best.

    Cedele in the Afternoon

I always frequent this Cedele branch as it is near to my workplace. I was craving for Pancakes and wanted to have the Cedele pancakes. I decided to order the Mushroom Onion Pancake again as what I have ordered the last time. It was still as good, there was a salad by the side of this dish with bacons and onion pancake. My friend ordered the paprika prawn risotto, I took a bite and it was really scrumptious as well. We round it off with a slice of red velvet cake with cream cheese. The cake was sweet but the cream cheese complimented the cake perfectly. It just tasted great. I did not try the other cakes. They have a whole selection of cakes, but I would definitely order their red velvet cake again in future.

    Lunchtime Chill session
    Smile 2013-01-18 (Related Review)
Had a nice Friday lunch at Cedele. It's quite a relaxing place to hang especially on a warm sunny day like today. Feels very chill.

This is the prawn risotto but this time I asked for edamame beans to be added (Love these beans). They added a new dimension to the dish and the pumpkin rice was rich and lovely. smile

Red velvet cake - It's not fantastic but still not bad. Better than many other red velvet I've tried which are not up to standard. The cake is on the dry side hence the cream cheese icing helps but I would prefer the cheese taste to be stronger.

The service can be improved on though. There was one waiter who saw me waving for his attention, yet he just walk past and ignore. Then we tried for quite a while before we can get someone to come to our table and it wasn't even very crowded. sad

    Risotto love
    Smile 2013-01-18

I like the risotto at Cedele. This one is the paprika prawn risotto with beans (I think they are broad beans). Firstly, the look of the whole dish is super appetizing! Red plump prawns piled on top of this bed of tomato base risotto and beans. The risotto was silky and full of flavour! Each bite was a party on my taste buds and I like that contrast with the crunch beans. Prawns are nicely looked and overall a very satisfying lunch. lol

    Brunch @ Cedele
    Smile 2012-11-28
I went to Cedele at Wheelock one day for lunch and decided to have breakfast for my lunch even though they have lunch dishes such as pasta, risotto, burgers or sandwiches. Glad that they serves breakfast all day. I am a breakfast fan and could even eat breakfast for my dinner or supper. Cedele has an extensive breakfast menu range I must say which prompted me to order a savoury pancake; the mushroom & eggs pancake. The food did took a while to come though, perhaps I was hungry. The pancake was accompanied by a side salad with two strips of bacons. It was a delight to my palate with some saltiness of the bacon with refreshing crunchiness of the salad which goes really well with the pancake. Overall I really enjoyed my lunch. In addition, I really like the setting and atmosphere of the Wheelock branch. It is cosy and a great place to chill out over coffee with friends or just to have a hearty meal.

    Healthier choice? Hmmm...
    Just OK 2012-10-03

       OK

       OK

Cedele has always branded itself as a place with "healthier choices". Not too sure about that cos I tend to avoid healthy food like crazy but I still find the food at Cedele pretty enjoyable.

Had the Spicy Roasted Mushroom & Garlic Pasta. Portion's a bit on the small side, guess it was OK. As for dessert I had the Strawberry Tartlet, which was quite nice; loved the base of the pastry!

    Good quality cookies
    Just OK 2012-07-30

I tried their cookies for the first time and fell deeply in love. I went back a few times to try some of their signature cookies. These homemade cookies have got a nice buttery taste and flavor with an aromatic smell. Some of my favourite cookies are Wholesome Disgestive Cookie, Orange Cranberry Cookie and Oatmeal Raisins. All these cookies came in readily packed package to be brought home. You can have them stored in your cookie jar and enjoy at home. The best way to enjoy these quality cookies are with a cup of good coffee. Such simple goodness is a joy.

Their pancakes? Why not order fast-food instead
    Just OK 2012-07-10

Ordered Wild Blueberry Pancake with Vanilla Butter & Maple Syrup which comes with choice of Bacon Rashers or Sausages. I asked the waitress what Bacon Rashers was and all she did was to reply me, "Bacon strips". It'd please me if she could explain further as to why they would not put bacon strips but rashers instead, (pardon my lack of knowledge of food), so i decided to play safe and go for sausages. The sausages were so tough to cut through with fork and knife, that I felt like I was embarrassing myself on the table (was with friends that I have not met for 16 years). There is this thick layer of skin over the sausages which I felt kind of disgusted eating it. I love the maple syrup and vanilla butter though, it makes the pancakes deliciously sweet and fragrant. However, my friend lamented that we might as well order from McDonalds because there is really nothing special about the pancake. I had a differentiated opinion because it was a scrumptious meal for me and I thought the pancakes smelled fragrant and different and it doesn't feel like it has been microwaved like what they do in McDonalds.

So the Wild Blueberry Pancake cost me $12.90, and mind you that is the second cheapest in the menu. The first is a pancake with an ice-cream, about $9.90.

My friend decided to go for the Apple Cinnamon pancake with Vanilla Butter & Maple Syrup. It also comes with choice of Bacon Rashers & Sausages and He also went for the sausages as well. I prefer the Wild Blueberry over the Apple Cinnamon because his plate had no visible traces of the Apple or the cinnamon.

Another friend made a safe decision of Romaine & Mixed Greens, Grana Padano Cheese, Sicilian Green Olives, Bacon, Egg, homemade Croutons and Cedele’s Own Caesar dressing (Caesar Supreme) costing $15. It was a huge salad mix and she managed to eat all of it. It doesn't look that appetizing, but she didn't seem to have any trouble munching on the leafs.

    blueberry pancakes with sausages
    Smile 2012-05-19
I thought fresh cooked blueberries would turn out weird but they were amazingly good. There was a tinge of sourness that came with the pancake and sweet syrup. The blueberries still had some juice remaining in them and really went well with the pancakes. The sausages were well cooked, not overly toasted with a great texture! The salad really brightened up the meal and made it more appetising. smile

    carrot walnut cake
    Smile 2012-03-05
The carrot walnut cake is Cedele’s best seller for a good reason. This cake is really a combination of everything delicious. The carrot cake is smeared with cream cheese frosting and a very, very generous amount of California walnuts chunks. Most other shops would just serve walnut crumbs, but for Cedele’s cake, you can really taste the walnuts. The cake is not too dry as well so you don’t get a drying feeling in your throat after eating it. I taste something different in their cakes as well, and I later found out that it is a hint of cinnamon spice, which I think is really indigenous of them to incorporate it into their cake. It gives it a nice contrast of taste and you really would not get sick of eating one whole large slice by yourself. I got a whole cake and it was wiped out by my family and I within 2 days!

    Good Food, BAD SERVICE!
    Cries 2011-12-06

       Blueberry Pancakes Set

       Codfish with Basil

I usually patronise the Cedele at Takashimaya but opted for a change and when to the one at Wheelock with my boyfriend. While the food was still as delicious, the service was absolutely ATROCIOUS.

Firstly, the waiter forgot to bring our menus after seating us. When we finally got someone to serve us, the waiter forgot to bring our drinks and we had to remind him. Unfortunately, even after being reminded he manage to deliver the drinks to the wrong table. He seem more interested in chatting with the cashier and other waiters. Thankfully the meal was pleasant. Also, did I mention they have all-day-breakfast which is something I love!

Sadly, the waiter took his own sweet time to get our bill and once again had to be reminded. I find it very tiresome when I’ve to remind waiters/waitresses for something. After all I’m paying service charge and I expect some sort of service at the very least. So I definitely will not be going to the Cedele@Wheelock again.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve never had this problem at Takashimaya’s Cedele. I guess different outlets have different training policies (?).

    Eat Well & Be Well!
    Smile 2011-11-07

     Adorable cafe's motto!

We needed a place to rest our feet after pattering around Orchard area for the earlier part of the evening. Cedele @ Wheelock came to our mind, despite the many options surrounding us - as we were looking for a cafe with relatively decent cakes and hopefully, a quieter location whereby we could blather in ease.

Upon arrival, we were greeted & seated relatively quickly by the window. The cafe ambience was cosy, as usual. But there's an unfortunate stench of stale fried food overhanging the cafe, thus making the visit less welcoming.

Between us, we ordered a BLT Avocado Supreme Sandwich $11.80, a slice of Carrot Walnut Cake $6, a Classic Brownie Fudge Sundae $7.90. Drinks: Cappuccino $5.50, Egyptian Mint Tea $5.50, Wolfberry Longan Tea $5.50.

       BLT Sandwich

       Yummy crispy bacon inside!!!

The BLT sandwich was a delight to tucked into. We requested for the bacon to be made crispier, and it was delivered to our table just the way we loved it!! smile The warmed foccacias bread smelt heavenly and blanded very well with the vegs inside (lettuce, tomatoes, etc). There's a handful of fresh rockets, lettuce at the side too.

       Brownie with Vanilla Ice-Cream

Brownie with vanilla ice-cream was a usually hard-to-go-wrong dish, and this brownie certainly didn't let us down. Such a happy dessert to look at too! smile The warmed brownie certainly helped to enhance the already rich chocolate flavour. Eaten together with bits of chunky walnuts inside + rich cold vanilla ice-cream (with specks of vanilla seeds on it), it simply revived your happiest childhood memories! tongue

Carrot Walnut was served with a candle (lighter provided too.. lol) upon request, as it was Otter's birthday.

       Happy Birthday with Carrot Cake!

The chunky walnuts, the almost invisible carrot, the light sourish cream at the side + the subtle cinnamon taste complimented each other perfectly and attested once again, why it's - to many people - the best carrot cake you could find in Singapore.

Desserts aside, the drinks were pretty decent. I enjoyed the Egyptian peppermint tea for its refreshing taste. However, by the 2nd pot of hot water added, the fragrance had greatly disappeared.. resulting in just a pot of very diluted peppermint water. Wolfberry Longan Tea was an interesting bland of flavours. You could smell the sweetness of red dates / longans when the tea was poured. Fortunately, it didn't taste as sweet as it smelt. Thus you could slowly but surely finished a whole pot of this comforting hot drink all by yourself. (However, I preferred the relatively similar, but sweeter / more "potent" Chinese version of longan-red dates tea.)

     Cappuccino: "Where's my cookie partner?"

Last but not least.. THE CAPPUCCINO - which brought along with it, some unhappiness. We noticed that there's no little cookie which usually accompanied the beverage. Curious, we asked the waiter "Jojo" if that's the usual practice. Jojo just gave a shrug (literately!!) and remarked that they did not have any coffee cookies left for the day. When asked if there was any other type of cookie replacements then, he just replied nonchalantly, that all the other cookies they had were too big and just walked away!!! shocked Wow... "amazing" service...

Still, Mr Jojo aside, the rest of the staff were all very friendly and helpful. 2 thumbs up to them!
We could only hope that Mr Jojo is not on duty during our next visit to Cedele @ Wheelock... lol
