Tasty braised duck rice

The queue for the stall is quite long, but possibly because of the one-woman show. With the $4 plate, you'll get more duck meat which is more recommended, in my opinion. The best part for this dish actually lies in the gravy that is liberally drizzled over the rice. The flavoring for the gravy is really very good. The duck meat itself is also very tender. As for the soup, it's just ordinary though, nothing to shout about.

What's the quack about these ducks?

I mean. The pictures say a lot don't they? smile

The orh peng. Rice cooked in braised sauce till a deliciously brown.

This is not the same as rice with gravy poured over.

Now if they would just put in some cubes of yam...

Generous servings of rice. Just 50 cent for a bowl.

And the duck?

Boneless. And oh so tender.

And you definitely need the chilli.

Auntie at the stall says you must mix them both! Only then would it be the best sauce!

Believe her. Shes been working there for the longest time.

Yummy duck rice
Smile 2012-07-13
The name of this stall attracts me to give it a try. I love duck meat, yet hating the bone part tongue I ordered the duck rice. I guess the rice is cooked in gravy that gives it such a dark colour, but tell you what, it's fragrantly yummy! The generous amount of boneless duck was served on top of the rice, with lots of gravy on it. Taste delicious, and very tender in texture. The soup given is tasty too!

Cheok Kee Boneless Braised Duck

The duck rice from Cheok Kee Boneless Braised Duck is really tasty. There duck meat is boneless and the duck meat tasted juicy and tender. It costs only $3 for the plate of duck rice and an additonal $0.50 for the braised egg. It is very reasonably priced for the satisfying portion of food to the stomach. The duck rice tasted great with the sauce spread on the rice.

Was going about buying some snacks but saw that the queue was non stop at this stall, decided to give it a try. Takes quite some time to clear a customer as it was a one man show by the lady. Overall a good wait even though it took quite some time. The portion is just right, rice is fragrant and plentiful, duck meat was tender.
