Satay Bee Hoon
Review (3)
Chomp Chomp Food Centre is one of the classic hawkercentres in Singapore where you can bring your foreign friend to introduce all kinda of hawker food. They have everything under one roof. Literally. This place is also next to Serangoon Gardens where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Bookmark this under the next place to visit for a group outing!Satay beehoon ($4) is like an extension of the satay but with more ingredients, including taupok, prawns, vegetables and of course, silky beehoon. Quite rich in flavours and more of a main dish on its own rather than a mix-and-match with the rest. continue reading

Satay Bee Hoon $4Food at Chompchomp has always been very well-known due to most stalls at the place serving very delightful bites. However, the satay bee hoon that i tried the other day was sub-par, compared to other satay bee hoon. Contrary to the review before me, i felt that the satay bee hoon was atrocious. I'm not sure if it's been 1 year since the last review or that the chef has changed or because i went down to early for fear of needing to wait for the tables, but the food was really tasteless. I went around 5.30pm when most stalls were just setting up to open and the satay bee hoon seem to be one of the few that was already open long ago. So.. Bee Hoon was normal, eatable. The peanut sauce was really questionable, it was watery and not even aromatic at all. It also felt very tasteless, like i was eating peanuts by itself. The sauce was also not absorb by the bee hoon at all. Really weird. Prawn was not very fresh and difficult to peel as the meat stuck to the shell. Cuttlefish had a funny taste, might have been left overnight ): the kangkong was okay. The service was good, i think it was suppose to be self-service? But might be because i was early, the guy served the food to our table. He was very friendly too. As it was early, the smokey stench of the place did not really hit us. Plus, it was quite windy that day. Tip: Choose the seats outside instead of in the hawker centre as the ventilation is much better. Overall, this was the worst dish that i've tried that day. I would recommend other satay bee hoon (e.g. the one at bukit timah hawker centre) than this one. Disappointing. continue reading

This satay beehoon is 1 of my fav, during peak hours you will need to wait for quite sometime before your food is serve. The price is $3/4/5 onward. i alway order the $4 satay beehoon as the potion is more and also it's too nice to resist. The sauce is full of peanut and the sauce is not watery, Hot satay sauce on top of the beehoon with some pork and tau pok. The beehoon is well cooked as it's not soft, dont like over cooked beehoon. As for service wise this is not a selfservice stall. You let them know your table number and they will serve to you. Try to avoid heavy rain days because you will have problem finding seat and most of the table and chair are wet! maybe you can do a take away and have it at home. If you are taking home they will NOT put the sauce and beehoon tgt, this is what i like about it ! your beehoon still taste good even u are having it at home ! continue reading
