I visited Coca Steamboat Restaurant years back - the one at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, and I still remember it as being one of the best steamboat places I have been to, till now.A fusion of Thai and traditional Chinese steamboat, Coca serves quality and fresh ingredients for its steamboat. One may also choose to order a la carte items or have the buffet option at SGD$42.00 per pax. We chose the latter, andselected both the Tomyum and Clear Chicken Soup.Anyway, we placed our orders and food was served shortly - an assortment of fresh oysters, pig liver, clams, chicken, beef, vegetables, enoki mushrooms, fish paste and vegetables. The ingredients were well-portioned and tasty - be it marinated meats or infused with the tasty flavors of the soup. The meats were tender and overall, the ingredients were fresh. We enjoyed our steamboat dinner at Coca Steamboat Restaurant once again - a healthy, sumptuous and very filling, balanced meal. For full review and more photographs, please feel free to visit: http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/12/dinner-at-coca-steamboat-restaurant-rws.html continue reading

Went to Coca at RWS with my sistas and thanks to Sam for making the reservation! We go for their buffet dinner $40++ per pax. Angeline ordered an ala carte fried rice ($15) for her helper and we also ordered 1 ala carte roast pork ($19). Roast pork was juicy and the skin was crispy with the cracking sound when chewing. We have 2 pot of tom yam and 1 chicken soup (for my hubby and kids), I find that the tom yum was rather bland not very spicy and as for chicken soup was quite ok but after dumping all the raw food in the chicken soup turns more sweeter. Chilli was not as good as mini steamboat delight and was not spicy enough we need to pour in chili padi to add on for the spicy level. Total spending: $ 352.30 continue reading

My evil sista who is having a staycation at RWS initiated a meet up. Few of us who are working met up with her and family for Steamboat dinner at Coca. The not very busy restaurant and their Tuk Tuk car on display at the entrance. There is no particular design theme for this eatery, just simple and functional furnishings and table arrangement. Our huge round table for 11pax. They used induction cookers for heating up steamboats, we had three pots for sharing. The menu. Ala carte prices are on the steep side, so we ordered Buffet dinner $40++ for all and one ala carte Roast pork belly dish $19++ for sharing. My Ice Lemon tea $4++, the serving was kinda smallish. Taste wise, it is passable. The delish Roast pork belly. Serving portion is pretty large and the chunky pork slices were juicy and had nice crackling skin. Good.We ordered quite a bit of different meats, seafood, veggies and homemade dumplings for sharing. Choices aren't very extensive but ingredients were pretty fresh. Our Tom Yum soup base...As usual, we over ordered and were stuffed by the end of the meal.Service level here is passable, they were prompt but not warm and friendly. Food wise is of good quality but a tad pricey for limited selections. Nothing in this restaurant left a good enough impression on me, so there is no reason for a revisit any time soon. For full review and more photos, please visit http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2013/09/steamboat-buffet-at-coca-restaurant.html continue reading

Fellow OpenRicer, happybaby03 had a staycation at RWS & invited few of us over, but due to work commitment, we couldn't make it. Thus, I suggested meeting up for dinner at Coca with OpenRicer - midas400 & piggyqinApart from having buffet dinner, we also ordered a portion of Roast Pork, which is very good and has the crackling sound when you sink your teeth into it. Chilli that is being served at the side is also very niceSelections we had includes of Fresh prawns, crabstick & all sort of ballsAlso Oysters, cockles, pork livers, vegetables, noodlesSlice beef, chicken & porkWhat's Coca hotpot without Tom Yum Soup? As I'm typing away, I realize I didn't have a sip of the sop as well Buffet menu listAll ingredients served were very fresh & the service were quite good here. Will definitely be back for more soon continue reading

After staying at RWS for one night, my friends and I decided to have our lunch at Coca, which seems to be newly opened! And for $18.90++ (student price, valid for weekdays only), I think it's quite worth it, since it's a buffet! We didn't have to queue very long even though we reached around 1pm, we got seats immediately. There wasn't much variety on the lunch menu that we can choose from, so a lot of food were repetitive for us. Fish Ravioli is quite nice though, good to try. For the meats, not sure if it's the meat or we did not cook long enough, it tasted very soft and jelly, so we stopped ordering that after one round. Prawns are quite fresh as well, we ordered quite a lot of that and saw other tables ordering that too. Taste-wise, the food was okay. Soup base was just normal as well. I like that the table was quite big to place all of the plates of food that we ordered. Service was not very efficient as we had to wait very long to get attention from the staff just to refill our water. Sometimes we even had to remind them that we need our water to be refilled! But our order came quite fast though. We also had to call for our bill twice also. One of the staff was quite rude during payment as she insisted that we should have told them beforehand that we were students and that she had already keyed in the amount to the register. Anyway the payment took around 10mins, it was very slow! continue reading
