My boyfriend and I went to Somerset where we decided to try out probably the cheapest Japanese Buffet in Singapore. Tarafuku is located at the basement of 313@Somerset and the lunch buffet costs only about $17.60++ an adult. That's very cheap if you compare it to the other Japanese buffets in Singapore. We went in and to our surprise, it was packed. So we ended up having to wait for about 20 minutes before there was a table for us.
Once we got in, we took a quick scan around the buffet spread. And when I say 'quick', it's not because we wanted to rush to the eating, but rather because the spread was very limited.
I guess we should've prepared ourselves for that, especially for the price we paid.
There was sushi, sashimi, chawanmushi, miso soup, ramen, udon, variety of salads, deep fried chicken wings, potato wedges, deep fried taro sticks, shishamo, fried mackerel, fried rice, porridge, tempura, pasta, vegetables topped with melted cheese, fried chicken cutlet, fresh fruits, ice cream, desserts, coffee, etc.
The quality of the food met my expectations, once again, considering the very low price of the buffet. However, I won't raise your expectations either by saying it was superb. Tarafuku is very much like Sakura, except you get less variety with the dollars saved.
