Was supposed to be here for my usual ban mian fix at China Whampoa Ban Mian stall when I saw the long queue at this stall. Operating with just 2 person, the guy chef will cook up the dish and the lady will handle order taking and preparing the trays. Was supposed to be here for my usual ban mian fix at China Whampoa Ban Mian stall when I saw the long queue at this stall. Operating with just 2 person, the guy chef will cook up the dish and the lady will handle order taking and preparing the trays. Yes its self-service but I was not disappointed at all since it’s well worth the 20min wait. Ordered the $4 mixed fish version (sliced fish and fried fish mixed) and had rice (30cents) instead of the thick white bee hoon. The soup came with toufu, seweed, half a tomato, fried fish, sliced fish, chai sim and fried onions. It was amazingly sweet, it’s not just the fact milk was added, I think the soup base itself is well sweetened, hopefully it’s not becoz of MSG. I would say the fish is average though but the soup taste more than make up for it. I finished the entire bowl and could taste bits of crispy bits which I suspect they added the fried bits for fried fish head to it. Initially I thought it was anchovies/ikan bilis but on close inspection I think it’s the former. Definitely return here again for this nice hawker food.
