Sometimes when I go to IKEA at Alexandra, I will make it a point to go to Poh Cheu to buy its homemade kuehs. I bought the Soon Kueh and Yam Kueh a fortnight ago and each of the kueh is 80 cents. Sometimes when I go to IKEA at Alexandra, I will make it a point to go to Poh Cheu to buy its homemade kuehs. I bought the Soon Kueh and Yam Kueh a fortnight ago and each of the kueh is 80 cents. The yam kueh is only made during Fridays and Saturdays so go on either of these days if you want to get your hands on the yam kueh. I mixed and matched two boxes of two yam kuehs and three soon kuehs. I can't really choose which is nicer as both have its unique taste. The soon kueh's filling is very fragrant and it is a mixture of shredded carrots, mang guang, black fungus and shrimps fried with garlic. The taste is really nice, the filling is not soggy and some of the mang guang is still crunchy. As for the yam kueh, it is also made with pure yam. There is no flour added. The mashed yam filling has shrimps and mushrooms and it is really tasty as well. It is very hard to find yam kuehs and soon kuehs of such standard any longer, so I will always come back to Poh Cheu to buy it. If you are not eating it immediately, it can be placed in the fridge and made hot the next morning.
