I heard that Eighteen Chefs was good but I didn't expect it to be this good. The owner was a ex convict, been to prison many times, but by the grace from God he turned a life around. Trained under Jamie Oliver, Fifteen for a couple of months and he started this restaurant. Hiring ex convict and "troubled" people as service crews and chefs. Back to their food.Their menu was consider affordable but slight pricy for the students. As for the students, you might want to consider their set lunch. You can customized your kind of baked rice. 5 Kinds of Base X 8 types of sauce X 12 Main Ingredients = 480 of variations!!!I chosed the baked rice with cream sauce and seafood. The seafood was neither overcooekd nor had a bad fishy smell. My personal favorite! The medium raw pan seared steak was so well seasoned and juciy. Stacking them up gave a great visual impact. Personally, I like my steak seasoned with S&P. But if you like, you could try their BBQ sauce with chopped Garlic and Chili. I loved their dark soy sauce fried rice. It gave me a "grandma" feeling. Every grain was covered with the dark soy sauce and fragranced with fried garlic. Simply the Best! continue reading

Though there are many makan places here, have chosen to spend my $$ on Uncle Ben instead, an a small encouragement to do the good that he pledges to do.We ordered:1) Pasta in Spicy Tom Yam Broth - my fav dish of the meal!!! I created this meal with fusilli and salmon. This dish surpassed my expectations! My salmon chunks were seared and there was a generous number of chunks in it!!! The broth is also very tangy and enough spice to be called Tom yum. Love love love it!2) Chicken Soup of the Day & Garlic Bread - the soup is honestly not bad, can see the chicken chunks but likely to be canned soup with add-on goodness. The garlic bread was also nice and I love the retro enamel plate it's served in. heh!3) Beef Bolognese - 1st that that struck me was how it had a generous  amount of beef sauce over the pasta. The sauce is a tad too sweet for my personal liking but its nice enough, nicer than some other places. 4) Kid's Meal Chicken Burger - the chicken patty is not some frozen minced junk but a lovely chicken fillet that's pan-fried nicely. Serving enough for a small adult eater or ladies wanting to watch their diet.5) Cheese Platter - fried finger food with pot of soft cheese fondue to dip in! Wonderful indulgence! Highly recommend this!!For a non-premium restaurant, it's pretty good and prices are also very decent. Plus I salute Chef Ben for his cause, how not to come!?!? continue reading

Eighteen chefs is easily spotted on the 4th level of Cineleisure, and of course you can definitely see the queue once you step out of the lift. After queuing for almost 30 mins, we headed inside and got our seats. I was quite surprise we had to queue again for the food as it was sort of 'self service' style instead of having the waiter coming to order from your table. Despite all that, the food was very satisfying and I was rather surprised yet pleased. I had the mussels agolio and my friend had the customised baked rice. We were both very please with our main course and the prices are very affordable. I had the black beauty for dessert and I really enjoy it alot. One of my recommended - 'must visit' restaurants! PS: try to go during the early lunch timings for weekdays if you wanna avoid the long queue. continue reading

I followed my ex-colleague came to this restaurant. Offering mostly Western Cuisine here, the chef was preparing premium and fresh quality of food. Eighteen Chefs always have promotions for Senior Citizen and Students. Menu looked simple and very straightforward. Ingredients, prices even suggestions and steps for placing orders was clearly written down. You can select and make it a Combo set, just simply top up for $3.80. Wrong order was served, I was quite unhappy at the moment. The staff apologized, it was not a big issue in fact yet I don’t like Mushroom. Put them aside, I pretended it had no Mushroom inside, actually it tasted not bad. Acceptable Mushroom-based gravy, as long as I didn’t touch Mushroom will do. I guessed Mushroom lover will like it very much. Not expensive, it was $10.80. continue reading
