This is probably and the only carrot cake which I fancy a lot since young when my mom used to always buy that back whenever she's at bugis! Thus I decided to settle dinner over at albert food centre for the famous carrot cake! $2.50 for the most fabulously awesome delicious carrot cake ever! Such a huge portion, especially for that amount. What makes their carrot cake good is the uncle with his skill and years of experience manning the flames. The carrot cake is soft and there are some crispy bits! I also love the generous amount of egg served with it!This is definitely what I call, a true local dish! continue reading

The carrot cake was fried to a delightful starchy crisp with a generous amount of eggs that covered most of the small pieces of carrot cake and is not oily. The eggs together with the garlic gave it a very strong aroma and with the sprinkled spring onions its even better. The chilli seems to be quite little amount but is nice. With all of it eaten together, the aroma it emits make you finish all up without realizing and will crave for more. continue reading

The FoodI ordered the black version carrot cake. The carrot cake texture was very soft and melted in my mouth. One good thing is the mixing of the eggs and black carrot cake was so perfectly well-balanced and had some nice crispy edge. I could taste the fried egg and chai poh in almost every bite.Taste wise is simply fantastic although the sweet sauce tend to be a bit overly sweet for my liking. The PriceReasonably priced at $2.50 per plateOverallI will definitely come back again to try the white version and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

I love eating fried carrot cake. I love both black and white version of fried carrot cake. And amongst all those that i have tried, this particular stall is one of my personal favourite. Long queue can be anticipated during lunch, dinner and weekends. But i think it is worth queuing up for. I always ordered the $3 and requested to have extra chai po added. It always came with a generous amount of egg added. The carrot cake tasted moist and nicely fried with the dark sweet sauce. continue reading

This is one of the few famous stalls in the hawker centre and being a big fan of fried carrot cake, I decided to try even though there was a long queue.First of all, be prepared for bad service. The chef won't even acknowledge your order, or even ask if you want your carrot cake spicy or not.I think this stall is over rated on the taste. It's actually just average tasting; the only thing is the huge portion that makes it very worthwhile. Unlike other stalls where they cook up their white carrot cake in large pieces, this stall fries their white carrot cake in bits and clumps. I wouldn't say this method of frying isn't good, but I still prefer my white carrot cake in large pieces.I recommend this for sharing as a side dish. continue reading
