yam cake
Smile 2012-05-05

This is quite a fusion stall, selling foods of different types like congee, steamed rice, soup and even yam cake. I tried their yam cake since I already had the beef noodles to eat. The yam cake here is not the squarish block type but is more misshaped and from the looks of it, you know it is something good. The yam cake comes drizzled with the sauce as well as fried onions and not forgetting the chilli. Even on its own, the yam cake is already quite flavourful with the dried shrimps and bits of yam within the yam cake. With the chilli and sauce, it is even more tasty. Although I was quite full, but I still finished every bit of it!

This small stall is run by i think a Hongkonger family as their spoken Cantonese has a very strong accent like from Hong Kong and the food sold here is exactly hong kong snacks, porridge and double boiled soup and steam rice and they open early in the morning and by 12pm or before their food would be sold out and shop close.

In fact i think i had eaten almost all their foods as follows:
Fried bee hoon, very tasty with lots of vegetables like cabbage, carrots, black fungus, tau pok and the chilli sauce has ikan billis.Fried mee is a little darker in colour and equally tasty.
Yam cake very smooth and you can eat the smooth cubes of yam in it.
Chee chong fun and the sauces are very tasty and fragrant.
Glutinous rice fried with hae bi,peanuts, mushrooms are heavenly.
You can either have one of the above at $1.90 or choice 2 of the above items at $2.50.

Steam rice with chicken and salted fish, steam rice with mui chye and meat, pork ribs steam rick..all so fragrant and delicious.
Double boiled soup like lotus roots with pork ribs are boiled with herbs and very very nice.Everyday they have special boiled soup too like special vegetables boiled with pork ribs and herbs.Only foods in this stall i don't like is the fried ngo hiang which is too salty for me.

Spending:
Approximately
SGD 2.50(Breakfast)
