Genki Sushi is one of the places I love recommending to people who are looking for some unconventional experience while enjoying sushi. If you love Japanese cuisine - in particular sushi, it's unlikely that you haven't heard of this place. This is my third time at this place but somehow I'm only reviewing it now because I realized I haven't! Find out why it has got me raving:1. Going electronic.I remember the first time visiting Genki Sushi and getting all impressed with its all-electronic system that meant ordering from an iPad, receiving sushi plates on a super cute train, and sending it back by pushing a button! Clearing plates require manpower though. This makes the whole dining experience much more exciting and fun.2. Varietyyyy!Genki Sushi has quite a crazy amount of sushi choices for you to choose from, although all you see here are nigiri and gunkan (which are my favourites). Keep tabs on how much you've ordered or you're definitely going to burst your budget (whatever it is!) or your stomach space! Everything is very attractive and tapping away at the iPad screen gets pretty addictive too.Photo credits: Genki Sushi Singapore Facebook pagePhoto credits: Genki Sushi Singapore Facebook page3. Value-for-moneyI wouldn't say that the sushi is top-notch or as good as Itacho Sushi's (I refer to ION or Plaza Singapura's branches), but it's pretty good for the price, variety and overall atmosphere of the place. It's enough to satisfy, and definitely don't miss out on the smoked duck nigiri which I'm absolutely crazy over! If you haven't been here before, I'll say go for it!Do note that the queue for Genki Sushi can get very long sometimes, and waiting time goes up to 30 minutes or more during peak hours. There are chairs for those waiting at the front of queue though. I guess the new branch opening at Bugis+ might ease the overcrowding a little. You can always go to Tanuki Raw for fresh oysters as a backup plan if you are already at Orchard Central. continue reading

They said Genki Sushi was probably the largest sushi chain in the world, franchising was nowadays broadening fast. Especially for sushi lover, it was reputable of its charming sushi plate. I had a great experience during a visit, fun yet simple from high-tech advance in placing order until paying bill. It was really cool by scrolling Ipad then the food was delivered by train track to our table. No flagging or waving staffs on duty anymore, the improved serving system also ensured the freshness of our food. The thickness and sweetness of rice was just nice, wrapping skill was fine. Better quality with well-seasoned ingredients, sushi was in correct texture. Friendly familiar sushi selection, the choices were a lot. Price was ranged approximately from $2.00 to $6.00, relatively all right. With such creative idea, it deserved a noteworthy Japanese eatery at Singapore. continue reading

I was back at Genki Sushi for dinner the other day. this time round, i went to the orchard central branch. Anyway, i really love the concept of mini toy trains sending food over to your table. it is just so cute!ordered different dishes this time round also, my favorite will be the smoked salmon sushi! it taste really good. The sauce above it blends very well with the smoked salmon. salmon is fresh and soft too.Black pepper crabmeat sushi and chawanmushi on the other hand are average.we also ordered gyoza and it was served with hello kitty plate! i have never been to any other sushi restaurant in sg that has such cute plate design. Thumbs up!Upon ordering food using their ipad, a jackpot page suddenly pop out (did not manage to capture it). we played and really won. and our prize is 10% off from the total bill. i personally find that this concept is very special. really like dining in this place. will definitely come back often continue reading

Sushi at Genki has never failed to impress me, especially from this outlet as it is more spacious and comfortable. The waitress here are also friendly and service here is prompt and efficient. Enjoyed the egg sushi which the thick egg omelette is fresh and soft in texture. The japanese rice used in their sushi is firm and chewy. Their sashimi are also super fresh and the portion ss quite thick in slices too. At merely less than $10 for three plates of sushi is really valued for money. continue reading

for photos and more reviews, visit http://littlemomentsofmylife.wordpress.com/ make your order on an ipad, and your food arrives on a lil bullet train on a conveyer belt! how cute is that!!! hehe.yep i think coming to genki sushi is a lot about the whole experience - it's pretty fun! the quality of the food is not bad, but i would say the selection is pretty limited.we were absolutely starving when we reached the restaurant!!!!! because there was a queue as well (they dont take reservations), so we had to wait pretty long before going in. started ordering massive amounts of food. first ordered the inari ($1.80), a hot favourite among us. loved the light sweetness of the beancurd skin.we were on a sashimi craze, and ordered several portions of the salmon nigiri ($2.30) and also the sake oyako don ($7.80). the sashimi was pretty fresh, and gosh, i have to say the sake oyako don is the most value-for-money sashimi rice ever!!! now i know where to go for affordable and good sashimi rice. there was quite a generous portion of sashimi!we also ordered the chicken teriyaki don ($5.80). i feel like i havent eaten this dish for the longest time! haha, it was pretty good!i loved my soft shell crab handroll ($3.80)! the crab was fried to a delicate crisp the salmon belly nigiri ($2.30) was LOVELY! one grade higher than normal salmon sashimi, this was seared lightly on the top, and the belly fats lent an additional flavour to the dish. dont worry, it's healthy fats ;)finally, we had the takoyaki ($3.80). it came piping hot on the inside, and i'm always so fascinated by the fish flakes on top! haha they can move! lol. continue reading
