Hungry Godma has a craving for Japanese food so we went for alacarte buffet at Himawari. This is the first time here and the staff was friendly and introduce me to their popular dishes. Hot Breaded Ebi was crispy and mouthwatering; Natto was sticky and slimy but packed with strong flavors. Grilled salmon head was glossy and shiny from the fish fats, crisp skin with oily flesh was succulent.Shabu Shabu was included in the buffet, clear and mellow tasting broth turn chalky and flavorful after cooking all the fresh poultry and sweet vegetables.Reasonable price with food quality food. Will be back for sure. continue reading

FOODUnagi SushiBig slice of Unagi, fresh and tasty! Ubi SushiI love the crispiness of the ubi wrapped in a roll of tiny "egg" and sushi rollSoft-Shell CrabVery soft and crispySalmon Sashmi and Teriyaki ChickenThe salmon sashimi is quite fresh and a slice is quite big. As for the teriyaki chicken, it tastes quite normal, and a little salty.Tako-yaki and Fried ToufuBoth taste quite normal and a little saltyShabu ShabuThis is like a steamboat pot, and they will give you the ingredients like mushroom, vegetables, chicken/beef (based on choice), carrot, Toufu. You can even cook salmon sashimi if you are sick of eating it raw!AMBIENCENested in a quiet industrial area away from the hustle and bustle of city life, this restaurant offers a good place for dining in and catching-up and friends. PRICE$42.80++ for a wide range of sashimi, sushi, shabu shabu and other cooked jap food, it's really worth it! continue reading

My last visit to Himawari Japanese Restaurant was during May 2011. How time flies and this is my second visit with the same mates (my sisters). We made a lunch reservation on one of the Sunday on the month of April. Surprisingly there isn’t full house when we arrive so I think it isn’t necessary to make reservation during weekend lunch. The restaurant is located inside the business park and the companies are closed on weekend. We had lunch buffet and started to massive order ala-carte based on the ready menu provided. The buffet style here is to order from the lists of ala-carte in the menu to service staff. The chef will start to prepare and get it done to serve to us. Thus, the foods are served in good condition. The sashimi are fresh and the cooked dishes are nicely done as well. Here are some of the ala-carte that we ordered for our buffet for your viewing pleasure.I love the sashimi as they are quite generous with thick slices. We absolutely enjoyed the freshness of the fishes. We order more than twice for sashimi. The cooked foods are served in hot condition. The tempura dishes are quite crispy and not too oily too.We spent our afternoon there enjoying the buffet and the environment is quite relaxing. Most of the customers came in family group. I guess it’s all because it’s weekend thus more of family bonding period. The nearest mrt is Labrador Park station which is a walking distance of less than 5 minutes to reach the restaurant. I only realized it on my second visit here. So if you are coming by public transport, mrt is one of the accessible & convenient option. continue reading

This is one of the better venue to enjoy really fresh and juicy salmon slices. The service staffs here are very friendly and the service here is also consider quite prompt upon receiving my orders. The salmon slices here are much thicker in texture as compare to other japanese restaurant. Dip in their in-house japanese light soya sauce with wasabi will definitely enhance the taste of the salmon slices and make it even more tastier as well. continue reading

Having been to many other Japanese buffet restaurants in Singapore, Himawari is my first time. Sashimi has always been considered the finest in Japanese cuisine, and both the quality and variety of the assorted sashimi served in Himawari are absolutely excellent. Not only are they fresh, the cut of each slice is very generous, allowing you to savour the piece in a mouth-watering whole. Shabu shabu is also a must-try in Himawari for its variety of ingredients available. From thinly-sliced beef and chunks of chicken, to golden mushrooms and cabbage, all these at no extra charge should you order for more. continue reading
