This is an outlet that sells Japanese cuisine. I live to eat their bento set there. They provide bento set which is value for Monet. This bento cost me less than $10. There are fried chicken cutlet, fried Gyoza and 5 grain Japanese rice in the set. It takes about 10 mins waiting time for them to prepare the set and was served pipping hot. I enjoyed eating the rice as it is very delicious and healthy. The chicken cutlet cones with BBQ sauce is very juicy too. Room for improvement will be the rice portion. Too small. A god place to have delicious lunch set with comfortable environment.  continue reading

Randomly settled dinner with two of my friends at Ichiban Boshi on a weekday night and we were so glad that we didn't have to queue up for it.As the guys were famished, they ordered two dinner sets which consist of various food, from fruits to soup to individual selected main courses while I ordered a very simple chicken katsu don. Though it is a very simple japanese meal, this didn't disappoint at all! The scrambled eggs complement so well with the tender chicken but the only pity was that I couldn't finish it because the portion is just too huge for my tummy. Ichiban definitely serves decent japanese food! continue reading

I had a quick and satisfying lunch at Ichiban Boshi yesterday. There is quite a lot of different items on the menu and there are pictures accompanying the items which is great as the visual image is always much better than just text. I originally wanted to order the 7 piece salmon sashimi which costs $9.90 but when I saw the sashimi salad, I decided to order that since the price is the same and I thought it would be great to try out another restaurant’s sashimi salad to see how it compares to the one I frequently ate at Sushi Tei. Like Sushi Tei, the dressing comes on the side which is good as it gives customers the choice of how much to add. However, there is only one dressing available, unlike in Sushi Tei where there are 3. Anyway, I would say in terms of value, Ichiban Boshi definitely wins since their sashimi is sliced and I counted around 7 or 8 pieces of salmon in total, with some small cubes of tuna. Whereas in Sushi Tei, the sashimi are all cut into little cubes and I think the combined sashimi is definitely lesser than Ichiban’s. I really enjoyed the sashimi salad here and it is very satisfying – crisp lettuce with shredded carrot and cucumber, tomato quarters and sashimi, everything is very refreshing to the bite. The dressing is tangy as well and it goes well with the vegetables. I will definitely order this the next time I return! continue reading

This sashimi & sushi goen is $26.90 and there are assorted sashimi and sushi, tea pot soup, chawanmushi, appetizer and fruit. The assorted sashimi were fresh but slices were not very thick nor thin. The sushi tasted average. The tea pot soup did not have the taste that makes me want to drink more. The chawanmushi was quite good and the egg was smooth and well flavoured. The appetizer which was the tofu was quite ordinary too. I think price is around the same if you order ala carte. continue reading

chicken nanban wazen $18.90 this set has crispy chicken with tartar sauce, salmon sashimi, soft shell crab tempura and sweet potato, fruit, miso soup, rice and a small tofu. The chicken was quite oily but crispy and tasted average. The salmon sashimi was fresh and the tempura had a thin batter so that the fillings could be tasted. The tofu was so-so. don-don wazen $22.90mini bbq eel rice bowl: i love the soya egg which tasted good with the rice but the eel was quite little and thinly sliced. Chopped chilli padi was used in the raw salmon rice bowl which was a little weird. Assorted tempura lacked flavour but was still acceptable. Chawanmushi was good. It was served really hot and it was not salty too. Overall, this is worth a try! continue reading
