Chicken Wing instead of Swedish Meatball

   Chicken Wing

 Swedish Meatball

This is my 1st time trying the IKEA Swedish Meatball... Am not sure how good is the Swedish Meatball is, but way too soft, lacked texture and was not springy...

*IKEA Singapore has temporary stopped the sales of their meatballs amid the horse meat scandal. They have sent their meatballs for DNA testing to ensure that they contain no horse meat...*

As for The Chicken Wings were mouthwateringly aromatic, so well marinated that even the meat on the inside were tasty and fragrant...As for the outside, the skin was so crispy, Finger licking good and addictive...A must-order!!

I might prefer Chicken wing to Swedish Meatball...

Malay rice
Just OK 2013-04-27

This is my first time having the malay rice for $4.50 in Ikea. There was a long queue during lunch. Everyone is ordering the malay rice or fried rice with chicken wings at the halal section. I did not get to choose the dishes as every serving came with a piece of tau kwa, kang kong and fish by default. The portion is a lot, good to fill up my empty stomach. Recommended.

IKEA Café in the East

Having an IKEA on this side of the island is a blessing!

   Meatballs

Of course, the first food to be reviewed must be the MEATBALLS. I have always loved IKEA meatballs. However, on this day, when I saw the meatballs, I was shocked to find that the meatballs changed shape and texture! ;_; I didn't like it but I finished it with the perfect potatoes, sauce and jam~

   Chicken Rice

That was Chicken Rice, the special of that day. It was good!~ The chicken wing is their very own chicken wing that everybody loves. The taste cannot be found elsewhere! ♥ The chilli and fishcake really went well together with the fragrant rice! The rice was a success because it's really close to the real Hainanese chicken rice!

Other specials that I've tasted before include really good Curry Chicken, Nasi Briyani, Mee Siam.

Their malay food corner also serves really nice fare!

   Juice

I love this juice.

   Mushroom Soup

Mushroom soup that had a bit of "grass" taste. It's not that bad a thing, but it didn't help to add credit to the soup.

   Poached Salmon

Poached Salmon, yummy. Fresh fish with potatoes and broccoli plus the great creamy sauce. A really fantastic combination.

I want to say this again: Having an IKEA on this side of the island is a blessing!

IKEA meatball
Smile 2013-04-15

The ikea meatball is quite pricey but as compare with their other dishes i consider this as reasonable.Ordered the 20 pieces of meatball and it come with boiled halves potatoes, cranberry sauce and a brown gravy. The brown gravy is creamy and it make the meatball less salty.I like the meatball to be sweet so i dipped it with the cranberry sauce. Also, the potatoes make me feel very filling.

IKEA's chicken wings & meatballs
Smile 2013-04-14

I've been a long-time supporter of IKEA food.

One of the recommended dish has got to be the meatballs.

20 for $9.50

Years ago, the meatballs were bigger and rounder. Now they just look shrunken, but still it did not stop me from making my way all the way to IKEA just to eat these meatballs even when I didn't need to buy any furniture.

Another recommended dish is their Chicken Wing.
6 pieces for $7.50

The taste is different from any other stalls I've tried so far, so I guess it's unique to IKEA.

I never fail to end my meal with this cake.
Chocolate & butters, $3.50

If you've tried IKEA's Daim chocolates, you would find this slightly familiar. The top layer of the cake is similar to the Daim chocolate.

At IKEA's restaurant, you would almost never find a table of diners going without the chicken wings or the meatballs.

Awesome Wings
Smile 2013-04-01

My family absolutely loves the chicken wings at IKEA, and we would always order a dozen. So far, none of the mains are memorable; I have tried the salmon - normal tasting, spaghetti - forgettable, meatballs - friends are fans of these but I personally do not like them. But drinks are free-flow there, and the main attraction, I guess, is not the cafeteria, but rather, the huge mall allowing people to shop (and often buy things they do not really need). Always love a trip to IKEA!

Ikea Café
Just OK 2013-03-26

Hello,

I went to Ikea Café at Tampines for lunch. The place is very convenient for residents staying in the east! They do have shuttle bus circulating the three big 'malls' from pasir ris, tampines, bedok and sengkang which also leaves us to no excuses to no visit Ikea Café !

Every one knows that Ikea Café meatballs is worth dying for. It is delicious especially coming along with the meatballs sauce. Love it! Just a little shocked that their meatballs now comes in odd sizes rather than circular shape.

Next, it will be their chicken wings! However, this time I only ordered two as we wanted to try out the other dishes. I thought the wings are not as good as the past. The meat was a little too hard.

Last but not least, their poached salmon!
The salmon today was surprisingly fresh and sweet! The sauce was good too!

Remember to order their poached salmon and meatballs

if you drop by next time! smile

Dinner at IKEA
Smile 2013-03-09

As usual, ikea on a Saturday night was crowded and it took us a while to get seats during dinner time.

We decided to get a plate of mee siam each, chicken wings and a butterscotch cake.

The mee siam costs only $1.90! but we only managed to get two plates and it’s out of stock due to high demand:/

Although it is quite a small plate, but it’s just right for one person, with some sides like chicken wings.

The mee siam is not too spicy and the tou pok is quite a lot. I like the gravy!;D
But it’s a little salty though :x
Considered super worth it comparing with the price of other items.

The chicken wings is as always, crispy and fragrant on the outer and the meat is tender and tasteful^^
It is not too dry and there’s still some juice within lol

For the cake, we actually wanted to get the chocolate cake but I think we got the wrong one and got the butterscotch chocolate cake instead.

But we’re glad we got the wrong one because we simply love the cake!;D

There’s a few layer of taste and texture…a combination of the soft chocolate cake and the crispy layer, which seems like biscuit bits kind of layer.

A little sticky and it is sweet but not the kind that we will get sick of it after a few mouthful.

Chocolate coupled with the butterscotch, I just really love it to the max ;D

On the summary, we got a cake, 6 chicken wings and two plates of mee siam, shared between the 3 of us.
The whole meal that made us fairly full merely costs the each of us around $4 …pretty worth it right? ;D

Lo Hei at IKEA
Smile 2013-02-13

   Ready to eat.

   Yu Sheng set at $9.80.

The portion is good to be shared with 4 pax.

One of the better places to be on the first day of Lunar New Year gotta be the IKEA. Most places were closed on this day but both IKEA at Tampines and Alexandra were opened on this most auspicious day of the year.

We were there for a late lunch. The cafe was not as crowded as expected. It took about 15 minutes to queue, to order, to collect and to pay for the foods. We decided to order a set of Yu Sheng for only $9.80. The portion is good to be shared amongst 4 people. It served with the usual ingredients and condiments like the shredded carrots and white radish, those crunchy bits, grounded peanuts, plum tasting sauce together with a good portion of smoked salmon. It was absolutely fun to toss it then eat it wishing for a good year ahead.

It tasted simple but nice. It was a good way to kick start the Lunar New Year nonetheless.

The mushroom soup was creamy and thick on earthy goodness. I love the chunky mushrooms. and mopped up every bit of soup with my bun. smile

These fried items were purely just for sharing. They weren't any good but they did keep my mouth occupied.

And of course. These chicken wings.
Must order and don't make them just one or three. It's never enough.
Juicy and so very tasty!

F&F - Furniture & Food
Just OK 2013-01-31

Swedish Furniture Giant IKEA has long since been frequented by many, not just for the furniture but the luscious meals served at the in-store bistro. While its swedish meatballs were its claim to fame earlier on, the bistro has since added on to its repertoire of food choices.

As an appetizer or finger food, I would thoroughly recommend the fried chicken wings which are simple aces in my book. Fried till a deep golden brown, the wings are crispy on the outside, with tender succulent flesh on the inside.

   Fried Chicken Wing

Alternatively, try the Gravad Lax Plate - smoked salmon slices dressed lavishly with some herbs and spices along the sides.

   Gravad Lax Plate

For my main course, I picked the Roast Beef w/ Mushroom Sauce. The roast beef wasn't really restaurant quality, but at such a affordable pricing and coming with a free drink, it was a pretty easy decision to make.

   Roast Beef w/ Mushroom Sauce

So next time if you are ever at IKEA, don't just jump straight into furniture shopping. Take sometime and enjoy the food. Especially the wings!

we went to Ikea to go jalan jalan , hot day, but once you go indoors into the aircon , you just wanna jump on all the beds and sofas.
Going to the ikea cafe, we ordered a feast!
meatballs and fries - as some of us locals know, it's no longer as good as it used to be, the recipe has been changed. but if you want swedish meatball , first stop is usually Ikea. the fries was crispy and portion was decently generous.

fish potatoes brocolli, potatoes, plain boiled. can't expect much. fish was flavourful with a nice tasty topping spread on it. brocolli for variety. must eat more vege. too much meat.

chicken wings! crispy, not oily, tender on the inside. one bite puts a smile on your face.

brownie was a bonus special I think? normal. no comments on that.

I rarely buy the apple juice, was thirsty and was sick of all the usual coke/gassy drink. it was kind of too sweet. but nice bottle packaging.

Lunch @ Ikea
Smile 2013-01-07

Tried these two items from Ikea cafe:
1. Calamari with nuggets and fries
2. Organic spinach pancake

Generally both items are quite tasty, in particular the spinach pancake. Though it is pan-fried, it is not oily. Given the fact that it is organic, it is a healthy and delicious dish. Highly recommended one to try!

As for the calamari with nuggets and fries, it tastes good too. However, it is nothing special and hence, is ok to give it a miss if you are too full. tongue

There's still people who haven't tried this yet!
Just OK 2012-12-28

Went to Ikea with a few friends and I found out that there're still people in Singapore that haven't tried IKEA SWEDISH MEATBALLS YET, how can this be possible?! Therefore I persuaded, encouraged, literally 'forced' them to taste this wonderful meat from heaven. I felt that the quality dropped because it's more.. 'mashy', like 'uncooked', i guess it's because there's really a super long dragon queue and thus they're just clearing the stock and serving like robots rather than artfully cooking it? Anyway my friends liked it, so I guess if you haven't tried swedish meatballs you'd really really have to go. Have a common identity with all of us! smile
