The moment you step into Indo Padang restaurant, you will feel the warm and friendly service by their staffs. The restaurant is also quite spacious and cosy. One of my favourite dish which I have tried during my visit is their Sambal Udang Petai, which refers to succulent prawns fried with petai (local exotic bean) cooked in sweet and spicy chilli gravy . The prawns are crunchy and fresh and the side ingredients go reallly well with the whole dish. It is not too spicy and is quite fragrant.

Nice to eat it on it's own and with their fragrant plain rice as well, which is free flow once you have pay the price for per head. An enjoyable meal I have there.

When we were seated, the staff handed over the keropok (crackers) appetizers. So crispy and yummy! We have ordered a few dishes to go with the free flow rice. Sayur Nangka ($6.9) is the house special dish. The young jackfruit is cooked in rich coconut gravy, very creamy and tasty, not too spicy too. Authentic Malay flavour I'd say.Soto ayam ($8.5) is cooked in the original Padang style. The light herbal coconut soup has quite a bit of shredded chicken, perkedel and cabbage in it. Another chef re

Another chef recommendation dish is the Ikan Nila goreng ($13.9). The deep-fried Tilapia has lots of crumbs, and it is served with special sambal kecap. Very crispy, and nice to bite on.

However, the cendol is quite a disappointment though. Too much coconut and too little of the brown sugar syrup.

It’s only logical to go straight to the basement of The Cathay since most of the eateries can be found there. Indo Padang was offering a 4 course set meal for 2 persons for only $27.90++! First up, introducing…the Oxtail Soup! It’s full of flavour. Felt so energized after a few spoonfuls! If you don’t take beef, there’s also a choice of Mutton Soup or Soto Ayam.

We were given three choices for the vegetable dish. After reading through the descriptions in the menu, we settled for Sayur Lodeh, which is mixed vegetable cooked in rich coconut gravy. My tolerance for spicy food is pretty high. If I were to put myself into the shoes of others, I think most would find this a teeny weeny bit spicy. The other two choices are Kangkung Belacan and Sayur Nangka.

A toss between Beef Rendang and Mutton Curry. We chose the latter since we already have beef for oxtail soup. The mutton and potatoes were very tender. The entire dish was not overly dry. Curry lovers, you definitely won’t regret this.

Kinda spoilt for choice and the waiter recommended the Grilled Chicken instead of Fried, Rendang or Curry. Tasted a bit sweet! Reminds me of honey glazed chicken wings. Niceeee!

Frankly speaking, it’s quite a spread for two! Awesome food. Awesome company. What more could I ask for? ;)
