The casual restaurant is located at the second level of the mall. The place is decorated in peranakan traditional style with pottery around the walls. Although we are the first customers of the day, certain dishes such as the five spice roll is not available as still have not delivered from the central kitchen. At the counter, sauces and assorted kuehs are available for sale.Ayam Buah Keluak ($7.90)Chicken braised in thick tamarind gravy with buah keluak nuts.I feel that the gravy is too watered down. The chicken is tender and flavourful.Bakwan Kepeting ($6.90)Minced pork and crabmeat meatballs with bamboo shoots in a clear soup.I could not taste the crabmeat in the meatballs, although the meatballs are juicy. Quite plain looking.Nyonya Chap Chye ($6.50)Stew mixed vegetables with prawns in a soy bean sauce.I could not find any trace of the prawns in this dish although the vegetables is well braised. Hor Pow ($4.50)Stuffed beancurd, served with chilli chukkaThe stuffed beancurd tastes quite plain on its own but with the tangy sweet it adds a spark to the dish.Home-made Ang Cho Teh ($2.20) & Bandong with ChinChow ($2.80)Refreshing and rich in taste.Gula Melaka Sago ($2.50)I like that the gula melaka used here has been filtered off the impurities. It tastes smooth and rich except that the coconut milk is a bit lumpy. We also try 3 of the kuehs which costs $2. They are taste not bad except a bit too soft.Overall the food is not bad. The service is a bit slow even when there is no other customer. The place is packed when it hits the lunch hour, especially with the older generation. continue reading

If I ever happen to pass by this restaurant, I will definitely order their famous Ayam curry and a plate of plain rice for a meal. Less than $10 is definitely worth the price. Curry is very thick and creamy and is also quite spicy as well. for the chicken meat, is very tender and juicy, really easy to chew. The restaurant's staffs are friendly and fast in service. The environment is quite cosy and comfortable too. continue reading

Ivins have been a restaurant that is located in heartland mall for almost as long as it was built. There is always a crowd and queue during peak meal periods. I tried the curry veg and assam chicken the other day. The curry is really nice as it brings out the spiciness but its not the numbing type of spicy. The desserts are also good with chendol and hot bu bu cha cha. continue reading

We order their rendang chicken, tahu goreng and burbur hitam, their spices in rendang chicken is very fragrant and nice, coupled with rice, it is very nice and chicken is very tender, tahu goreng got a lot of peanuts and sauce spicy, very nice dishes too, their dessert burbur hitam is not so good and should cook a bit longer, overall their main dishes are very nice with a lot of different spices added, we love it, and their sambal chilli is very hot that i take a bit only. I will go back try other dishes next time and they have a counter for kuehs too, we are too full to try. continue reading

Mains were all priced at an average of $8 or so. Tried the chap-chye, was good, and the fried pork strips were good as well. Also had sweet potato leaves in coconut gravy which was an unconventional method of cooking sweet potato leaves (usually comes with sambal chill). The chendol is famous and a refreshing dessert priced at $2.50. Pulot hitam with ice cream is also worth a try. continue reading
