It was a Saturday night and we decided to take a visit to the east side. Having missed Old Airport's delicacies, we went back to reminisce the good old times, at the same time to explore some of the food there.Jackson Fried Hokkien Mee was introduced to me and I was told is one of the recommended must try.I was rather disappointed by the fried Hokkien Mee. Although it was consistently fried with pork lard bits added to level up its fragrance, it was lacking the oomph! The ratio of yellow noodles and white noodles was about 1:1.Prawns was rather stinky and the prawn stock that those mee was fried in was of the ordinary standard - tasteless.Visit http://www.umakemehungry.com for more reviews continue reading

Oyster Omelette is one of my favourite food. Randomly choose this stall and decided to tried their Oyster Omelette. Although it is high in calorie and cholesterol, I don't mind eating once every three to four weeks. Firstly, the mixture of the starch and egg are well balanced, the texture is not too chewy, slight crispyness and well cooked. As for the oyster, it is quite fresh and well processed. Lastly, the chili provided has a mild spicy and is a must when eating oyster omelette. Therefore, this oyster omelette is a must try for oyster omelette fans. continue reading

The price is standard hawker price. And with so many hawkers selling carrot cake here, it's a tough competition. This stall is towards the back of the food centre so unless you specifically wlak there, you'll miss it. The bright red sign helps the store stand out.For $3, you get a lot of carrot cake and you will feel stuffed by the end of it since it's oily and starchy and eggy. We waited for about 10 to 15 minutes as there was a queue. The man is very polite and will offer to bring it to your table if you give him the number of your table. As with all carrot cakes, it's rather greasy and just oily enough so you're suitably on the border of feeling sick when you finish your plate. Otherwise, it is nicely done, with generous egg and sprinkling of green stuff. So far I find this the best carrot cake at this food centre.Recommended! continue reading
