Tanjong Katong Road are known to foodies as one of the upcoming happening place for dining in the south east area. This road is practically buzzing during lunch and dinner and finding a car park space is an issue. As this area only serves lunch, dinner and supper crowd, it is actually quite a challenge to find a place to have breakfast. Fortunately, Jalan Kayu The Prata Cafe is one of the establishment that open early on the day we need some early grub. They open around 10am, while other eatery open from 11am onwards. So how is the food? The prata here is actually quite good. It is thin, fluffy, good serving size and the best part it is not oily. They did not overcook the egg prata ($1.40) and my plaster ($1.40) have the egg yolk oozing out of it. (plaster is kosong prata + sunny side up fried egg on the outside like a band aid). While the curry has a robust flavour into it, as it was probably from last night stock. To be honest, the best curry for prata is an overnight curry, because the flavour is just fantastic and robust. The kopi-C and ice lemon here are considerably good. However, they can be extremely generous with their sugar. Service is a bit slow, but price is very reasonable considering they are air-conditioned establishment. The plain prata will set you back $0.90 while the egg prata and plaster are $1.40 each. Kopi-C is $1.30 and Ice Lemon Tea is $1.60. In total,we spend only $8 for breakfast.Overall, this place serve a simple Singaporean no fuzz breakfast. Although it open a bit later than other prata shop, but they serve a good grub. We don't mind coming back for more in the future. Cheers!! continue reading

So good that i've to revisit this place in just a few days for SUPPER !!This is one of my most favourite places to go to for prata. It's fresh , it's well evenly cooked. The curry is not watery like some places. And no it's not at "jalan kayu" , it's a branch that opened conveniently my area at tanjong katong. The lime juice is freshly squeezed and made, great way to detox after consuming a hearty prata meal. continue reading

This place is always very crowded, you have to wait and extremely long time to purchase a set of prata with the fish curry gravy. When you eat it hot hot on the spot, its more tasty. If you pack it up, the prata gets squash into the brown packing paper and becomes hard in texture by the time you bring it back home. This place is recommended for supper time & early morning breakfast. continue reading

I am back at Tanjong Katong again to check out the area and noticed that Jalan Kayu The Prata Cafe has opened there. Now there are more choices for the residence staying at the area.I ordered both the plain and egg prata. They were fresh, fluffy and not greasy. Although the prata was good, the service was rather slow. It seems like the staffs were not familiar with their roles and restaurant operation. continue reading

Me and my friends went over to Jalan Kayu The Prata Cafe for a quick bite of ROTI BOMB! It's me and my friends favourite, their prata are the best in all of Singapore. There are different variety and the atmosphere is very good for a group of friends to hang out and chill.I, myself ordered two prata which were the Strawberry Roti Bomb as well as the Chocolate Roti Bomb. They are both syrup coated with strawberry and chocolate. The taste was fantastic!! Go try it, you won't regret it continue reading
