Craving for some Indian cuisine, I will always choose to come here to grab my favourite paper tosai.  To pay less than $5 for this giantic 'prata', is definitely worth the money.  THe restaurant is spacious and cooling, service was really warm and friendly too.  For the paper tosai, is really thin and crispy.  The curry gravy is flavourful and not too spicy.  Dip or without dipping it, both version taste equally good! continue reading

Potato masala has always been one of my favourites. This can be found inside the typical indian tea time/breakfast thosai or along side poori; another indian delight. Basically potato masala compromises of potatoes, peas, carrots, onions and of course masala! it is also similar to the usual curry puff potato filling but the indian version is slightly more spiced up.Different types of thosai is also available. I went for my favourite kind this time round - Masala Thosai. I love how its so crispy on the outside with a generous portion of potato masala placed right in the middle! It is also served alongside 3 different curries - Sambar (which is like a dahl curry that is common eaten with prata), coconut chutney and chili chutney. No doubt coconut chutney compromises of grated coconut and spices while the chili version is obviously spicier. They complimented the meal very well! continue reading

This is our first time to celebrate the Deepavali here, we decided to bump into Little India for indian cuisine to enjoy the moment. Hehee, from the menu, we had no idea what we wanted to order about, it was nice that they have photos with the description. We ended up to order two dishes of Dosai!Dosai - for me, it is kind of like crepe or pancake. The Dosai meal (SGD 7) served with 5 types of sauce and 3 kinds of veggies. This is 'Cone' Dosai (SGD 4). As it describes, it is in 'Cone' shape, very interesting yeah? These are vegetarian dishes though, they are actually quite oily and heavy big dish I do like Indian food. But would be nice to check it out once in a while not everyday It is lucky that we found this restaurant, very friendly people there and good price for the food! continue reading

One day after my shopping in little India, I went to Komala Vilas for a quick & light dinner. I ordered for Special wada. I actually wanted to have 2 samosas, but I went and had a look at the food on display & noticed this large pattie like thing and asked what it is & was told it is a special wada. It was quite big in size compared to normal wadas & can be had as dinner as it is quite fiilling. It is made up of pulses, onion, chillis & spices, ground together, made into a pattie & fried. It was served with 2 kinds of coconut chutney. Since it was a rainy evening & the weather was cold, I also had a cup of masala tea after my dinner. The tea was nice & had a strong masala flavor & aroma. My dinner at Komala Vilas costed me about 5-6$ only. continue reading
