Amongst many kopitiams opened islandwide in Singapore, Kopi Seletar is one of the branches. Situated in Greenwich V, a 2 - storey neighbourhood centre along Seletar Road, this is another food court by Kopitiam. There is a wide variety of dishes to select from. There is ban mian, yong tau foo, Korean, Western, chicken rice, dumpling noodles and mixed vegetable rice etc. During lunch time, shuttle buses from various companies will fetch their staff here for lunch so try to avoid the lunch crowd. In this small mall, there's not much affordable food except for this kopitiam and toast box beside. 2nd level is mainly restaurants. I went to try the seafood stall at the very end. It seems to be owned by the same person as the mixed vegetable stall. The food they sell is like Zi char style, with fried rice, noodles, pork and chicken Thai style rice, and these wok rice. However, this one is not served in those silver woks, it comes in a normal plate. On the menu are nice photos of the food they sell and vegetable can be added on to make it into a set. Each set cost S$5.80. I ate the thai style sweet and spicy chicken rice. The thai sauce is not bad, sweetness and spiciness is mixed equally, one is not covering the other's taste. The egg served is runny but you can tell that they reuse the oil to fry because it is dark brown in colour. To my disappointment is the vegetable, it is suppose to be added on to make up a set but they gave only a few strands and placed it together on the same plate. It seems like i'm eating the mixed vegetable rice but yet I cannot choose the dishes. And the mixed vegetable only cost S$3.50 for 2 meat and 1 vegetable. If I disregard the appearance of the dish and just judge by the taste, it is still acceptable for a meal, but not justifiable for the cost. I could have eaten something else at the kopitiam. continue reading
