Introduction
Kuriya means “aristocratic kitchen” in Japanese. Found only in the homes of the noble class, it is the place where food is prepared for important guests. Master Chef Tsuzuki’s creations can be seen in his clever use of various kinds of homemade sauces and Western inspired dishes such as carpaccio and miso cheese fondue. His cooking is essentially based on traditional Japanese methods using dashi or stocks from bonito and kelp. continue reading

See my full reviews & photos at = http://chefquak.com/2015/06/10/excellent-chirashi-don-set-kuriya-dining-on-9jun2015/wife bought me an excellent chirashi sushi zen set at lunch at kuriya dining on 9.6.2015.^^ it was for early father’s day. we had a mother’s day lunch at gurnard’s head on 10.5.2015 and a mother’s day dinner at mackerel sky at newlyn, cornwall. set started with a salad with goma (sesame) dressing. there was a lot of salad, a bit little dressing. we asked for more. of course to be added in moderation. it was good.the chawanmushi was excellent, especially with the very tasty snow crab sauce, though i felt the sauce was a bit starchy. this was an excellent chirashi don for S$62++. i still cannot decide if this is better or mikuni’s better. i guess overall i still favour mikuni’s chirashi don but this was really really good too. anyway, i like them both. you have in one bamboo holder uni, negi toro, salmon, tai, maguro, hotate, hamachi, amaebi on a bed of cubed salmon & maguro (like in barachisrashi don). on the other there was anago, ikura, tobiko, tamago on sushi rice. a most wonderful, satisfying lunch. there was dessert & coffee too. dessert was strawberry mousse, black sesame ice cream, and fruits. it’s actually kind of huge set for lunch, but on some days we are permitted to spoil ourselves. continue reading

Went Kuriya Dining at Great World City to try their food. Ordered the special sashimi zen, consist of fatty tuna belly, smooth sea urchin, succulent salmon and sweet amberjack, this sashimi is so fresh that they literally melt in your mouth. It was nicely presented in a wooden boat. US Prime beef hot pot set was fantastic; light and milky broth filled with fresh assorted vegetable, the thinly slice beef cooked almost instantly when put into the boiling soup, very tender. Grilled Grade 9 Wagyu almost put me into tear as it’s so so delicious, seriously fit for king OMG!Their Matcha ice cream were the best one I've tasted so far. The rest of the spread were spectacular too. continue reading

We happen to stumble upon Kuriya dining restaurant in Great World city. The menu looks good and we decided to have our dinner there as the prices look reasonable. I order the chirashi Don which has a mixed of different sashimi on top of a bowl of japanese rice. I would say it has one of the best chirashi don i have tasted. the serving of the sashimi is good and fresh, the price is only $25. continue reading

Came here with my friend for her birthday celebration. We had their Kani Nabe It was quite a hotpot with huge pieces of crab legs, Chinese cabbage, golden mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms & tofu. The soup stock was really sweet yet not overpowering, probably due to the crab. The crab legs were surprisingly sweet &meaty &the flesh was quite easy to get to, The crab came with a Ponzu sauce, which was a with a hint of lemon & vinegar, which complemented the sweetness of the crab meat perfectly.Overall i rate 8/10 continue reading

It was Chinese Birthday (ren day). Celebrate this occasion at Kuriya. The fried prawn was not oily yet it is sauce mix well with the prawn to create a good appetize to eat. Even one with high cholerestol will forget it and eat healthly. Ordered the hot pot soup with green tea. It comprises of chicken meat, one prawn, mushroom. After consuming the food, can drink the soup as tea. The food is just enough for dinner as one is not suppose to eat to heavy for the night. Cheers ! continue reading
