Silky, smooth pudding. This is one beancurd you can't get elsewhere. There have been online debates going around saying that Lao Ban uses powder mix instead of authentic soya bean. Whether this is true or not, it really doesn't matter so long this is a tasty dessert and from the crowds and queues 24/7, does it even bother consumers? Even if it's powder mix, I must take my hat off to Lao Ban for coming up with such an innovative recipe and recreating it into something sensational. The unique thing

The unique thing about this beancurd is the layer of 'skin' on top that somehow adds texture and flavour to the dessert. It reminds me of the steamed milk pudding from Yee Shun in Hong Kong. I did some reading and found out that the milk skin is created by heating up milk or in this instance, soy milk.

Just look at how smooth the texture is. Makes me want to gulp down a few more bowls. It isn't overly sweetened so you don't get sick easily from eating too much of it. My family enjoys this dessert as much as I do and you just have to try it to find out.

This is the start of the soya bean curd craze at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre. The queue at the stall is ridiculously long. To manage the crowd, they even have 2 or 3 stalls at the same hawker centre. And I'm not even counting the competitor stalls selling similar bean curd. The bean curd here really tasted very different from the traditional one, so I dun think it's fair to compare this with the normal soya bean curd. The bean curd here really tasted very different from the traditional one, so I dun think it's fair to compare this with the normal soya bean curd. I will still have my usual craving for the traditional plain & smooth bean curd, topped with sweet syrup.

Here, the soya beancurd tastes more like solidified soya milk. Dun believe me? Try leaving it in the open or just stir it, until you see some liquid residue. The liquid tasted exactly like soya milk.

Like it or not, all up to individuals. It just offers another variety of soya bean curd, besides the traditional one and the egg bean curd. Coolz!

When I saw there were many people queueing at this Lao Ban BeanCurd stall, I also went to queue to try their offering. They have quite a number of flavours of beancurd on sale. The beancurd smelled like almond pudding. The look of the beancurd also looked like one.

The texture of the beancurd was not like regular beancurd, it was slightly softer and more slippery.

The taste was somewhat not as good as I would be expected. More of creamer taste than soya bean taste and a bit too sweet for my liking. There was a hint of vanilla or almond essence, I am not too sure.

Overall, at this price I would prefer have hot orginal beancurd from other traditional stalls than this one.

The LaoBan Tau Huay is not like the conventional tau huay. It is more of a pudding. Lao Ban's tauhuay is very delicious, It is so smooth and silky, coupled with a slight milky and caramel-ish essence, it almost melts in your mouth. My favourite is the original flavor, but it also comes in almond flavour. They also have soy milk which tastes slightly different from the old-school soy milk but equally fantastic. It is totally worth the wait even if you have to queue for it.

Lao Ban beancurd is one of the leading soya beancurd stalls in Singapore. Usually there will be a very long queue here but queue moves quite fast as the service is very efficient and beancurds are ready-made to sell. The beancurd $1.50 was very smooth, soft and silky. It melted in my mouth the moment I put it in. definitely something I'll recommend you to try if you're here!

Lao Ban Soya Beancurd has suddenly became the popular choice and there were queues of people as well as crowds of people carrying takeaway bags of it that seems to be the key natural marketing strategy of this place. The beancurd is so refreshing and smooth. The sincerity , silky texture and subtle sweetness of the dessert as well as the cute logo of an old loving couple made people brand and associate this dish with “love”. $1.50 each.

But ever since that first encounter, I can't deny my love for Lao Ban's Tau Huay so much so that I make it a point to get at least one bowl either for morning breakfast or late night dessert whenever I pay homage to the hawker centre. Even my family got addicted like all those who buy Lao Ban Beancurd by the plastic bags with each containing five bowls of heaven! I just can't help to wonder why. Either they have a big family who loves Tau Huay like mine or they stock their fridge with bowls of curded soybean milk just for pure enjoyment sake like I do?

Do not be surprised if you see people queuing in front of the store even before they draw up the metal gates and start business. What about you? Would you bear the heat and time all in the name of good Tau Huay?

Such is the things we do for the best Beancurd...

Chilled soya bean curd pudding is indeed a really nice and refreshing dessert on a hot afternoon. After feasting at the Old Airport Food Centre, do drop by Lao Ban to get your dose of chilled bean curd dessert! Everyone (including me) raves about the fresh soya bean curd pudding that literally melts in your mouth. What probably sets Lao Ban from apart from other competitors is its nice wrinkly top layer of beancurd which has a slightly firmer, milkier consistency and taste.

And we are back again here at Lao Ban! Simply love the silky smooth bean curd pudding. I always order the original flavour since I feel it's the tastiest of all. The bean curd always has a very thin layer on top that has a different texture. They also sell soya milk as well but I haven't get to try it. The price is very affordable at $1.50 and the queue is always long despite having many competitors at the same hawker center.

Lao Ban is one of the first few beancurd pudding that spark the whole rave of beancurd pudding. The beancurd is really smooth and not that sweet. I really like it as compare to all the other beancurd pudding brands that came out after that.It was free due to OCBC Frank card benefits to student in NTU and they were giving out lao ban as an exam welfare for a whole week.

Lao Ban beancurd is really a special type of beancurd that I've eaten so far. It tasted really smooth and silky that melts in your mouth right away! I've tasted many different beancurds that is similar to Lao Ban but Lao Ban is still by far the best (in my opinion). The queue is really long here especially during peak hours. It is almost a "must eat" dessert every time I visit Old Airport Road.

I have been buying at this stall since it first opened. When it first opened, the quality was consistent with the amount given generous. As the popularity of this stall grew, it seems that the quality is declining with some bowls too sweet or not smooth enough (a critical component of such tau huay). Moreover, the amount given seems to be declining with less in each bowl. This is a pity. At 1.50, it's OK. Not fantastically good as before but still passable.

I've tried the original and the almond flavour. I got hooked up onto the original flavour but I didn't like the almond one as I dislike almond in the first place. The beancurd is smooth and silky. There is an extremely thin layer on top which I feel has a powdery aftermath sometimes. Besides that, the taste is really good. It is not overly sweet and is very addictive especially when you eat it on a hot day!
