My friends were raving over how good the beancurd was then, so I had to try it for myself. Bought it home to try when I was having lunch at Maxwell. It is perhaps a very objective thing when it comes to food, since tastes varies for different people. I, belongs to the group who does not like Lao Ban. To me, beancurd is not pudding, but Lao Ban beancurd is not the traditional type of beancurd but is instead in a pudding form. The original flavour is quite milky for me, and I got quite sick of it after a few mouthfuls. Didnt like it at all. The almond was much better, at least still acceptable for my taste. Perhaps, Lao Ban appeals more to the younger people. My younger sis loves their original beancurd while I simply dont like it. continue reading

Lao ban beancurd needs no introduction, the queues seems to have died down recently though. The beancurd is really soft and will instantly melt in your mouth once eaten, really addictive and enjoyable. Tried the soya bean drink a few months ago as I have never tried it from the stall before, have always just purchased the beancurd itself. The soya bean drink was nothing spectacular, was even a wee bit too sweet for me. Will skip this next time and go for the beancurd instead. continue reading

Seeing that the queue for Lao Ban is not too long, I decided to queue for it. It took me less than 10minutes and I left with 10 bowls of Lao Ban to bring back home. It is gone very fast and before I know it, there is only 2 bowls left when I opened my fridge later in the night. I personally love it when it is just out from the fridge since it is very cold and the beancurd is very smooth and cooling in my mouth. The beancurd is really as good as all the reviews have claimed with its malty flavour and melt in your mouth feeling. If you haven’t already tried it, you are really missing out on this! continue reading

After eating Chicken Rice from Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice stall, Openrice spent us to eat Lao Ban Soya Beancurd again. The stall was small and simple, with a middle-aged man standing beside to serve customers. Unlike other Beancurd stalls, there were no many flavors to choose from, only Plain Normal Beancurd and Almond Beancurd on the menu. I bought the plain one, decent taste of soya and it was soft and smooth. It considered reasonable price, $1.50 for the Normal Beancurd and $2.00 for the Almond Beancurd. Personally, I prefer this traditional taste of Beancurd than the luxury or complicated taste of colorful Beancurd with different ingredients. Maybe it was attractive for the teenagers nowadays, but not too suitable for elderly. Overall, I enjoyed the day with Openrice. continue reading

This is my favorite dessert because it comes in a variety of flavors but my favorite is still the original flavor. It is because it has a nice aroma of the soya bean and the bean curd is very silky, soft and smooth. It is very soothing to the throat and this is my all-time favorite dessert because it is inexpensive and very nutritious. Therefore, I would like to recommend for you guys to try it out. continue reading
