We received some chicken Bak kwa and I usually don't like chicken Bak kwa as my prior experiences with it, was that they were much drier than pork! I was surprised when I bit into the chicken Bak kwa, it was chewy! Almost like a mochi! But it was also sweet and tender! Best kind of Bak kwa I have ever eaten! The pork Bak kwa from lim Chee guan was also a winner! It was thick, sweet and tender. It wasn't as chewy as the chicken. But it had a good flavour to it.As with every Bak kwa I have ever tried, very oily and you need a good cup of hot drink to wash down all the oil. Nonetheless, I am a new fan of lim Chee guan! continue reading

Brought half a kilogram of the original pork bak gua. This is actually not the first time buying bak gua from this shop as the taste and texture of their bak gua is quite different from other bak gua stall. For the taste wise, it has a slight sweet taste, well seasoned and taste great. Texture wise, not too hard, soft and chewy texture, well grilled and has slight burn on the side. Apart from the normal pork bak gua, this stall also offers other flavours of the bak gua. Although the price is a little steep as compared to other stall, it is worth it due to the good quailty and the taste of the bak gua. continue reading

look at the bak kwa. there is so much burnt bits. overall, there is about 30% burnt bits, which is very bad because you have to spit out the burnt bits all the time. it is bitter and yucky. it is also super oily and tough. would not recommend this at all. and it is so expenisve. doesn't taste as good at the hock guan ones. this quality is only like fragrance's bak kwa (which could even be better than this!). the sealing of the packet is fancy and everything so you are paying for that. the meat itself is really not good quality. continue reading

It will be strange if there will not be any ba kwa served during the CNY period. I like Lim Chee Guan's ba kwa because the texture is not tough and it's nicer in taste. So I went to buy 2 days before the reunion day with the thought that I might end up queuing for an hour just to buy a kilo of ba kwa. To my pleasent surprise was that the queue was not very long, around 20 people in front of me and it took me all in all only 20 mins to get my order processed! A kilo for $50 during this festive season. continue reading
