One afternoon we went to Long beach Dempsey for lunch. Because it is a casual lunch we did not order the famous crabs. the captain recommended the special tofu with seaweed powder which I find the taste quite weird. I have no idea what the mixed inside the Tofu which makes it taste like the tofu has gone bad. Than came the salted egg prawn which to my surprise it used salted egg whites instead of salted egg yolk to fried the prawns. I have never tasted this dish with egg whites. All restaurants

All restaurants use salted egg yolks. The whites makes the prawns very saltish and simply not edible. When we feedback to the captain. he said salted egg prawns is like that one ;( the fried kang kong is also quite disappointing. There are no sambal chillis in it only a few dry shrimps. The fried rice is fortunately "normal" but no surprise and not worth the value we are paying for. Total cost $90 for 2 pax.
Other Info. : I am a regular at Long beach. But this experience have stop me from further visits.

First time ever eating crab porridge! Honestly it was a very novel experience. The porridge and crab go very well together! The crab with its crustacean taste and roe flavours the porridge very well. The porridge absorbs all the juices from the crab and so the rice grains are all very tasty and delicious. The crab is not overcooked and remains moist and juicy!!! Crab prices are seasonal.

And I'm with a lil girl who doesn't have the most patience in the world.

we decided to stake out an information board. which sadly isn't updated and picked out long beach. Made a call and told them we would like a table as long as it didn't take more than half an hour.

By the time we strolled over and got to the counter, we were second in line, for some reason.

The trick to this is - CALL. don't just appear to stand in line. It was a late dinner at 9pm we only had three dishes, tofu with house special sauce, salted egg yolk prawns and scallops and spinach. We also ordered a fried rice.

The scallops were big and firm. and the spinach was fried just right. slightly crunchy and definitely still green. even in that darkness.

Anyway,it was a treat from my boss and exclusively for ladies only. So basically all the ladies in my company are out for the night for the dinner. We went to one of the branch located at Dempsey Road.It was pack with customers and bookings throughout the night. We have 12 of us and one of them only take HALAL foods so she ordered food from the next restaurant.

All photos taken using iphone 4s so do bear with the quality.

We also have the spicy chilli crab which we have it with the man tao.Their man tao is different from the one we always had it. This is more like western style but the taste is still the same old man tao taste.

Fried Kangkong with cuttle fish. This is something new as we never tried fried kangkong before and it turned out just nice. It was their new recommendation. The presentation of the dish is attractive too.

Total damage SGD494++ and i must say Longbeach is a good choice for seafood place.Reservation is required when you pay a visit to this branch. The restaurant is crowded with customers. Overall ,it is a nice dinner with good laughter.

The crispy chicken and steamed fish are regular items that we usually order when at Longbeach. They won't disappoint! On top of those 3 dishes we also ordered iron plate tofu and xiao bai cai in a thick mushroom broth.

It's a little pricey for food that could be eaten elsewhere but we had good service and a lovely ambience so it was well worth the money.

The rest of the dishes like the vegetables with abalone mushrooms are superb as well.

The very first dish, Canadian geoduck with salmon sashimi. We are given the option to eat it raw and dipped it in soy sauce with wasabi or cooked in the hotpot style soup, just like a steamboat style. I tried both style and I preferred eating it raw as I am able to taste the originality of the food, the freshness of the geoduck meat which is quite juicy and chewy. Moreover, the salmon sashimi is best eaten raw with the soya sauce and wasabi, I am savoring. It is well sliced and tasted fresh.

This is my second time at a Long Beach restaurant and this time its at the Dempsey branch. I have to say that the food was mediocore. I personally think the best dish was only the rice itself. The butter crabs we ordered were not that fantastic if i compare to other places like Melben, Seafood Paradise and Jumbo. I have to say though that the service was not too bad. Overrall, i would think it is highly overrated.

Had dinner at Long Beach @ Dempsey before my friend flies off to Auzzie! It was my first time trying deer meat. We ordered the fried deer meat. I was abit reluctant to try as I did not know how it would taste like. However, when I tried abit of it, I totally fell in love with it! It is so tender and soft! Unlike chicken meat which can be abit dry at times, this deer meat is so nicely cooked that it still retains the tenderness and is really super appetizing! I ate so much of it.

The recent visit to Long Beach @ Dempsey brought back some faith. One of my acquaintances suggested heading there when we arranged to meet for dinner one evening as her company host dinners there very often. Out of the set menu we ordered, I like their Steamed Clam with Minced Garlic, Fruit Sauce Chicken and Chilli Crab. However, even though we were seated in a private dining room, the noise coming from all over the restaurant was disturbing and the service level wasn't fantastic. Getting a car park lot is also an issue as the place is always packed.

Long Beach basically sells seafood, really good and fresh seafood. Their signature dishes consist of mostly crabs- the Popular Chilli Crab, Snow Crab with White Pepper Sauce and Claypot XO Sauce Sri Lankan Yellow Roe Crab with Bee Hoon as well as others like Scotland Scallop and Renowned Crispy Duck. I was here during a family dinner recently, we ordered many dishes. I remember having the steamed fish, honeyed ribs and chilli crab. Being a fan of crabs, of course I enjoyed the chilli crab best.

The pearl white flesh didn't stick to its shell and the chilli crab sauce was fragrant and heavenly. Also ordered a coconut drink to go with, it was a young coconut hence the natural sweetness and soft coconut flesh.

I came here - Long Beach (Dempsey) with my colleagues to celebrate an early Christmas dinner. We had been there a couple of times as most of my colleagues love the seafood at Long Beach.

We had a couple of dishes, firstly it was the Cereal prawns, followed by Chilli crabs, Alaskan king crab, “Dong Po” ribs with honey sauce, Chicken, Fried rice and Mushrooms.

The food was fantastic as the taste was just right, without being too sweet or salty. There were 10 of us seated at a table, total cost of $1000 plus. The average price for each of us was about $100 each.

The restaurant is quite inaccessible as we would require a car or cab to reach there, as public transport is limited.

Will I come back again? Yes, if there is an occasion.

my second most favourite is the chili crab. the crab as usual is juicy and sweet, but eaten with the delicious chilli sauce, yummy! the sauce is thick and spicy. very nice to dip with the crab!

the claypot XO sauce Sri Lankan yellow roe crab with bee hoon is another must try! the xo sauce is very tasty, when eaten with the bee hoon, heavenly. but it does not musk away the sweetness of the crab. i love the roe! so creamy and yummy!

a good place to take ur parents for a nice treat!

We ordered a set for 8 pax and it comprised of Black Pepper & chili crabs, steam fish, signature fried prawns, bamboo clams, vegetables and more. Their crabs were huge, as you can see from the picture. We had about 3 crabs for 8 pax. Pretty sufficient.
Both black pepper and chili tasted well. You definitely need to order their mini fried man tous to go with the chili crabs.

The prawns were fantastic and they were slightly different from the usual cereal prawns. They were crispy on the outside and the inside was still as tasty as it smelled. Thumbs up for them!

The fish and bamboo clams were very fresh. Definitely a good choice if you have a craving for seafood. Desserts were included in the set as well.
