went to long beach IMM for a simple lunch. Hence only order a lobster and a bowl of rice. You can have a choice of how you wanted cook the live lobster. I choose 金丝龙虾 ( with butter ) the lobster is very fresh and the meat is red and chewy. The crispy butter and egg stipes are very tasty , compliment the lobster very well. Furthermore, it is served very nicely presented. With an orchid flower and the lobster seemed to be alive and standing. Cost $100  continue reading

Long Beach Seafood restaurant is the creator of the Black Pepper Crab of Singapore. Long Beach has also created many renowned and now popular dishes such as Drunken Prawns with VSOP Brandy, BBQ Golden Phoenix fish, Renowned Crispy Duck during the 1980s, signature dish Golden Stripe Lobster in the late 1980s and House Speciality Prawn during the 1990s. Recently, Long Beach has introduced Dim Sum into their lunch menu at IMM branch. As a foodie, I was eager to order every single dim sum item in the menu. Since my family was also there, they can also help me to try their new menu.Garlic Dumplings. When the dish came, you can smell the aroma of pan-fried garlic. The garlic sauce was little spicy though with chilli oil and soya sauce as a base. the dumpling itself was full of fresh prawns, slightly crunchy with prawn sweetness. The dumpling skin was of right thickness and cooked to perfection, no lump of flour tasted. Deep Fried Beancurd roll. I especially like this dish. The beancurd skin was very cruchy and savory. Inside the filling was prawns, slightly cruchy. When you dipped the deep fried beancurd roll into the vinegar provided, the taste was fabulous, sourish, savoury, sweetness, cruchiness.Liu Sa Bao. My nephew liked this dish very much! The skin was slightly QQ type. When you bite into the Bun, the hot filling burst into your mouth! The fillings tasted of sweet custard and generous salted egg york. Steamed carrot cake. This was not the ordinary carrot cake you have in the hawker centre. There was not only generous chinese sausage cubes but also white radish strips in the carrot cake. Everything tasted genuine! Steamed Pork Ribs. This dish was a little disappointing though. The pork ribs though tasted tender and soft, but lacked of marinated taste. The sauce tasted good with fragrant fermentated black beans but it does not absorb into the meat.Xiao Long Bao. Hot and full of soup I would say. Inside the fillings consisted of fatty tender pork and many pork soup. The skin was too thin until it breaked easily when I used chopstick to take it. Overall, I would say you can give this Dim Sum a try. The prices were similar to those Dim Sum Restaurant. continue reading

Came to long beach for dinner the other day. Besides the usual dishes like chilli crab, black pepper crab and squid, this seafood place offers more unique offerings too. For example, I had the chance to try out crab porridge for the first time. The porridge was not too thick nor watery and had nice rich crab taste to it. Prices vary according to crab prices of that time. Other crab dishes are competent too. I particularly liked the chilli crab which was not too sweet unlike many other outlets. The ketchup and chilli sauce taste was well balanced and the combination of textures and taste was good. The seafood here is generally fresh and the crabs are all meaty and fresh tasting full of chunky meat in the sri lankan style crabs. continue reading

My first time patronising Long Beach although is so near my house and since is my birthday, a good reason to try out.Being the first timer but with some experience having crabs, we order the most common one, Chilli Crab. The lady server said this season is best to try Sri Lankan crab because of the good amount of crab eggs. So we order 1kg at about $52++ for 2 pax. We order also a small size Deer Meat with Ginger and Live Prawn Fried Rice.Deer Meat with Ginger: Meat is tender and chewy, goes well with the sauce.Live Prawn Fried Rice: Quite bland for the rice but probably is good because not too much of seasoning, prawns are springy and that means is fresh. Sri Lankan Chilli crab: Suppose to be Chilli crab taste but more of sweet and sour, the crab meat a little overcooked and lost the taste, probably is not fresh one. Plus point is, lots of crab eggs. continue reading

Having crabs at Long beach whenever I’m there is a must, and again, it’s no exception. I prefer crabs which are steamed instead of black pepper crabs etc. had the 7 course meal for 7 adults and even so, the meal was very filling and thus we had to takeaway the fried rice. Had fish maw soup, clams with garlic, roasted chicken, steamed fish and dessert too! The food was good! But the best had to be the crabs!! Service on a whole was good, the dishes came very quickly to the extent we even had to ask them to slow down because we were not done with the previous few dishes. And because our family is big, we were given our own space and thus the ambience was good. continue reading
