It is best eaten with Sour Cream and Spring Onions.

I have tasted quite a few Rosti from different restaurant.
So far the best taste or number 1 Rosti is from Marche.
The taste I personally give 5 star.
If you are looking to celebrate an occasion with your love ones and need good environment and service, yes you defintely can consider Marche.

Food
Pretty decent variety of food available at customer's choice. As usual I'm quite impress in their business system - "you pay for what you eat" using a card to accumulate the bills.

Chosen the smallest portion and was given the smallest bowl to fill it up with vegetables. Cooked in olive oil, all vegetables are of healthier choice. Baby potatoes are crunchy, mushroom are spongy and fluffy, broccoli somehow are over cooked for me.

My friend had actually ordered the pork knuckles. Phew! this time round, there is no strong smell of the pork. High quality pork and fresh. The skin was well prepared and roasted till golden brown. Love the crispy bite on the skin.

The rosti station's queue wins any other station's queue hands down, everytime without fail. This plate of rosti disappoints me. It was not well prepared, exterior abit cripsy but it was very moist inside, most probably the cook has overlooked the timing while multitasking (chatting with colleagues, handling the pans and collating orders). Additional coarse pork sausage has strong "porky" taste. The bad encounter during my purchase irritates me, one of the customers in front change their order after the staff had keyed into the system. The staff have to look for a "white card" to clear the order, this incur additional time.

My all time favourite drink in marche - calamansi. We have to keep on stiring and mix the lime with the sour plum in order to get a glass of chalky water. There then, the drink will taste perfect.

Service
While taking my utensils at the station, I dropped a spoon onto the ground. Immediately a staff who was standing by my side picked it up and placed it their cleanup tray.

Ambience
On a monday night, the business and crowd were scarce. This place is very family loving and friendly. They do provide play area for kids and sometimes staff will offer balloons to kids.

Price
Considering its freshness and quality, I will say you pay what you get.

Recommendation / Tips
Although this time round the rosti doesnt taste as expectation. I will still recommend Rosti with sour cream, hopefully they give a better preparation the next round.

A date with Friend from HK
Just OK 2013-03-13

Food
Decided to bring my HK friend to have some special food. She mentioned that she doesnt want to have something local. Therefore I brought her to marche where she can have more choice of food. She is quite shocked that we have stuff restaurants in singapore and like it very much.

I ordered the Rosti with sausage, as usual there are always long queue for this! 20 minutes of my waiting time. Pototoes are shredded by the machines and cook till quite cripsy. I have added a chicken sausage. Always love the sour cream as it is so refreshing and blends in very well with the rosti and with the spring onions sprinkled on them!

Friend mentioned that she is deprived of vegetables during her visit to Singapore and there she took a plate of vegetables looking so satisfied. I joined in the fun and enjoyed the plate of healthy vege with her!

Lamb with smashed potatoes is extremely filling considering that we have rosti in the meal. Smashed potatoes with gravy is good however the lamb do smells abit and I dont really like the smell of it.

Service
Service is ok, the staff will show us the seats when we entered the restaurant. Staff are well trained and manner.

Ambience
Packed with people and the warm lightings are very welcoming especially suitable for gatherings.

Price
Relatively Ok!

Recommendation / Tips
Rosti is good. Add more sour cream if you like them. It is always good to have marche in groups so that you can enjoy more variety of food.

Paella & Rosti
Just OK 2013-03-11 (Related Review)

Spanish fried rice (paella)
This dish is full of ingredients. Every grain of the rice can be "felt on its own". It is really flavourful but taste wise for a paella, it did not win me over as I have tried much better paellas elsewhere. Nonetheless, this is worth a try.

Smoked Salmon Rosti and sausage rosti
I find that the smoked salmon is way too salty but I love smoked salmon so much! The rosti goes well with the sour cream. Sausage is so-so only and I find it rather expensive for such a skinny sausage.

Swedish food
Smile 2013-03-05

I was here on a sunday for dinner. We came early - about 5 plus- hehe because we were scared of the super longgg queue Marche is known to have during peak hours!

The two of us ordered the Smoked Duck Hoisin Pizza ($24) and Swiss Rosti with sausage ($15) and potato with bacon bits.

The rosti was great as usual, and paired well with the sour cream. The duck pizza was large and the slices of duck were tasty.

Overall, this meal was extremely satisfying and I really ate to my heart's content! I would definitely be back for the duck pizza and rosti smile

awesome crepes
Smile 2013-03-03

Came here on a friday night for desserts at about 10pm and was so thankful they were still open! I ordered the crepe with chocolate sauce and banana. It was soo good! I am a sucker for crepe and chocolates so this dessert is a hit for me. It is rather big and filling though. Perhaps it will be better to order this for sharing if you do not have much space in your stomach!

Smile 2013-02-10

Marche's dining concept is truely unique! They offer a wide variety of food, and the theme of the restaurant is very prominent and captivating. On top of that, the food offered is good and is of an affordable price, especially if you dine here during lunch and get the lunch specials offered! This is sure to become a regular haunt for both me and my family members!

Makan Time at Marche
Smile 2013-02-07

Greuzi.... Its hello in Swiss German since i would call this closest to the language and culture of this place. I could be wrong though but hey wth.. Food is an international language for 'Awhhhhh'. Ok so, what could i say about this place..

Well there is only one word to describe it... and it comes from Ron Simmons "Farooq" and that word is 'DAMN!'

I went here on evening to get my fix of steak at the delicatessen and looked around for other stuff.

I have always looked over the small stalls but came to found out at the soup stall they were serving mushroom soup.. I was hoping that it was freshly made and not the Campbell's Mushroom Soup.
I saw this freshly made soup and "DAMN!" i was gonna go get it! Served with croutons and pepper.. this was a perfect starter for the meal.

Of course in the meantime, i went to order my rib-eye steak which was done in a medium well as i cant eat the meat that is too red and un-cook due to health conditions. It came perfectly with the baked potato i ordered.

For dessert... wait... what dessert? I was too full but the crepes there looked so appetizing with the movenpick ice cream and toppings...

The ambience: A very smooth oak smell place with well done lighting. The payment method is also good.. We get a card, cash the value to the card and pay at the checkout. What a convenient method!! Seats are comfortable, staff is great and friendly.. very welcoming... Queues are not very long... except the rosti at times but... i cant blame them... Rosti is good as well... with egg and sausage and sour cream... mmm mmm...

Yummy!!!
Smile 2013-01-26 (Related Review)

My friend was with me, she recommended me to try their Pizzas, as their Pizzas are her favourite dish there.
Their pizza sizes are all large, contains 8 pieces, serves about 2 - 3 persons.
Initially, I wanted to order the Chicken Cheese Pizza but due to my skin allergy I was put on a no-birds diet for a period of time, so finally I ordered the Margaritta Pizza instead.

It was my first time eating a Margaritta Pizza and I had NO REGRETS.The Margaritta Pizza was $17.90.
The size of the pizza was super huge!!

And the pizza was extremely CHEESY!! So much of cheese!!!! Cheese lovers can die for this!! mad
The crust of the pizza was ultimately thin!! I love it because it was so crispy!!
When I had a bite on the thin crust together with the cheesy sensation, it was the GREATEST feeling ever!!!
We loved this pizza except for my cousin, because she prefer thicker crust -_-"
Health freaks will find this pizza too cheesy and oily though.Their pizza is a MUST-TRY!
Great service and conducive environment.
Love the way they renovate and decorate this restaurant.
Will come back to try MORE FOOD!!

Rosti
Smile 2013-01-25 (Related Review)

Went to Somerset 313 to dine at Marche the other day as I was quite hungry after shopping.
It is very convenient to get there since it is just above the Somerset MRT station.

I was really attracted to their Rosti because I could smell the fragrance of the 'grilled' potatoes even I was a few meters away from the Rosti Stall.
Hence, I ordered a plate of Plain Rosti for $6.20.

he portion of the Rosti was sufficient for a person.
It was very fragrant and hot when it was served.
The outer layer of the potato slices were crispy while the inner part was soft.
Simply marvelous!!
I ate it with tar tar sauce.
Still prefer rostis from Medz though, since they are cheaper and they both tasted the same smile

Will come back to try other food,
Great place to dine in, wide choices of food.

Aunt's Birthday
Smile 2013-01-23 (Related Review)

Yesterday was my aunt's birthday.
So after considering so many places to have a nice and lovely birthday dinner with her,
I finally decided to treat her a meal at Marche @ 313 Somerset.

Marche is a fancy restaurant with wonderful and well decorated environment serving all types of Swiss food.
I can tell that she really enjoyed her dinner yesterday because she have not been there before, and the food we had were really awesome!!

We only ordered 2 dishes as we both are small eaters.
There was just too many types of tempting food to be ordered!
Thus, it is advisable to bring more people together, so that we can share and try more food!

We ordered the Salmon Steak from the Seafood Stall because I am a Salmon Lover lol
The chef there was very kind and pleasant, he offered to serve me potato salad together with the salmon steak.
However, I rejected him because I just had potato salad for lunch. So he was very nice to give me some preserved ginger as appetizer instead! tongue
He also asked if I wanted the salmon to be cooked, or medium rare when I returned to his stall earlier than the given time.
So here's my Salmon Steak which costs me $16.20.

I had it medium rare together with the preserved ginger salad, tar tar sauce and some lemon juice.
The steak was not oily. And the whole dish was extremely fragrant. The fish oil smell was simply fantastic!!
The salmon was SUPER FRESH! The flesh was soft and tender, and the outer skin was slightly crispy!!
I mean ALL the seafood there are very fresh!! Fresh seafood, cooked and grilled on the spot for you.
How can it not be yummy?!?!

I also ordered a large vegetable pasta from the Pasta Stall, because my aunt loves pasta
and the ingredients displayed at the Pasta Stall seemed delicious.

The vegetable pasta was $12.90, it should be served with tomato sauce by default,
since the dish was written as "Vegetable Pasta in Onion or Tomato Sauce" at the signboard.
I requested my pasta to be served in white (cream) sauce, and the chef was alright with it smile

The portion was just nice, quite little I would say.
However, it was super filling because the cream was very thick!!
I just had a few bites and I was already full.
Although the pasta sauce looks very fat and thick, but when I had my first bite,
it felt as if I was in heaven!!! lol
The sauce was thick, milky and creamy, so if you're concerned about your weight, please ask for tomato sauce!
I find the vege (celery and mushroom) in the dish was quite little though.

It was an extremely satisfying dinner at such beautiful and peaceful environment.
Love the theme of Marche!!
A little bit pricey but the food definitely worth the price!!!
The service there was very good as well smile

Strawberry Cake is LOVE
Smile 2013-01-21

I was shopping with my friend in Somerset until I came across a Marche restaurant, and my friend was telling me that the strawberry cake from Marche is really nice. So I went in to have a look at their cakes. I was very attracted to their cakes as they were all really pretty, well-decorated and looked delicious.

Their cakes are not as expensive as their food there, I don't know why.
$5+ for a piece of cake! Not very expensive right? So I decided to buy one to bring home for supper that night.

The service at Marche was very good, their employees were very friendly and polite.
The environment there was also very nice. Love the theme there. Really a good place to sit down and enjoy eating there.
My cake was very well packed, as I wanted to 'takeaway' the cake.

Really great packing.

My strawberry cake which has soooo many strawberries topping!!!
My aunt stared in disbelief when I told her that this slice of cake only costs me $5+.

It was a very big slice of cake, I shared it with my cousin.
It was still very filling although I ate only 1/2 of the slice.
The cake was quite buttery but it was still very nice, the texture was very rich and smooth!
The strawberries were quite sweet but I'm okay with them because they still tasted great!

Overall, this slice of cake was very worth trying!!!
I will make sure that I'll come back to try more cakes from Marche!!! smile

Marche Review
Smile 2013-01-18

Marché is really huge and when you enter the restaurant, it's like another world altogether.
It's super huge with chairs and tables all about and a marketplace like arrangement in the centre when we can order our food.

Love the setting and the countryside cottage-y feel. smile

We were both given a card each and whenever we wish to order from the respective stations at the 'Marketplace', we must bring this along so that they can scan it and charge it to our bill.

There is no menu, so you just go around the stations and order what you want.
Very good strategy they've got there, because one is likely to over-order. tongue
It really feels like a buffet place, with soup, pizza, pasta, grilled meat, desserts and even chocolate fondue session!
There was a chocolate fountain there too!!!
Didn't manage to capture a photo of it though!

Some beeper thingy which is given to you when you order and will start sounding to inform you to go back to the respective station to collect your food when it's ready! Love it!!

Swiss Rösti w Chicken Cheese Sausage (SGD14.20)
Tried this highly raved food over at Marché!
Rösti is basically a dish consisting mainly of potatoes.
I felt that it was okay, not as dope as many claimed.
Sour cream sucksssss, but the sausage wasn't bad. smile

Smoked Duck Breast with Hoisin Sauce (SGD23.50)
Loving the sauce and how it complements the duck breast!
Tomatos were real fresh but hate the chunks of thick celery in it!

Salmon with Veggie Pasta (Tomato Sauce) (SGD17.90)
Similar to the pizza, the tomatoes used were really fresh!
Like really tomatoey fresh, not those canned kind of taste.
And they were really generous with the salmon helpings! smile
Love the al dente spaghetti!

We were really full already but then we saw many people ordering soup so we decided to give it a try! smile

Cream of Mushroom (Small - SGD5.60, Big - SGD6.40)
We got the larger one!
This soup is better shared than drank alone for it's really a huge portion and you'd get sick of the taste after a while because it's really very mushroomy.
But I love it though! smile

Marché Crepe (SGD8.40)
You get to choose what sauce and fruits (strawberries/blueberries/mangoes)!
Love everything about this.
SO SO yummy! smile

Love this whole Marketplace thing at Marché and I am definitely going back with a larger group of friends to try more varieties next time!
There are so many different stations I have yet to try.
Two of us can't eat THAT much and spend THAT much too.

By the way, I feel Marché has this strategy of making the food look as though it's like a buffet kind of thing so people will tend to spend more.
Like yours truly who keeps having to convince myself that it is not a buffet and I can't just eat whatever I want. ._.
Furthermore, they charged everything to the card first so people will most likely overspend!
So be sure to check how much have you spend if not you'd get a shock when you make payment at the cashier later!

nice pizza
Just OK 2012-10-17

the pizza here requires you to cut it with a pair of scissors which they provide. very odd. would prefer a proper pizza cutter. anyway, it's because the pizza is so chewy that why you need a pair of scissors. the dough and crust was very very good. fresh, crunchy, between thick and thin, and nicely chewy. the toppings were very sparse. almost nothing on it!less than 5 leaves of basil. some cheese and 3 slices of tomatoes. so sad! but it tasted good. takes forever to arrive at the table as they have to make it from scratch when you order! about $23!
