With celebration mindset and get along with friends. We reserved buffet lunch in no time. The decorating was Chinese New Year and food with Japanese style. We tasted almost all dishes with delight. First duck meats , BBQ pig and teriyaki porks in stick. The served is warm. With delay, we go for scallops and big crabs and prawns. They are really fresh and spongy with wasabi sauce. Then comes all sushi rolls sharing with shark fins soup. I like the salmon sushi as it is soft and topping with margarines. The seafood soup is reserved by clips. Possibly need to wait a while before you can dip in. The recipe is sufficient for one pax and soup is nice like miso eggs. We also try the salmon fishes raw with wasabi. That's was heaven and dame fresh. Finally ending with all cakes and fruits. The fruits is normal compared to other branches but still as fresh as organic. Total spend more than 3hrs. 😀😀😀. The service throughout is very good and empty plates are clear effectively with reminders. All member like this restaurant and huge room for everyone to walk along the tables I means. continue reading

Full review & more pics - http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2015/06/king-crab-buffet-dinner-at-momiji_12.htmlEvil sista saw a value-for-money King Crab buffet ad on social media, and initiated an impromptu dinner on a weekday. We picked the City Square Mall outlet as it is conveniently located along the NEL. The Jap Buffet restaurant on the 5th floor was pretty huge, spanning over 3 shop spaces.Unlimited supply of King crabs, Snow crabs and also Sapporo beer (till 1930h) at only $39.80++ for weekdays. Full payment must be made at the cashier before entering the restaurant. The dining area is spacious but table to table spaces is very tight. Buffet spread occupies a third of the restaurant space, consisting of 150 selections of Japanese food, sushi, sashimi, chilled seafood, teppanyaki, shabu shabu, agemono, yakitori etc. etc. And the dessert spread includes Haagen Dazs ice cream, chocolate fondue and waffle making station, on top of the usual cakes, pastries and fruits spread. Check it out here...The varieties were definitely impressive, but how was the taste? Hmm...I would say go for the chilled seafood, fried foods (agemono), chawanmushi in the steamer, sushi & sashimi, and refrain from touching the cooked food. The cooked food were cold, like they've been sitting under the aircon for over 4hrs at least, tastes awful!Oh by the way, the DIY waffles and the ice cream were awesome...save space for them!Cold and disgusting! Not bad, chicken wings were niceNot badSeafood quite fresh, avoid the tofu! Not badTastelessNot freshTastelessGood!Good!Thumbs up!Even though the food here is more misses than hits, there are some gems to be found and are rather worthy of the value-for-money price tag. Just come with the right expectations (keep them reasonably low) and whack the King crabs, sashimi, beer and Haagen Dazs ice cream!Momiji King Crab buffet prices and restaurant info: continue reading

Among buffet, I would always prefer Japanese one. Thus I came Momiji, on one of the day after working with my colleague to achieve work-life balance. Reservation in advance was recommended, it was to avoid and cut down the waiting time for walk-in queue. Dining area was spacious with all the tables in well arrangement, ambience rather cozy with wooden stylish décor. Wide range of food selection, staff was polite and attentive too.I must say the food at counter was comparable to any high-class established restaurant, but it failed to refill enough to cater to every patron or I was slower hand to grab. Anyway their Grilled dishes such as Enoki Bacon or Scallop were tempting, each of them served in pretty small portion. Attached my number clip on my favourite food, I ordered everything to try. The chef cooked on the spot, action was efficiently quick. Delicious to the max no matter their marinated taste or natural tender, BBQ was slightly burnt with appropriate fragrance and tangy for my liking. Kaminabe wise, the pot was stuffed with assorted veggies and meat. Hot soup was very hearty, served up warm with decent sensation. Towards the end, dessert choices were not too much. I just simply took some fruits and chocolaty, endless sweetness. Price was $43.80++ for adult during weekday, little steep yet worthy for big eater. continue reading

I decided to make a reservation as crowd somewhat expected given its popularity. I attempted to do so by written a private message to the administrator of their facebook page. The response was a pretty quick one and the reservation confirmed as stated in the reply. I was there on time but was a little taken aback when realised the reservation was not listed. Nonetheless, a table for 2 was quickly assigned as we happened to be amongst the first few there that morning. The restaurant was not too crowded then so i kinda speculate reservation for a small group might not be necessary. We were expected to pay up front before led to our table by a friendly waitress. The brunch buffet is priced at $37.80++per pax. The highlight of this buffet was the Snow Crab, Wagyu Beef, Kurobuta, Sashimi and free flow of Sapporo Beer. The most popular item was no doubt those legs of Snow Crab. It was almost gone when i was there but the replenishment was pretty prompt to meet its demand. There were also the fresh tasting scallop, salmon and prawn sashima available right there. There are those little clips with the table number on the table to be used in ordering the Teppanyaki and Sukiyaki dishes. The most popular has to be the Wagyu Beef Teppanyaki. The clip was to be clicked along the signboard to order and it was then served right to the table when ready. The meat was served raw on hot plate with slices of onion and black pepper sauce added. The black pepper sauce was rather well-balanced and even a non-lover like myself has not much issue in accepting it. You then cooked it to your preferred doneness to give it the perfect texture to suit your palate. It generally tasted fresh with just the right amount of black pepper sauce to give it the right flavor. We tried the Snow Crab Sukiyaki. It was served with a chunky piece from the joint of the leg with enoki mushroom and vegetable. We enjoyed it with extra pieces of Snow Crab legs added. We managed to try the Kurobuta Sukiyaki too. Both tasted equally enjoyable. The grilled Enoki Beef Roll is a must try item. It was served in 3 pieces on a hot plate. The texture of the beef was done just right to go with the enoki mushroom and the sauce complemented it nicely. Some of the items from the buffet spread including a wide range of different types of sushi for selection. The Yakitori were pre-prepared and left it for selection. It was still a tasty choice that i enjoyed pretty much. There were an extensive range of fried items like Fried Salmon Skin, Prawn Tempura, Potato Cutlet etc available. And, there were a limited selection of cooked foods like Fried Rice, Beef Stew, Seafood Spaghetti and Stir-fried Broccoli available on that day. One of the most popular choice there got to be the Mentaiko Scallops. There were so many clips left on the signboard leaving a little space for more. The waiting time was slightly longer. You might want to take note that a clip is only for a single serving. If you want more then you are expected to put in more clips and it might be a wiser decision to save waiting time as it could be quite lengthy. The waiting time was definitely worth while as we enjoyed the nicely done scallop served with mayonnaise. The selection of desserts was decent. The choices including different types of cakes, cream puffs, chocolate eclair and the famous Haagen Dazs ice-cream served with waffle biscuits and cones. The free-flow of Sapporo Beer is only limited from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm. There is a counter beside the drink station for redemption upon the presentation of receipt. Each person is only allowed to redeem a bottle at a time. You are expected to bring back the empty bottle to redeem for more during that specific 1 hour. The buffet spread though not too extensive but it is still a better choice as compared to the other supposedly famous Japanese Buffet Restaurant though the normal lunch buffet at $24.80++ might be of a more value for money choice. It was a pleasant experience and i am likely to be back though not too soon.More pictures are available at http://www.allaboutceil.com/2014/03/sunday-buffet-brunch-at-momiji-japanese.html continue reading

Since my boyfriend was craving for some good food or sushi or sashimi, we decided to settle dinner at momiji for japanese buffet. Snow crabs was definitely the highlight of this buffet, for me at least, love it so much that I think I ate at least 8-10 of them while he enjoyed his wagyu beef and sashimi. On top of that, both of us love how they serve free flow of haagen daz ice-cream here as well! Dinner buffet on a weekend costs around $36.80++ but it's definitely worth it, for the wide variety of food, drinks and desserts (chocolate fondue, ice-cream, eclairs, etc). continue reading
