Though i am never a fan of mutton soup but still decided to give this popular mutton soup stall a try. This stall has been around for a long while serving teochew style mutton soup. And, that very much explained on the constant flow of customers when i was there. The selection for mutton soup is available at $4 and $5 to serve with white rice or yam rice. I decided to take away the $4 portion and requested for only the meaty part. It was nicely packed in a plastic container together with a small packet of chilli given. The portion was pretty decent. It was served with quite a few pieces of meat with shredded ginger and coriander that added a certain level of sharpness to the taste. And, that very much covered the strange taste that i detested too. The chilli has got a minimum level of spiciness but a delightful tanginess to go with the meat. The soup has got a comforting herbal-ish taste. A nice choice to go with rice or just have it on its own particularly on those rainy days. continue reading

Nice Mutton Soup in townVery reasonably priced at $3.20 (add $0.50 for a bowl of rice), New World mutton soup is concentrated with the desirable sweetness of mutton and the distinctive bitterness of herbs and spices, certainly appealing to die-hard mutton soup fans but probably not for the faint-hearted. The numerous pieces of mutton are indeed fleshy and tasty. continue reading

When I was young I did not really like the smell of mutton but as I grew older, I was exposed to more food, I started to like the smell and taste of mutton. This stall mutton soup is one of the reason why I love mutton. Their soup is so thick and tasty. It is very flavourful, seasoned with the right amount of salt and pepper. You can tell they put in a lot of effort in cooking the soup cos it simply taste so rich in flavour. The mutton is so tender and the herbal soup flavour had infused into the meat. The chilli here is mind blowing, very spicy but really goes well with the mutton. One mouth of soup, one mouth of the mutton with chilli is simply mind blowing. continue reading

Love the soup, love the ingredients, love the chilli!Thick, flavourful but not overwhelming, the addition of vinegar helps to ease off the rather herbal taste.Mutton meat is very tender and the bones are easily identified. If you accidentally chew on it, you won’t feel a thing either.Chilli is spicy, spicy, SPICY! Power! continue reading

Now this is a good place for herbal soup lovers! The herbs tend to ease off the strong mutton smell and the vinegar helps for those who want to mild down the herbal base. The meat is soft, and the bones are easily separated. The soup is really really smooth and the presentation of it is not that bad. Sorry for the bad picture, just couldn't wait to dig in!The chilli here makes you go on fire! A must for chilli lovers but I think I have low tolerance continue reading
