Located right next to Pine Garden's Cake is their sister outlet, Next Door Deli. One would expect them to sell tons of sweet cakes and desserts, but no. They only sell eclairs, chiffon cakes and some cheesecakes, nothing compared to their sister. They do let you buy cakes from next door and bring it over to eat. They sell mainly western dish except for the fried mee siam or fried laksa. 1. Tomato Basil Fish $7.80The fish was soft and tender, it didn't smell fishy. The tomato basil sauce was slightly sweet though salty at the same time. I enjoyed the fish, it was my "healthier" choice in comparison to the other menu options. However, the potatoes were too hard and the brocoli was tastless.2. Cheese Fries $4.50The portion was so tiny for $4.50. It was quite upsetting, so we ended up ordering another plate to share. The fries tasted meh... nothing fantastic.3. House Burger $7.80Very value for money, the portion is huge. The meat is very tasty and there is some chestnut chunks in there to crunch on. The meat patty was thick and juicy. The bread was nicely toasted and slightly crispy. The following dishes were ordered by my friends and they had positive comments about them.Since it is monday today, the website says that for every 2 mains, you get a 3rd free. There were 5 of us, but the lady at the counter refused to let us get a second main for free, as she said there must be 6 people present. Pretty lame if you ask me. continue reading

Came to this restaurant last night to have my meal with my fellow friends.  I have only ordered the grilled chicken, which is their popular dish here, which cost $7.80 per serving.  Portion served was not really that much and good enough to just satisfy one person.  Chicken meat was tender and juicy and the chicken skin was grilled till really fragrant as well.  THe mashed potato was served quite cold and was abit too dry. The garlic bread was also abit tough and not really that flavourful. Service was alright but not super friendly. Restaurant was small and abit warm. continue reading

For full review, please visit http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2013/12/next-door-deli-pine-gardens-cake.htmlNext Door Deli is unpretentious in it's decorations and furniture. It preserves some of the old school neighbourhood elements, yet infuse some of new age concept. As you walk into the cafe and find yourself a table, you will realise that there is a laminated sheet placed on the table that gives you an introduction to how to order food and drinks. The whole cafe is self serve from its drinks to desserts to main courses. That is the order you proceed through the cafe. We immediately thought of Ikea, like how you move through the different stations to get your food. Wok Fried Laksa ($6) was a recommendation by one of the patrons in the cafe. She told us that she would come to the cafe for this dish and Wok-fried Mee Siam, which alternates with Laksa every week. As such, I decided to give it a try! Laksa comes with a chicken wing as well. The laksa taste was fragrant and the food was comforting. It's worth a try for those who are seeking an alternative to the Western-style brunch.Crispy-grilled Chicken Steak ($7.80) was another popular dish of Next Door Deli. We felt that the chicken was quite well-cooked, juicy and tender. However, we felt that the dish could do with more oomph to make it stand out from other Western food places. Overall, we felt that the food at Next Door Deli is priced at an affordable price. They offer discounts for students and teachers on weekdays as well. We reckon that it will be a popular hangout for students studying in nearby institutions. We feel that Next Door Deli has the potential to grow into something bigger if it adds more oomph and uniqueness to its menu. One good way would be offering self-made coffee to increase its attractiveness. continue reading

This sister cafe is just beside Pine Garden and you can also buy slices of cakes from Pine garden and bring it over here to enjoy with your meal. They have an ongoing promotion where you can get drinks at 50 percent off here if you purchase any cakes from Pine Garden.I ordered the plate of fish and chips for about $7 and it tasted really normal. The chicken wings which are on promotion at just 90cents each is a better deal as they are big and juicy. continue reading

Chicken steak dish I had was pretty good. For approx $7, you get to dine in a cafe and the portion was decent enough to fill. I enjoyed my chicken steak very much. It was grilled to perfection and not too oily for my waistline. Besides that, we had a dory fillet as well. This dish was however a little disappointing. By right for the price of $6.80 in a nice cafe setting we should not complain, but perhaps we were having too high of expectations since our last visit. This dish was just average tasting. Go for the 90 cents chicken wing. Its super good. I wonder what's their secret recipe! continue reading
