A light snack at Old Change Kee at 313@Somerset. The Yam cake they are selling cost S$1.00. It is piping hot as they are freshly fried. The Yam cake is soft. It is very oily. There isn't any bits of yam in it so there is no yam taste. Just tasted like any carrot cake instead. continue reading

When I get to know that Old Chang Kee does provide breakfast menu, I took my chance to get some breakfast before work. There are quite a few items to choose from, so I decided to get the fried mee siam, which came with a separate gravy packed in small plastic bag, a few pieces of tau kwa and half of a hard boiled egg. Usually I prefer fried dry style mee siam so I didnt pour in the gravy. The mee siam is surprisingly tasty! It is not too dry and the spiciness is just ok, suitable for people who don't like too spicy food in the morning. I hope that the portion can be a bit more because it is not filling enough! continue reading

It's almost dinner time. You're hungry and your stomach is making all making crazy sounds, almost singing to let you know "eh! it's time to eat! But the person you're gonna have dinner with is nowhere in sight. Uhhhh how now?Pay a visit to old chang kee! They have a wide selection of fried delights, light enough to at least keep your tummy from rumbling till your date arrives. Usually, I'd get sotong balls. Fried sotong balls!!!! The mixture used to create the balls is perfect. Not too fishy, hence it's safe to say your date won't faint the moment you open mouth telling her it's okay when she explains why she's late. Oh yes, don't forget the chili! continue reading

the sesame ball here is very yummy. not as oily as most places, which was surprising. service is fast and efficient. the ball is larger than most places too. and only $0.90. it's served hot and not reheated. it's soft and chewy and fragrant and the sesame seeds don't fall off easily. it travelled very well without getting soggy or greasy. highly recommended for their consistent quality in food. their curry puffs are of course, wonderful as well. love that they have sardine puffs too! continue reading

Crab Nuggets Onstik = $1.60It's crispy on the outside and tender on inside. It has bits and pieces of crab meat mixed with flour to form the shape. However, the filling taste more of flour than crab meat. Gyoza Onstik = $1.30This is disappointing. The skin is very tough with little filling. The only good stuff is it's sambal chilli, lol ~ I'm sure many would agree with me ... continue reading
