Tonight I am attending a food tasting event at this casual Japanese restaurant which is known for its delectable Japanese style pasta dishes and paper thin crust wafu pizzas. The place is decorated in a simple and bright coloured way with white and red, and brights the place as one walks in. Delicious displays of dishes decorated the walls, making one feels so hungry.Chicken Teriyaki with Mayonnaise Sauce Wafu Pizza ($13.80/ Mini)Served on a wooden board, the pizza is very paper thin and cripsy with well seasoned and tender chicken slices. Maybe a bit salty for some.YakiNiku with Yakitori Sauce Wafu Pizza ($13.80/ Mini)Another paper thin crispy pizza, topped with juicy, tender, paper thin beef slices and sweet in the mouth onion slices. Another great combination. This event is to introduce the new cakes from Le Gateau Maison Premium Cakes. This new branding is launched to use the best ingredients to create cake and pastries, as well as, to tell a story in each of them. You can order them online from this link ( http://bit.ly/XzqBXG ). You can collect the cakes from Pasta de Waraku outlets or pays more for home delivery.Noisette ($8.50/ slice)Chocolate Sponge, Vanilla Sponge, Vanilla Sponge, Dark Chocolate Mousse, Hazelnut Praline Mousse, Chocolate GanacheIt tastes smooth and not too chocolatey.Doux Reves ($8.50/ slice)Chocolate Sponge, Almond Dacquoise, Dark Chocolate Caramel Mousse, Banana Mousse, Gold Silvery GlazeThis one is fruity, chocolatey and nutty at the same time. Quite a combination.LUX ($8.50/slice)Almond Dacquoise, Chocolate Sponge, Praline Feuillete (Crispy Crunch), Dark Chocolate Shiny GlazeThis one is my dining partner's favourite as it is the most chocolatey among the cakes which we have tried. It tastes bitter and smooth, balances off by its sweet honey comb taste and very hard to break Praline Feuillete base. Eugenie ($8.50/slice)Vanilla Sponge, Strawberry Coulis, Strawberry Mousse, White Chocolate Mousse Those who like pudding will like this one as I feel that its texture is more like pudding than cake. The layer of sponge cake is at a minimum here.Fraisinette ($8.50/slice)Vanilla Sponge, Fresh Strawberries, Blueberries, Fresh Whipped CreamAt first look, it reminds me of strawberry shortcake. It tastes quite light and fresh, except for the frozen tasting strawberries on top.Anushka ($8.50/ slice)Almond Dacquoise, Mango Mousse, Mango Filling, Fresh MangoThis is my favourite among all the cakes which I have tried. Nutty almond meringue holds the light and smooth mango mousse together, creating a balance between the two.Overall the food is great. The cakes has thin layers of sponge cakes to hold the thick layers of filling. I have only tried half of the cakes available in the menu. Do check out the website ( http://bit.ly/XzqBXG ) for the full list of cakes. continue reading

Fusion, I would call it - a cross between Japanese flavors and Western pasta. Yes, that's Pasta De Waraku for you. The casual restaurant was nothing to boast of - simple wooden, rectangular tables with simple, matching seats. A couple of Japanese paintings hung around the walls, but that was about it - no fuss, no muss.A simple garden salad consisting of lettuce and tomato was being served to us first, while waiting for our pasta dishes. Don't be fooled by the boring-looking combination - we had thought it would be tasteless, but on the contrary, the sweet-sour dressing set the vegetables on a tastebud rampage - it was oishi ("tasty" in Japanese)! The first pasta dish - the Scallops and Asparagus Spaghetti - was strong in a delicious garlic-based flavor. Yes, the taste was surprisingly good, and the spaghetti of the right texture (springy, not too soggy). Infused with the goodness of two of my favorite ingredients - bouncy scallops and crunchy asparagus - this dish made my evening. For more detailed information and photos, please visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2013/12/dinner-at-pasta-de-waraku.html continue reading

The pizza here is definitely one of the outstanding items sold in here. For less than $30, is really worth the price. The pizza crust is very thin and not too dry. The large fresh prawns topped on it are very crunchy and juicy. The mild amount of melted cheese really make it fragrant and not overly sauced. Scallops are also very juicy too. Restaurant is very cosy and spacious, service is prompt and friendly too. continue reading

I went to Pasta de Waraku with roommate for brunch in a lazy Saturday. The seats in restaurant were nicely arranged and warm smoothing light provided a good ambience. Staffs were generally okay, one of the young girl served us with smiling face and appeared patient while we taking our orders.Providing many choices of Pasta, I was wondering which to be picked. At last, I decided to try out their signature Pasta. It came with an extremely generous serving of large, the shrimps was fresh and springy. Too bad, the broth was diluted and watery for me. It tasted all right, just that I prefer thicker version for the paste. $16.80 for it, the price was not low enough to accept this unimpressive Pasta. continue reading

Tried this Teriyaki Chicken Pizza at this Japanese Restaurant, Pasta de Waraku for the first time and it was unbelievably delicious. The main ingredients on the top are only Teriyaki Chicken, Seaweeds and Mayonnaise but yet it still tastes good when the pizza was placed in my mouth. However, the amount of Teriyaki Chicken on the top is really little and this can be seen in the photo. The environment of the restaurant is good as the place is well furnished. continue reading
