Lychee cake no more
Cries 5 days ago

Top of the list: they are well known for their lychee cake.

It used to be so good! That was many years ago, more than 5 yrs probably? Or more..

The cake used to be fluffy and there is a distinct lychee taste. Been eating it for years until..... they have more customers and the standard drop... the taste of the lychee is very mild and the cake has a different taste.. different baker??

Wonderful cake
Smile 2013-05-14

It was my sister's birthday and we ordered her favourite cake of all time.
Lychee Martini cake from Pine Garden.

Their sponge cake is light and soft. It's cream is not thick nor overly sweet. The cake was topped with fresh lychee which was infused in lychee martini.
The lychee martini taste was not overpowering, the children enjoyed it either.
The nice thing is that it leaves a lingering after taste that was very pleasant.

Love the fact that it's very reasonably priced as well. $42 for 1kg is not bad at all for such quality.

The old-fashioned cakes
Just OK 2013-04-27

Pine Garden is my favourite bakery in the neighbourhood. I always go a few times per month. I love those old-fashioned buttercream cake costing from $1.50 to $1.80. There are a few designs to choose. The sponge cake is always soft with enough buttercream. These cakes have simple designs like those of old times. I always buy many pieces to share with my family at home.

Pandan Cake
Smile 2013-04-24

I believe for those who tried Pine Garden cake before will vouch for their yummy cakes! Luckily it's near my work place so if i get craving for it, i can get it easily.

Recently decided to get some pandan cake back to office to share with my co-workers. It's been quite a while since i last buy their cakes and the standard is still good. Very nice and fluffy soft pandan cake! It's really one of the best around =)

Delicious Cakes
Smile 2013-01-19

My friend's friend bought her 4 slices of cakes from Pine Garden for about $20, which means they costs about 4 - 5 dollars each piece!! smile
And what's great was she was willing to share her cakes with me!!! Hehe!! So I managed to try all of them!!!

From left to right:
1. Black Forest Cake,
2. Orange Zest Chocolate Cake
3. Bailey's Chocolate Crunch Cake
4. Hazelnut Chocolate Crunch Cake

These cakes really attracted me because most of them were all made of chocolate!!!!

Black Forest Cake:
When I took the first bite, I could already feel the bitterness of the chocolate! It was not sweet - I totally love it!! The cake was made of 3 layers of moist chocolate cake with white cream. I actually prefer the whole cake to be made of chocolate without cream, though. There were also rum-soaked cherry bits in between the cake, which made the chocolate cake tasted more unique than the ones outside.

Orange Zest Chocolate Cake:
The texture of the chocolate cake was really soft and fluffy - just like spongecake. So I guess it's very healthy and not fattening because it was not buttery. In fact, I found it a little dry but it was still tasty and smelled awesome with the orange scent!

Bailey's Chocolate Crunch Cake
This cake was very special, the chocolate and coffee scent was very fragrant and heavy, there were also chocolate crunch balls in between the soft layers of the cake!

Hazelnut Chocolate Crunch Cake
Love this cake too. Just like Bailey's Chocolate Crunch Cake, there were chocolate crunch balls in between the soft layers of the cake! Very special and chocolatey, love the hazelnut smell too! Tasted better than expected smile

Overall, I find the texture of the cakes from this shop very good. Just nice for me.
The cakes are not fattening as not much butter is used - the cakes are slightly dry, but soft.
They looked very attractive as well!!
Perfect for desserts, parties, and celebrations smile

Pine Garden
Smile 2012-12-04

I happened to be passing by the area, so I popped over Pine Garden to get some affordable and yummy cakes for tea time. I bought a slice of Orange Zest Chocolate Cake and also decided to try their Blueberry swirl cheese tart. The Orange Zest Chocolate cake was a nice surprise- a blend of tangy orange fresh cream slathered between blocks of rich chocolate sponge cake. Both flavours actually went very well and every bite of the cake was really blissful. The cheese tarts were however, not as impressive. They were not too bad, the cream cheese filling was rich and packed with cheese flavour, but I did wish they could be more generous with the blueberry swirls, as I could hardly taste much blueberry flavour. It was fortunately not cloyingly sweet and went very well with the crumbly tart shells.

Cakes
Just OK 2012-07-24

I am quite a fan of their cakes. I have been going by regularly to get those slices of fanciful yet delicious cakes. And, i have ordered quite a few times of their regular cakes for various birthday celebrations. My all time favourite has to be the Strawberry mirror cake. There is strawberry cream sandwiched in between the layer of strawberry sponge cake coupled with the jelly layer on top decorated by halve of the fresh strawberry.

Pandan Cake
Smile 2012-07-19

This pandan cake from Pine Garden has been one of my favourite pandan cake since I was really young. The cake sponge is really soft and abit moist as well, which make it not too dry. The pandan flavour is fragrant and not overly coloured with too greenish colour. The price is reasonable and is good to serve at least four to five adults. Usually sold out quite fast so do be there early to avoid disappointment.

Milk bread
Smile 2012-07-16

Have been patronising this cake shop for quite a long time as their bread taste good, freshly baked everyday.
Decided to buy a milk bread as a high tea snack. Firstly, the milk bread has a nice spiral design pattern on the top of the bread and is made up of 2 colours. The milk bread has a very nice rounded dome shape. As for the taste wise, it has a thin layer of the milk paste inside the bread, light milk taste, soft and spongy texture, similar to the mexico coffee bun. Other than bread, this shop also sells a variety of cakes that contain alcohol. Price is reasonable and taste good.

Pine Garden Cake
Just OK 2012-06-14

Although I was never a fan of cakes and pastry, this lychee martini cake from Pine Garden's Cakes at Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 left me with such a lasting impression that I wanted to return for more.

Topped with a fresh lychee, a piece of lychee martini cake, which is reasonably priced at $2.50, comes with smooth sponge cake layered with fragrant cream and filled with small lychee pieces coated with martini. What I enjoyed most about this lychee martini cake is its irresistible sweetness that leaves a lingering aftertaste on the taste buds.

Besides its famous lychee martini cake, Pine Garden also has many other specially created cakes eg brandy cherry cake, baileys chocolate crunch cake, mango passionfruit cake etc

Strawberry sliced cakes
Smile 2012-05-02

This confectionary shop has been at Ang Mo Kio for quite many years already and they are really good with their wide range of cream cakes and pastries. My favorite here is their simple strawberry sliced cakes. The strawberries used are really fresh, sweet and crunchy. The strawberry fresh cream used on it are smooth and not too sweet. The butter sponge cakes are really soft and moist, which is also not too sweet as well. The combination of the creams, sponge cake and the strawberries really make this simple dessert a very delightable one and you would surely wouldn't mind to have more than one slice at one time.

below average bread pastries
Cries 2012-04-28 (Related Review)

not sure why there is so much hype and rave about this cake shop at all. finally went there to try. the service is very lacklustre and non-existent. their cakes are below average! the fresh cream tastes and looks like mock cream or fake cream. their chinese pastries are so overly flaky it flakes to nothing and you end up eating some flattened broken pastry pieces. the prices are a bit high for such poor quality. their breads are also below average. bread talk has better breads. indeed it's a very "neighbourhood" cake shop standard compared to places like cedele.

below average pastries
Cries 2012-03-30

look at my poor pastry. all broken up and i didn't even squash it. because here they make it so super flaky and fragile that it just shatters too easily. does not transport well. even eating out side the shop, you will lose most of your pastry as they flake and break off and fall away to the ground! not recommended. the filling isn't great either. the pastry itself is small and thin. plus the extra flakiness, i am left with not much to chew on! not recommended at all. over hyped place.

pine garden is still for blackforest cake..
Smile 2012-03-21

Bengawan solo serve’s the best pandan chiffon so far. As a “chiffon” lover, i was pretty disappointed with what’s served at pine garden. It’s not as moist and soft as compared to bengawan solo. Not even comparable to yummi chiffon. But they do serve good blackforest cake and cheesecake. Price is slightly higher than average neighbourhood bakeries.
