A pretty cafe that I visited quite a while ago with my friend. Couldn't say much about the food, which was decent but not impressive.Classic Benedict - $12My friend's order. To begin with, I'm not a fan of hollandaise sauce and egg benedict. Tried a mouthful to know the taste..... mmmm, mediocre. Let's move on. Shinjuku Incident - $11.50Innovative name but tasted just like a normal burger although the egg yolk looked so tempting. Must be my 'super' photography skills. KekeTokyo Connection - $9.50In layman terms, chicken meat burger. This tasted the best out of the 3 savory dishes. A pity that we did not have a chance to try the desserts, which Pique Nique is more known of. Oh well, it's just like going to MacDonalds and order milk tea which is not the signature dish. I think I should re-visit Pique Nique to try their desserts which are so eye-feasting before I can give them a fair critic. Visit http://fun-hideout.blogspot.sg to read more! ♥ ♥ ♥ continue reading

When Pique Nique first opened its flagship outlet at Takashimaya, Katherine* and I discovered it by chance on afternoon - we were both "in between appointments" and looking for a tea spot. Pique Nique was empty, but the pretty interior decor made us decide to give it a shot.Yes, their interior decor leans heavily towards Victorian / French vintage styles - pretty Queen Anne chairs, brick walls and a sparkling white setting. It doesnt exactly look tacky, but the lackluster of lavish factor it is trying to replicate is noted - nonetheless, it was still comfortable and soothing to the eyes. After browsing the tempting array of pastries at the shelves, I decided on a slice of Oreo Cheesecake. I am, and never was a cheesecake fan generally, but I don't mind trying certain flavored ones. The taste was quite alright - not too cheesey or creamy, and the aroma of Oreo's chocolately flavor was spot on. However, the cake was rock hard. No, the cake wasnt frozen and it wasnt an ice-cream cake. It was a very hard slice of cheesecake, so I spent a good portion of time stabbing my cake with my fork. By the time I finished half the slice, I was too tired to go on.For more detailed information and photos, please check out:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/01/tea-time-at-pique-nique.html continue reading

Pique Nique serves all day breakfast, burgers, spaghetti and dessert. This was my first time dining at Pique Nique. The restaurant provides a relaxed and cosy ambience. I decided to order a beef boloognese baked cheese pasta with tomato sauce and a poached egg on the top. Appearance wise, it looked really nice as it was served in a small pan. This dish was quite nice, however, i got quite sick of eating it after awhile, perhaps due to the 'too much of cheese taste' . continue reading

As I was craving for some macarons, the nearest I could find was pique nique and thus I decided to give them a try. I've ordered a few different flavours, lemon, strawberry, salted caramel, chocolate, peanut butter jelly and red velvet. Honestly, all these can't be compared to those at canele and TWG. The only two which I think are not bad at pique nique are chocolate and salted caramel, the rest are just mediocre. The shells are pretty stiff and it doesn't melt in your mouth. I would spend more on better quality macarons! continue reading
