The popular Ultimate Crab Feast has returned to Plaza Brassiere at PARKROYAL on Beach Road for the 5th year and will be available till 26th June 2016. Fans of the crustacean can anticipate a tantalising line up of crabs, prepared in 8 different flavours, that will send you on a licking spree!
In addition to the 6 evergreen flavours, Executive Chef Jackson Goh introduces 2 new flavours this year- Spanish Crab and Mediterranean Crabs. I especially love the latter, where bold flavours and spicy notes enthral the taste buds.
Other perennial favourites include: Chilli Crabs, Cereal Crabs, Honey Rock Crab, White Pepper Crab, Black Pepper Crab and Salted Egg Yolk Crab.
My favourite was the robust White Pepper Crabs with the creamy Salted Egg Yolk Crabs, a close second.
I like how the crabs were fresh, meaty and succulent. If you’re the type that go for pincers, there’s no need to dig around for the prized body part as every chopped piece of crustacean has one.
For a taste of India, don’t miss the Roti Pratas, flipped a la minute, paired with Crab Meat Masala. Superb!
Apart from crabs, the buffet also offer the usual works such as:
Chilled Seafood with an assortment of sauces ranging from wasabi mayo, sweet Thai and Salted Egg Yolk.
Sashimi is cut only upon order, hence maintaining pristine freshness.
Cooked dishes are Asian delights such as Nonya Chap Chay, Lamb Curry, Nasi Briyani, Roasted Duck and Roasted Pork Belly. Children will enjoy the Tempura Prawns and Fried Chicken Tenders.
Head for the Noodle Live Station, where the chef whips up a mean Prawn Noodle Soup. The broth was soo good, I could not resist having a second helping.
Desserts are mostly revolved around Asian flavours, with some creative twists. The Peanut Mille Feuille was a standout, while the hazelnut obsessed will take comfort in the Hollandaise Nutella Tart.
Apart from confection, the buffet also offers an series of chilled shot glass desserts (my top pick is the Oreo one), as well as hot and chilled Asian desserts such as Bubur Pulut Hitam, Green Bean Soup, Red Bean Soup, Cheng Tng, Iced Jelly Peach and Chin Chow Lychee.
The Ultimate Crab Feast buffet is definitely worth the calories (AND cholesterol), plus, the best part is that it’s only $68++ for lunch (Sundays only) and $75++ for dinner (daily). What excellent value!

I like the range of desserts and icecream in this restaurant. For icecream lovers, you’ll be spoilt for choices. There’s cone, mashmallow, and lots of toppings to go with it – gummies, nuts, raisins, colourful sprinklers etc. Even if the icecream doesn’t taste nice, the range of toppings would make one eager to try out the icecream. There are also a range of nice cakes – I like their kueh lapis, nice eggy taste and not too oily. The chocolate cake is also nice. Some of the cakes may not have very exquisite design but they taste good inside. Staff clear dishes fast and are friendly and approachable. Children would love the dessert and icecream section.

We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. There is variety in the spread, though I think the range of desserts offered can be better. One of the dish I would like to recommend is this fried durian dumpling. At first I didn't know what it is, but was drawn by its unique design and the colourful sprinklers on top. tasted and it's yummy. Had 3 servings of it! hehe. Favourite of my child too.

The sushi and sashimi counter is the hot favourite with its never ending crowd. Sashimi is sliced upon order. The sashimi is quite fresh in taste.

Next is the noodle counter which has Beef Kuey Teow Soup for today. I have not tried it as I am too full for it.

I am surprised to find Hakka Abacus Beads (客家算盘子) next to the counter. The version served here is very tasty and flavourful, with a hint of the yam taste in the beads. Lots of mushroom too.

Lastly is the crepe counter. Crepe is made upon order and served with a range of condiments such as Maple syrup, Peanut Butter, Kaya and Chocolate Sauce. The crepe is quite thin but lack of crispiness.

Overall the food is great. Plates is cleared quite swiftly, despite having a large group of people.

Plaza Brasserie is one of the few buffet restaurants I keep going back to. The reason is their three-tiered chocolate cake (in the dessert section) which I can't get enough of. They re-arranged the dishes too, dedicating a whole counter for their CNY dishes. There was quite a lot to choose from that I had a hard time deciding.

So while I was contemplating, I started with the seafood broth first. It was quite savoury and you could taste the seafood in the soup itself. I can get full just with the soup itself. Then, I tried a bit of everything - the soft shell crab, fried pork, braised duck, and some veggies. They were quite filling that I wasn't able to go back for more. I tried a bit of yu Sheng too, and it was quite refreshing.... the salmon slices tasted very fresh. I ended my meal there with tuna and salmon sashimi.

Plaza Brasserie have this annual crab buffet during the crab season. They offer dangui crab and steam crab along with famous Singapore crab dishes Chilli Crab and Black Pepper Crab. They also had the fried salted egg crab and butter crab. Personally I preferred the steamed crab as the other crabs were too oily. After eating one or two you wouldn't feel like eating more. The rest of the buffet spread was good and up to their usual standard.

As well as a sushi bar which serves fresh sashimi, sushi, tempura for the Japanese lover. The sashimi tasted fresh and that's the best thing I could ever ask for in a international buffet. They're got small portion of dishes that is make of crab meat, such as crab cake. Cool. The dessert portion is great as well, offering a wide selection of whole cakes and meringues.

There's a variety of different flavor crabs to choose from in giant pots and we were spoilt from choices. Such as crispy soft shell crab, nonya crab, salted egg yolk crab, chilli crab, curry crab, black pepper crab and many more! The salted egg yolk crabs is still my favorite out of all. The crabs were average as some of them were not fresh enough and fell short. Was disappointed that the cereal oat prawns and chocolate fondue weren't available on that day. Anw, nothing beats than to indulge in unlimited servings of crabs with different flavors, as well as seafood, sushi and desserts. I must say it's one of the most value for money buffets in town.

The sea cucumber is soft, though there are also hard ones, but it is still tasty. The pork is especially nice, the meat is very soft as it had been stewed for very long and has already absorbed all of the seasoning put into marinating it. For desserts, there is a DIY ice cream counter where you can add toppings to your ice cream, and cakes, as well as puddings. In all, I enjoyed it a lot. The pricing for adults for weekend lunch is $62++.

I am a fan of Japanese food, so I will always grab some sashimi from the Japanese section. The salmon sashimi is quite fresh and its colour is also very vibrant which indicates its freshness. I had 2 servings of the salmon sashimi. The tempura is also delicious. The batter is not too thick and it is crispy to the bite. The shrimps are also bouncy and qq and the shrimps are very sweet tasting. For an international buffet, I thought their Japanese section is quite well done. There is also cooked food, most of it is Chinese food like egg tofu, spinach and their signature sea cucumber with braised meat. I would think the cooked food will rotate so it may be different for different days. I would say the cooked food that I tried are all of acceptable standards. Teh dessert choices are more limited, but I love the ice cream offerings and there are also toppings which you can add to the ice cream. Overall, I had an enjoyable high tea.

While the taste was rather weird for me, it is an innovative way to present/cook crabs in a different form. I would recommend the braised sea cucumber with roasted pork for its hot dish which I am sure is frequently on its buffet menu. The sea cucumber is very tasty, and I had multiple servings of it. Another dish that I would recommend is the roast section, the hainanese chicken was rather good, it was tender. For desserts, that day we happened to have nonya kuehs which I enjoyed a lot as well. There are also ice creams and cakes and hot desserts like red bean soup. Service is also good as well, our plates are cleared promptly and water was topped up frequently as well.

Next i went for the prawns and boy they were fresh and big and it is cold to maintain the freshness.

The one specialty was the steam sea bass with Thai lime sauce , it was a medium one and no place else have this . need to order this fast as it takes time to stream the fish.

You will need to have this one to make this trip worth while.

Overall a nice meal but expensive for me .
