Plain pratas
Smile 2012-12-05

Happen to pass by this prata outlet on my way back from relative house and was really curious by the long queues at the cashier point. Moreover, as the fragrant from the curry and other dishes really attract me to have the urge to give it a try. As a new visitor of this outlet, I decided to try their basic dish, which is their plain pratas.

Even though it was quite a long wait of twenty minutes, but I am really happen see freshly made pratas are served to me. The pratas' texture are very fluffy and not too oily. Love those slightly over burnt texture on it which make it really fragrant and with that slight crispyness on it. The curry provided is also quite thick in texture and really suitable for dipping the pratas. If you are like me who love those thick gravy, do not be shy and go to their counter to ask for more curry gravy, its free of charge topping for you. At less than three dollars for two pieces, it is a really good deal and quality food as well.

Not to forget their thick milk tea which is equally delicious and great to have it with the pratas as well.

bought some discount vouchers from bigdeal.com.sg to try out this store, cos every time passby it was crowded .

Prata wala, sell not only prata , as well as rice , snacks , drinks etc .

went there on a wkend where we have to wait almost 20 min to get a seat , we ordered plain prata ,thosai , paper prata teh talik , teh cino etc .

The plain prata was soft , not so oily as for paper prata it was crispy and crunchy but lack of sweetness the sugar is too less , i like the curry not too spicy .

expensive meal
Just OK 2012-05-23

I was craving for indian food today, so I went to Prata Wala at Tampines Mall to try out their naan. I queued at the food counter to place my order. The counter staff asked me if I want to try their Tandoori naan set, it has two pieces of tandoori chicken, a few pieces of naan, a small scoop of nasi briyani, a piece of cracker and some sauces: curry, beans, green menthol. There was a side dish of vegetables consist of brinjal and green chilli.

A number was given and the food was served to me shortly.

I like their naan, it was soft and warm when served.

Their tandoori chicken was the salty version, I prefer the sweeter version.

Briyani was tasteless.

I ordered a cup of teh alia(ginger tea) to go along with my set.

Total cost of this meal is S$9.90(tandoori set) + S$1.80(teh alia). I find the meal expensive because the tandoori chicken pieces were not very big.

 only the naan is nice

egg prata
Smile 2012-04-23

i had dinner at prata wala. The prata there is kind of expensive as compared to those at the coffee shops. I ordered their egg prata, it was really large piece though. The egg was in the centre. The prata was freshly made so it was very hot and crispy when it was served. I love the buttery fragrant of the prata. It was served with a portion of curry. The curry was very tasty. It was a little watery but the flavours of the curry was there. The curry smell was rather overpowering in a good way. It was not too spicy too, tasted sweetish and sourish. The prata is also very chewy, just the way I like it. For $2, I think it is pretty worth it for its size.

Mutton Curry
Just OK 2012-04-08

Located at the basement level of Tampines Mall, the prata shop feature organised seats, clean dining environment, and polite service staffs. On the menu, you find almost every Indian cuisine you recognised: Murtabak, Uttapam, Tandoori Breads, Thosai, Thali, Briyani, and many more interesting names I am sure you do not know. On the menu, you find almost every Indian cuisine you recognised: Murtabak, Uttapam, Tandoori Breads, Thosai, Thali, Briyani, and many more interesting names I am sure you do not know. Although the prices are steep, the pratas are the usual fare. The portion for the mutton I should say is abit too little.

Prata Wala
Smile 2012-04-04

Had this Plain Prata for dinner. When the prata was served, it was piping hot. First bite. the prata was crispy and it have a little bit margerine flavor. The fish gravy was quite good. It was very flavorful and just the right consistency, not overly thick. Teh tarik was also good. I had requested to have it stronger and less sweet and it turned out just nice, with a nice tea flavor.

Early Breakfast Place.
Smile 2012-02-17

Good thing about this place is that it is open early on weekend at 8.30am. In time for an early breakfast before the 1st movie screening of the day. All other eating place in the basement is not opened yet except for NTUC supermarket. Therefore easy to find parking at Tampines Mall at that early morning.

We ordered Teh Tarik, plain Prata & Chicken Martabak. At $7.90 the price of the Martabak is almost double what you pay outside, but you can eat in air-con comfort.

   Chicken Martabak

I like that it actually used minced chicken unlike some place where they used shredded curry chicken which makes the martabak soggy. This version has a nice outer layer of crispy dough and filled with moist chicken minced. The free accompanying fish gravy was spicy and very tasty with the Martabak. The portion is enough for 2 persons to share.

The Teh Tarik is as good as any stall outside. It is strong flavour tea with milk and top with a frosty form,

They serve most Indian breakfast like Tosai, but biryani rice is available later.

I highly recommend this place for it tasty Martabak and Teh Tarik at reasonable priced food in a mall. We will go back again whenever we want a place to eat before catching the early morning show.

Wraps at its best!
Smile 2012-02-08

I stumbled upon this stall purely by accident as it was located at the basement of Tampines Mall. My friend and I, decided to give this place a chance as it appeared to be pretty packed with people; hence we assumed the food would probably be good and Prata Wala did not disappoint.

We decided to try something new as we were both getting sick of rice dishes for main courses. The wraps looked pretty tempting; I was rather skeptical at first as I have never tried an indian wrap but my friend assured me it would be decent.

There were two wraps that came as a set. Despite being vegetarian, the vegetable wrap was filled with delicious ingredients such as samosa bits, a variety of vegetables and a few different kinds of sauces. Strangely, none of the ingredients tasted raw as one might have imagined! It was not only delicious but healthy as well as really filling!

I rate this dish 8/10

This is one place that will always have me coming back for more!
