Sushi there is cheap but not as nice as sakae or other better sushi places. 99 cents promotion. Staff are okok only in terms of service. ordered main food also, ramen still ok. Wont really go back unless they improve their sushi spread and the quality. so even though is cheaper, still quite disappointing overall experience. We just ate till we feel full and left after.

Not really up to standard. Expected more
Just OK 2013-02-21

The food wasn't really nice. The rice was abit hard and not fresh. one white plate(cheapest) cost $2+, but they had this a la carte promotion which cost about 99cents each . My sis and i Went on a lunch buffet from 3-5pm. We are Suppose to eat for about 2 hours. But left after 45 minutes.

Overall service was ok, friendly staffs, just the food has to improve on its quality.

Lunch buffet..disappointing
Cries 2013-02-19

went to Ramen Ten for a buffet lunch deal . Was kinda disappointed by the selection of food available for sushi.
Had a bowl of spicy miso ramen but found it rather disppointing due to the texture of the noodle. The restaurant was relatively average filled but service was rather poor as we had to wait more than 5 minutes to get a change of cup .
The salmon sashimi portion was average for the pricing . We ordered some sushi not on the belt and it took quite a bit of time to arrive which by then we were quite filled up by eating those existing same simple rolled sushi.

Nice Shin
Smile 2012-07-31

I was there on last Saturday with my 3 friends, we were using the vouchers for their sushi buffet, the lunch time was quite crowded(luckily we made the reservation earlier). We were sitting far from the sushi refill station, so some of the popular sushis were taken away by other customers before reach to us. Hence, we asked the staff whether we can get the those sushis from them, they were very helpful and got back to us with some of their top seller sushis. Even the promotion includes of Ice-green tea but we also order the Chocolate Freeze and Mango Freeze, it is really nice, must try it!! For those non-buffet eaters please go for their Tom Yum Seafood Ramen.

Octopus sushi
Smile 2012-07-07

The sushi here are definitely one of the best seller and popular choice for the people who visit this restaurant. The japanese rice used in making the sushi are very soft, moist and very fragrant. Love those which are topped with generous amount of sweet.marinated octopus on it. The octopus are very chewy and fresh, and with the combination of the seaweed and rice, this sushi will definitely be able to impress you.

Sushi buffet & Ramen
Just OK 2012-02-29

For the buffet at Shin Tokyo, you get to choose one ramen (out of 7 choices), and all the white plate sushi on the trail. I had the tempura prawn ramen. The tempura prawns are tasty, but the ramen is kind of tasteless. The soup base is so not up to the bar!

My mate had the scallop ramen, it came out to be the similar tasteless ramen. Perhaps we should try their dry or spicy ramen.

Anyway, we then moved on to have the sushi buffet. To be fair, their sushi are actually quite good. I personally like the crab meats sushi stuffed in inari. The sweetness of the inari goes very well with the mayonnaise.

The eel sushi is well-marinated and grilled properly.

The wonton snacks is a no go! The outer sheet is too thick, and after deep-fried, the whole thing just turned so hard. Too hard to bite on and the filling is just too little portion.

The sweet prawn sushi is very fresh.

Another favourite of mine is the sushi roll with prawn tempura inside.

Overall speaking, the standard of the sushi is acceptable good, because you get what you pay for. However, I reckon they should really improve the taste of their ramen soup base.

halal japanese food
Cries 2011-12-09

went down to try with mama because other places were flooded with people during dinner. we ordered a sushi platter and chicken ramen, we were actually quite excited about trying new food because the food on the menu looks quite nice and both of us were disappointed to the max. the sushi tasted even worst than those we can get off the shelve in NTUC for a much cheaper price and the rice they used were just normal rice, is far from what i call sushi. the ramen was the WORST thing i ever eaten, the noodle taste like maggie mee and the soup was like mee soto. i suspect because the place is halal so the cooking style is very different from the norm but the taste was just far from acceptable. and i will never step into this restaurant again

not for the non spicy people
Smile 2011-08-11

My second visit to shin Tokyo and I decided to order from their menu. I was looking at the sushi on the conveyor belt, it look very miserable and like it was there for some time. Of all the ramen, I went to choose their spicy chicken ramen, a very bad move, it has three chilli indicating it is very spicy. After eating, I felt my stomach flaring up but I thought nothing of it. it was until the next day where everything started, the runs… I think I burnt the inner lining of my stomach. I should not have eaten this ramen and chose the tamer ones.

lip swelling, sweat pouring ramen
Smile 2011-08-04

i bought a deal.com.sg coupon for shin tokyo and brought my girlfriend there for dinner. i ordered the mapo ramen and that was the start of my awful dinner. i know they stated 3 chilli there but i didn't expect it to be so spicy! my girlfriend took a mouth and handed the bowl to me and said she don't want to try it anymore. i took one mouth and almost spit out. it was so spicy! i only managed to survive one quarter of it before all the sweat poured and my lips swell. in the end i did not even finish half of it. but for those chili lovers, this should be your paradise!

1 for 1 sushi!!!
Smile 2011-06-13

I simply love the sushi at shin tokyo. The egg mayo is my favorite when dip into the soya sauce. Totally heavenly. I was so glad that they have this one for one white plate promotion. however the catch is that you have to take from the conveyer belt. However the sushi are all very fresh and delicious. My favourite is the egg mayo. The entire topping is very light. The mayo they use is light and refreshing. I am glad that they are so generous with their fish roe. Yummy!

   Spicy Mapo Ramen

I definitely like the noodles for Spice Mapo Ramen. Eventhough it's only ramen, the noodles are different like the normal maggi mee. It's on the chewy side. The soup base is tasty. Garnished with mapo, which is a type of tofu, and half egg. We can actually taste the japanese spices in there. A simple dish and best suited for lunch.

Poor Quality of Sashimi
Cries 2011-03-02

When they started operation, they had the $0.99 promotion for sushi on conveyor belt. After they ended the promotion, I no longer patronise them.

If you were to compare the quality of sashimi, Sakae Sushi and Sushi Tei easily beats them.

The only thing is that Ramen Ten is halal and muslims can enjoy sashimi.
