 Wanton Noodle.

 The Stall.

I was there for an early lunch.

The attractive signboard of this stall managed to catch my attention when i walked past. I decided to give their wanton noodle a go. The portion was quite substantial for $2.50.

The noodle has got the likable springiness. It tasted alright when tossed it well with the dark sauce and after nicely mixed in the chilli sauce. It served along with a few slices of average tasting char siew, vegetable and 3 pieces of rather old school tasting wantons in the soup. It tasted a bit like those KL style wanton noodle.

This might not be the best wanton noodle that i ever tasted but it is not disappointing as well.

Simple food.

Simple taste.

Korean Fried Chicken.
Smile 1 day ago

Crispy Chicken with fries & drink.

There was quite a long queue even during the off-peak hour like late afternoon. This Koren Fried Chicken is highly raved and recommended. A good friend even commented that this should be in the list of the must eat and to eat at least once in the life time food.

Their pricing is a tad on the high side for a fastfood outlet. Their selling point is the different types of sauces mainly Soy Garlic and Spicy to be applied on their signature fried chicken. I ordered a piece of fried drumstick with 3 pieces of fried chicken wings and a portion of fries with drink for $9.95.

I was a bit skeptical so i choose to have a bit of everything. The soy garlic chicken wings made quite an impression. It has just the right taste to enhance the perfectly fried crispy chicken. The spicy flavored drumstick was equally tasty. I was amazed by the surprisingly crispy skin and the absolutely tenderness beneath.

The fries with seaweed sprinkles were a good choice as well.

An enjoyable meal indeed.

Ayam Penyet.
Smile 1 day ago

   A number tag was issued.

The shop is nicely tucked away at a corner of the basement. The order has to be placed at the counter then paid up. A number tag will be issued then the food & drinks will be served to the table later.

There are different types of chicken dishes and juices on the menu for selection. I wanted the Ayam Penyet with a Watermelon Juice.

I proceed to my table with the number tag. The Watermelon Juice served in minutes to my table then followed by the Ayam Penyet in less than 10 minutes.

   Ayam Penyet.

The chicken drumstick was quite a big piece. The chicken might not be freshly fried as the crispiness was compromised and the chicken did not 'mashed' thorough enough like other Ayam Penyet dish that i tried. The set served with some shredded cabbage together with a piece of cucumber and tomato.

The chilli has got an extreme level of spiciness. The spiciness complemented the fried chicken really well though. I have no doubt that the chilli is indeed the star of this dish. And, if you have little tolerance of spiciness then it might be better to request to serve the chilli separately.

   Watermelon Juice.

The watermelon juice has got a good level of sweetness and tasted extremely refreshing with just the right amount of crushed ices to keep it chilled.

The service level was a bit laid back though.

Tasty Samosa.
Smile 1 day ago

   Samosa.

 The Stall.

It is almost like a love at first sight when i chanced upon the Samosa from this stall.

I wanted something light to go in between meals so i decided to get a Samosa for 0.70 cents from this stall to go. It did not have a particular attractive appearance. It was just a folded popiah skin into a triangular shape. It was of the palm sized with quite a generous filling of mushy curry potato in it. It has got a distinct curry flavor with a rather minimum level of spiciness.

I am interested to try others when i am back to this food centre.

Comforting Food.
Smile 1 day ago

   Mee Pok Dry.

Soup with a lot of ingredients.

 The Stall.

This is another noodle stall in this food centre. I was there on a weekday for lunch. The queue for this stall was equally long as the other stall. The service was rather prompt so the waiting time was not too long. The regular portion is $3 and the larger portion is $3.50 but if you prefer to have extra ingredients added then it would be $4.

Most of their customers ordered the soup version but i still prefer the dry one. I ordered the Mee Pok with extra ingredients at $4. A big bowl of soup served along with the noodle. I requested for extra chilli to be added but the level of spiciness still tasted rather minimum. It got a handful of bits and pieces fried pork lards added to the noodle to enhance its taste.

The soup tasted a bit bland as compared to the other stall but it has got quite a bit of ingredients like pork liver, lean meat, minced meat, fishball, fishcake and poached egg in that bowl of soup though.

I felt their standard is on par with the other noodle stall but i do think their noodle tasted a little better in term of the sauce mix.

This is my comfort food as it made me happy.

Reasonable Japanese Food
Just OK 2 days ago

Went to the Tontei Pork Restaurant at Nex Mall. It was during dinner time and we waited about 30 mins before a table was available. The service staff were proper and nice as they keep coming out to check on us in the queue.

Ordered the Set meal that comes with the breaded pork fillet and oden. It also comes with chawanmushi as well as a small serving of udon.

The pork fillet is pretty crispy and nice but its the chawanmushi that beat all hands down. Silky soft and with lots of ingredients inside. It's a waste that its only that small a serving.

Overall, reasonable japanese food with a crew of friendly staff, but the price is abit steep in my opinion. Tontei still did not make me want to give up returning to Kazokutei at Junction 8.

Nasi Goreng with Fried Chicken Wing.
Just OK 2 days ago

Nasi Goreng with Fried Chicken Wings.

Nasi Goreng with Fried Chicken Wing can be a delightful choice amongst the other items on western menu.

It was quite a good portion of nicely fried Malay style fried rice served with 2 pieces of their signature fried chicken wings. It is not a secret that IKEA serves one of the most delicious fried chicken wings. The chicken wings were well seasoned and fried perfectly to give it the desirable texture and taste. It still tasted good even if i take it away. The sambal chilli added flavor to the fried rice and that piece of keropok was a good addition.

I enjoyed it.

Rojak.
Smile 2 days ago

   Rojak.

Patience is definitely the key to this particular rojak. I tried coming at different timings but almost without failed, there is always a queue. I remember they used to a number system that allowed you to place your order then a number issued to allow you to come back later. Now, you got to physically stay in the queue to order then wait for your order.

I was there in the late afternoon this time. Again, there was a queue of about 15 people. I waited close to 30 minutes to order. I always go for the $4 portion. It was quite a substantial portion with a good mixture of tau pok and you tiao with slices of pineapple, cucumber, cuttlefish, beansprouts and other ingredients nicely mixed with good quality prawn paste before added in the generous amount of grounded peanuts to complete it.

This rojak is an ideal choice as appetiser and snack.

Chicken Rice
Just OK 2 days ago

 Chicken Rice.

 The Stall.

A rather decent chicken rice in this food centre for $3.00. The breast part of the roasted chicken tasted unexpectedly tender. The texture of the rice was rather grainy but soft. The chilli has got a rather spicy aftertaste till the extent that i felt my tongue has got a burning sensation. The spiciness of the chilli has overtook the taste of ginger and garlic in it. The soup has got a rather light peppery taste.

It was a pleasant lunch though.

Kway Teow with Soup.
Smile 2 days ago

Kway Teow with hot pot of soup.

I am very much a noodle person and this is one of the noodle stalls that i have been patronising regularly. The regular bowl of noodle is $3.30 but a bowl of such noodle with a hot pot of soup is only $4.00. It is definitely more economic to go with the latter.

My choice of noodle has always been the thinner version of kway teow with the extra amount of chilli added. It served with a fair amount of braised mushroom. The pot of hot soup came with a handful of ingredients in it. It has pork liver, lean meat, minced meat, fishball and a poached egg. The soup tasted rather light.

A simple choice but an enjoyable meal.

Crispy Chicken burger
Smile 2 days ago

This crispy chicken burger is a brand new product from McDonald. I heard from my friend that this is quite delicious so I decided to buy it to check it out. The counter staff here is quite friendly and the service was quite prompt as well. The burger was served really fresih to me in less than ten minutes. The burger bun was quite soft and light in texture. The chicken meat is quite tender and very crispy. It is also not too oily and the spices used in it make it really fragrant. Super delicious and my family and I also have enjoyed it at the comfort in our home sweet home.

Is BEARD PAPA!!
Smile 2 days ago

Actually I'm not fancy for their signature Vanilla puff, my favorite is Eclair...

Poking a hole into the bottom by tucking it in, she pressed the pump; the lovely custard swam into the tiny hole, just big enough, for everything to flow inside...

The filling was creamy without being heavy and it was sweet and fragrant without being overboard...

And I never regret for getting 6 pcs... mad

Dessert Time

Yea, going to Eatzi to have ice-cream. An escape from the unbearable hot weather these few days. mad
Located within Safra Yishun with a pool side view, it you happen to get a window seat.
Looking at all those kids playing with water, learning to swim... It really helps me to think of my childhood days too. smile

Ordered Tutti-Frutti. Firstly, cos of its cute name and fruits with ice-cream sounds like a great idea.
It comes with three scoops of different flavoured ice-cream, consisting of mango, strawberry and vanilla. smile
Diced fruits like watermelon, honey dew were sprinkled around the ice-cream.
And a big tuft of whip cream topped with a cherry. smile

I got myself invited to my Boss treat lunch and had a real treat at Imperial Treasure at Paragon... madmad

What other dish would one try at the Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck if not for the duck itself, and the duck certainly did not disappoint, with crispy skin thinly sliced melting in my mouth with each bite...The duck is great!!! You do get real Beijing Duck experience at this place!!

The quality of the food is really good value...
