coffee jelly
Cries 2013-06-07

Instead of having a main meal at Watami, I decided to opt for dessert instead. Considered a risky move as I didn't hear any recommendation regarding dessert sold in Watami. After much consideration, I ordered the Coffee Jelly from their dessert menu. First thing up, the presentation. I will rate it a 4/5 stars as I like how elegantly this dessert sit in front of you. Mysterious black coffee pairing with pure white milk and cream topping. Taste wise... sadly a 2.5/5 stars. There's surprisingly very little coffee fragrance to the jelly and the milk tasted quite bland. Don't think I will order this dessert again.

Stone bowl
Smile 2013-05-19

This rice served in a hot stone bowl is definietely worth a try! tge rice is fried with garlic and the aroma of the garlic is really fragrant and this makes the rice exceptionally delicious and tasty. The pieces of beef at the top also cooked well with the piping hot rice and this dish is really delicious despite no addition of sauces. Like the sweet corn that is found in the rice.

Jap Food
Just OK 2013-05-08

Watami is one of the popular japanese food chains in Singapore, it used to have extremely long queues when it first opened. The Clarke Quay branch has better ambience than the one at raffles city, and you can have a good view if you get the right seats. I decided to try their baked rice this time. It was rather average, and I didn't quite like the strong tomato-paste taste. But overall a pleasant dining experience

Watami Casual Dinning Place :)
Just OK 2013-01-18

Out of so many set meal choices watami offered, i have ordered the deluxe set for 2 at $69 with one choice each for Main dish, hot pot, side dish and drink together with 1 salad and Sashimi mori 3.
Food
For $69, we get to enjoy so much of the food. Portion is more than enough for 2.
Food quality standard is there!

Watami Salad
The salad is always very refreshing and somehow "open" & prepare our stomach for the incoming food.

Beef Sukiyaki Nabe
Dip the beef into the pot for a while and then dip it into the raw egg provided.
This is how one should eat this dish as taught by one of its staff.

Sashimi Platter (Assorted sashimi, 3 kinds)
Salmon, prawn and hotate. They are all very fresh and presentable. Appetizing enough!

Cheese Tofu
Tofu is spreaded with sticky and elastic kind of cheese on top of the tofu and cut into small pieces accordingly. When you "tear" a piece out from the group of toufu, it looks yammy and u can see the "string-liked" of cheese.

Pork Katsu in tamago
Dipped with shoyu, the fried pork makes it irresistible. Amazingly, its not salty.

Service
Will prefer their old usual Japanese style of ordering where waitress/waiter has to kneel down and take orders. This make the service outstanding. However, they dont practise this culture anymore. Good thing is that they offered seats for customer who are in the queue.

Ambience
As location is centralized, no doubt that food outlets here are packed with queues and noisy.
The seating with Singapore river view by the side is always not available. It would be great if one can dine with the river view.

Price
I dont mind to spend more on food like this. Worthy Pricing.

Recommendation / Tips
(1) Beef Sukiyaki Nabe
(2) try their fruit yakult drink
(3) Do reservation/be early to have a river view seating

Spending:
Approximately
SGD 35

Decided to go and visit this outlet as Korean are having long queues

Welcomed by the manager(Took 2 minutes)

We had Curry Udon While i had Curry Udon with Beef rice bowl.
We also had Bacon and Quail eggs as sides.

Nice view we got seeing the river and the lights and the few ghouls due to Halloween shocked

Ice Water comes with no charge and was ice cold.(No Lemon)

Food Came almost the same time but fast overall. The bowls presented are BIG!

Taste:The Beef was just right with no extra fat to go with the rice tongue

The Serving of seafood is ok 6 prawns for $15++?

The only thing happened is that my friend's quail egg went straight down his throat!

Overall we spent 45 mins and left, seeing a new staff dropping the utensils.

They changed their specialities since i last visited them but maybe i would visit again.

Watami - The Central
Smile 2012-09-08

For dinner, we went to Watami located at The Central. There was a long queue as it was dinner time, but we decided to wait as I was craving for the salmon rice here. I ordered the hot stone pot salmon rice which costs around $10. The rice was piping hot with salmon ingredients which tasted really good. I enjoyed the meal and would come back again to try the other dishes on the menu.

I had suki yaki at Watami. I love their suki yaki as i find it pretty healthy. The only thing i dislike was that the soup was pretty sweet. You can top up the soup without charges as well. The ingredients consist of thin beef slices, tofu, mushrooms and vegetables. You can choose to eat it this way or add a bowl of rice. The beef is really fresh and tasty. Tender and succulent! I will never fail to order this.

Watami
Smile 2012-07-18

Hot plate scallop is one of my favourite starter from Watami. I will never fail to not order this every time i set foot in this place. The portion however is a little small for me. 7 small pieces of hotate with a few strands of mushrooms and a quarter slice of lemon in the middle. Squeeze a little lemon to taste and scoop one of the scallop up to taste. Some of the sides are a little tough but all in all, it was delicious!

Hot pot
Smile 2012-05-05

I always been craving for pork belly meat and the one in their hot pot really suit my taste and at the same time it is not as sinful as those which are deep fry or barberqued. In this hot pot, smooth tau foo, shiitake mushrooms, sliced carrots, Japanese round mushrooms and decent amount of pork belly meats are found in it. With so many healthy ingredients n it, the soup base is really sweet and yet not that oily and salty. It is best eat with a bowl of their fragrant Japanese glutinous rice. The presentation is neat and nice and the taste is equally good as well.

Watami - The Central
Smile 2012-04-21

We had dinner at Watami at The Central where I ordered the Japanese omelets. It was served in a pan with the Japanese dressing and chicken flakes. The combination of ham and vegetables in it tasted great with the egg. It costs around $10 for the dish which I felt was worth the money.

Wow, Watami!
Smile 2012-04-20

So, my friend invited me for lunch and asked me what I wanted to have. I told her that I wanted ramen, so she suggested a couple of places I haven't tried yet. IN the end, we ended up at Watami.

I ordered their Watami Ramen without egg because I wasn't too hungry. Service was acceptable. It wasn't fast but they didnt make us wait too long. First taste of the soup and I was impressed! It was flavourful without being too salty! The noodles were not too soft. The other ingredients, except for the char siew, were also generous.

Since it was after work, the place was too crowded. We had to wait a while to get a table. Also, the tables are too near each other. If you're looking for a restaurant where you can have a chat with someone, this is not the place to be! When the waiter saw that we were done, he approached us and asked if he could clear the table. In short, he wanted us to leave so other diners can use the table.

I ordered the pork lunch set which comes along with salad, miso soup and drink.
Salad was served earlier as the appetizer
and it tasted pretty good as I'm a salad lover.
The rest were served soon after the salad
and we realized that we had to cook the lunch ourselves.
They provided us with egg and they helped us to switch on the stove.
So my friend and I tried to cook that ourselves and it was really a great experience!

I visited this place not long when they first opened as I had tried their restaurant in Malaysia and I simply love it and was glad they came to Singapore. But over here, everything we ordered from the menu was a far cry from what we had in Malaysia with the presentations, the taste and the quality. The pictures on the menu were similar to those in Malaysia but yet we were not given to what it supposed to be

Sukiyaki sets
Smile 2012-02-29

Went here for my BFF's birthday dinner, and since we had such a big group, we ordered 2 sukiyaki sets, which consisted of many dishes, which had char-grilled meats on sticks, fried potato sticks, tori karaage, and of course, the big pot of sukiyaki, which had beef in it, golden mushroom, veggies, tofu. I liked the potato sticks, it was very yummy, and they even had their homemade sauce to go with it. The tori karaage was crispy, and not chunky, which was not bad. The highlight was the sukiyaki, as everyone liked the beef, and the soup base. I also had a fizzy grape soda, which used grapes from Japan, and I liked it very very much, as it had a sweet grape taste that was strong, and did not taste like those cheap soda drinks you order elsewhere. smile Great place to have gatherings with friends.

Sumptuous Japanese meal
Smile 2012-02-19

The watami salad was one of my favourite dishes, the vegetabes were fresh and crunchy and the salad sauce was really tasty. The pork rice in stone pot was fragrant and the pork and rice were flavourful. The sukiyaki was average, the beef pieces were a bit too thinly sliced, and hence lack the bite and chewy feel. Other good dishes were the pork and cabbage wrapped in egg omelette and fried oysters.
