Kepak Bing Bing (SGD$12.50) - juicy and crispy chicken wings in a blend of chilli padi and spices. Juicy, yes; crispy, yes, and spicy, yes that, too - and a very heavy-handed dose of it too. I loved it though, being a lover of spicy food, and I loved the tenderness of the meat. I was on fire after eating a number of these appetite-whetting wings. It had a very familiar rojak flavour which I spotted immediately, and upon checking with the staff, confirmed that there were also shrimp paset and ground peanut tosssed into the mix indeed.

Next, Badoque Ribs (SGD$36.00) - tender beef ribs glazed in homemade BBQ sauce. Tender was almost an understatement as the flesh was so succulent, it slid off the racks easily, basked in nectarous and smokey BBQ sauce that made it very enjoyable.

Then Iga Bakar (SGD$36.00) - Indonesian-style beef ribs glazed in sweet and spicy soy sauce; served with fragrant basmati rice. Don't be fooled by the darkness of this dish - you'll brighten up the moment these ribs touch your palate - tasty. tender amd moistened, with great flavour to boost. The aroma of the rice added a nice control to the heavier flavour.

Badoque Cafe is almost a food institution of sorts, and needs little introduction. Since opening their doors in Simpang Bedok in 2008, the halal certified Badoque Cafe has gained a loyal following, amongst both Muslim and non-Muslim diners, for their gargantuan portions of tasty food, and excellent service. The long queues at Badoque Cafe still persist to this day, even with the opening of their 2nd outlet at Upper Thomson in 2014, and they regularly make the lists of 'Best Halal Cafes In Singapore'.

Ambience at Badoque Cafe is modern casual, with elements of industrial chic. The bare concrete walls are livened through quirky posters, while decorative lights hang from the ceiling. The showpiece 'bar' displays bottles of cordial used in their creative mocktails, while the black marble top tables and colourful metal chairs are solid, and can be shifted around to create seating for large groups. Offering both indoor and outdoor al-fresco dining, Badoque Cafe can get noisy during peak periods.

Service at Badoque Cafe is excellent, a true highlight here, surpassing the service standards of some high-end fine dining restaurants! Staff are friendly and welcoming, able to hold conversations, creating an casual, comfortable atmosphere, almost like visiting a close Malay friend's house. They're observant and attentive, acknowledging you when you call, and actually stoop / kneel down to take orders. Staff here are knowledgable on the current menu, able to make recommendations and provide basic information on dishes. Furthermore, they come around mid-way during your meal to check on how it's going, and get feedback.

Food at Badoque Cafe is primarily American, Italian, and Modern Malay cuisine. Badoque Cafe is known for their portion sizes, which are huge / giant sized, 1 dish is usually enough for 2 small eaters to share, or satisfy 1 large eater for the rest of the day. Most people cannot even finish 1 dish by themselves! Prices are very reasonable as well, comparable to most other mid-range cafes, budget about SGD $36 per person for a meal here.

Badoque Cafe has among the better versions of Hot Chocolate (SGD $7.50) I've had in Singapore. Their Hot Chocolate itself is rich and thick, with a deep chocolate flavour, and isn't overly sweet. Very warming and comforting, the large mug is topped off with chocolate fudge and chewy marshmallows, lending a layer of sweetness and texture. Highly recommended!

The signature Badoque Ribs (SGD $36) are a huge cut of beef ribs, on the bone, served on a bed of fresh vegetables such as carrots, long beans, and baby potatoes. The beef ribs are incredibly tender and moist, having been slow cooked overnight. Presented in an American style, their home made barbecue sauce is tangy and savoury with a slight sweetness, complementing the beef ribs very well. I honestly feel this might be the best beef ribs in Singapore! Highly, highly recommended!

We came on a weekend evening, and the area was packed. Stepping inside, we were greeted by the café’s modern decor – black painted walls adorned with framed pictures and pop-up alphabets, with the choice of an air conditioned or al fresco sitting area. The menu was vibrantly coloured, which is lovely, but it was also kind of hard to find what we wanted since the food items were all over the place.
On the whole, we found the food portions here huge, so we were speculating that was probably what kept the customers coming back, especially since we find that the food quality here wasn’t exactly top notch. That said, if you intend to pay a visit to Badoque, we recommend giving the Naked Salmon, Mango Yoghurt smoothie and Mango Soda a try.
Please refer to www.ieatandeat.com for details review.

We were happy enough with our lunch but not somewhere we will return though. The price of lunch was not too cheap too.

- after waiting for about 45 mins, this was served. Such a huge slab of ribs/meat, but its soft, tender & tasty. Good for two light eaters to share.  I need to come back for this again! However if you sit indoors, you might smell like a BBQ ribs after you are done with dining, a little poor ventilation but I don't mind! Although staff are busy, they didn't forget to serve us with a smile!

Hot and Sticky Drumlets (6 pieces for $7.50)
A fan of chicken wings/drumlets, how could I miss this? Finally getting our stomachs filled after feeding our cameras, my first bite was quite an anticipatory one, and satisfied by the sauce. The drumlets itself was, however, rather disappointing where the meat was slightly overcooked and on the tougher side. The sauce tasted good on its own, but didn’t manage to be infused in the flesh itself, perhaps with the lack of marinade. Good for curbing any cravings you might have, but don’t bear high expectations on satisfying it!

Crab served with Pie Tee (8 pieces for $9.50)
This was one that we got pretty impressed by, and caught our attention with its mentioning of crabs! With crispy pie tee shells and filling it ourselves, it was quite a fun way for us to prepare our own food and maintaining the crisp layer of the shell. The mixture itself was quite a surprising flavour that caught me off guard. I was expecting some chilli crab paste that might get a little monotonous after a while, but my first bite was a refreshing burst of pineapples in it! The combination might have sounded a little weird, but it went perfectly great when we tried it, as the pineapples they chose were crunchy yet having no tinge of sour-ness at all! The texture also helped break the monotony each mouthful, and the juices went well with the otherwise-jelat mixture. I would have preferred more crab meat inside, as I couldn’t really taste it in the mixture. A satisfying mouthful of goodness nonetheless!

Pumpkin Soup ($5.50)
It is said that pumpkin soup is a natural happy soup, with pumpkins releasing chemical compounds to lift your spirits and trigger feelings of well-being! This was quite an average rendition, with fine puree and a slight grated texture which I liked. I found it a tad too sweet for me though, and thought that the natural taste of pumpkin could be accentuated further.

Salmon Aglio Olio with Cappellini ($22)
I’m never a fan of aglio olio so this didn’t appeal to me but was a hit with my companion. She commented that she loved the flavours, and it was more robust compared to the usual aglio olios she’s tried. Perhaps it was the portion I took which had been missed out while being mixed together, I found it a little too bland for my liking. The noodles were cooked al dente, the way I like it though! The cubes of salmon were a tad too dry, and it was slightly overcooked hence the tougher meat we got. I found it a tad too bland for my palates and would have preferred a stronger flavour to go.

Mermaid’s Tears ($18)
This was one of the signatures recommended, and the plating had already won half the battle. Looking at the menu stating pacific dory fish fillet and creamy rice, it’d never occurred to me that presentation could have been so much prettier, creating an image of an ocean coupled with its name. My first reaction when I tried a mouthful of it was – omg so flavourful!

Very atypical of dory fillet dishes, I’ve always thought of it as a bland healthy dish probably due to its colours, but this managed to surprise me with a rich savoury burst of flavours from the cream to the freshness of the dory, accentuated by the dash of pepper they add upon serving. I’d also loved the rice accompanying the dory, slightly sticky with Japanese pearl rice used. I thought it was a good combination but after a while it tends to get abit heavy with the rich flavours, hence feeling jelat. Great for those who’re looking for strong flavours!

Beef Ribs ($24)
A meme on its menu stated, ‘when in doubt, order the ribs’. And I guess it pretty much worked that way for me. Not knowing what to order, I decided to go for the ribs, and find out what exactly was so highly raved about by Rozz. All of us got a shock when we saw the serving portion, with a huge rib bone sticking out just like that of T-rex’s. Immediately I felt too carnivorous having that by myself.
Can't wait to dig in with all that meat in front of me, I was pleasantly greeted by tender off-the-bone meat that was well-marinated to give a robust flavour with every bite you take.

With just enough fats (or so I think), I like how it helped to soften the texture of the meat, melting in your mouth with the lean meat. There was then a slab of fats nearer to the side of the dish that got a bit too overwhelming for me, that I ended up removing it for fear of choking up my arteries. Flavourful and tender, it made sure that my jaws weren’t working too hard, but there was just the monotony of the texture that I thought could have been better perhaps with more baby roasted potatoes to complement. I thought the portion was too huge for me, especially after 2 starters and the sight of it just reminded me how much I seemed to have eaten. If you’re feeling especially carnivorous, this would be the perfect dish!

A place of warmth and prompt service, it feels like every staff is extremely attentive to our needs and never fail to inject some fun and humour during our dining experience. We’d certainly enjoyed the food, albeit feeling a tad jelat after all the rich flavours. A place that I’ll visit again if I’m around the area and looking for some nice chillin’ space, but not one that I’ll specially make a trip down to Simpang Bedok for!

Our stomachs weren't growling or anything and we all agreed to wait for an hour. All for good food!

Though their seats are pretty limited, the atmosphere is very cosy and warm. We ordered a chocolate hazelnut milkshake first while waiting for the food. The drink didn't really taste like a milkshake though, it's quite diluted. An hour passed & we could finally order our food! My friend who been here once advised us to order 2 mains to be shared among the 3 of us. When the food arrive, the portions were really huge! The Mermaid's Tears consist of cream dory served with ginger milk broth and sticky sesame rice ball. Between the 2 mains, I prefer the Lamb Shank. Although it's quite difficult to pull the meat away from the bone, it tasted great! The Mermaid's Tears was good initially but it became quite gelat if you eat alot of it so lucky thing we all share. I must say that their service is commendable. The guy who served us was very friendly and attentive, he patiently explained to us the various items on the menu.

With such generous servings, I feel that the prices are very reasonable. Also, there is no service charge! Excellent service, good ambience, good food, I will definitely come back for more! Most likely to try their famous beef ribs!

This savoury dish is extremely deliciously as well as it is super spicy...Ultimate dish for the chili lovers. It was way too spicy for me though. I had to keep gulping my drink down - to the extent that I was pretty full and I couldn't finish my dish! But it was nice on a whole. Just a tad too spicy for my liking. I've a pretty low threshold for spicy. Sssst sssst ssst.

We were all feeling a wee bit adventurous and picked this dish by luck - we didn't even know what was the name of the dish. When served piping hot, we feasted on the dish. AWESOME. The garnish was so pretty! (The nest-looking thing on the top of the dish) And we love the mashed potatoes with the fish, accompanied with the fresh tomato paste.. Heavenly. Awesome on a whole. Not too pricey either. Love the ambience too!

It was at Simpang Bedok, not one of my favourite place because that place is just uber-crowded.

I went on a weekday, so the crowd wasn't that overwhelming (thank god!).
However, Badoque itself is a nice and cosy place to chill out.
They have seats al-fresco as well.

One thing i really must comment on, is their impeccable service.
The orders came fast and the sales staff are really very friendly and their knowledge of their food
is impressable.

I ordered the Slab of Steak. The servings was really huge, i got a shock when it came!
But i find it a little too dry for my liking.

However, all my friends loved their food! I can't remember what they ordered though.
We also ordered small pieces of cakes for desserts and it was yummylicious.

The icing on the cake would be, there's No GST and No Service Charge!
Seriously!! For that kind of service, and they are not charging service charge.. wooooaaah!
