cosy place

This is a cosy cafe that has pretty chilled-out ambiance. It serves quite standard western fare like steak and fish and the star is obviously the fries. Since that's the special, let's focus on the fries. I tried the truffle fries which is in vogue. The truffle taste was not exactly strong but the fries were excellent; very crispy and crunchy. We also ordered the garlic flavoured fries and the garlic taste was quite strong. Another tip: get the NZ Wild Salmon.

Grilled Chicken with fries
Smile 2012-07-29
Even though one of the main forcus food in this restaurant is their french fries, but in my opinion this is not my favourite choice as it just taste slightly better from the other restaurants but yet is still not that fantastic. My personal favourite here is their grilled chicken with pepper gravy. The chicken meat is quite thick and big in portion and has been grilled till really nice dark brown colour, which is very fragrant. Not too salty and not oily at all, which is also a much better selection as compare to those deep friend chicken cutlet.

Went to EVERYTHING WITH FRIES and the shop are really everything with fries. We had ordered the fries with cheese sauce. The chip came with some bacon chips also. The fries tasted nice and cruncy at first when it was hot, but after a short period of time, the fries start to tasted oily and the fries became soft. The cheese sauce tasted normal but it was quite nice also.

Fries
Just OK 2012-06-20

This is like a whole set meal. And, you will be quite full already after eating it . This fries is not a normal fries. It is a curry fries. And, it is not too spicy at all. The curry makes the fries even more flavorful. I especially like this curry fries. You should go try this fries. The meat is also quite tender and the sauce they put on top of the meat makes the meat more flavourful.

Everything With Fries

Something new on the menu. It looked great to me thus i gave it a try. I can't really figure out what kinda soup this is but it tasted a tad sourish and salty topped with a whole lot of fried eggs. My friend didn't like it as she find that it tasted really weird. I managed to finish up the entire bowl though. What get me going is i kept wanting to figure out what ingredients are used and by then, i finished it. Not really a must try and have soup but you can still give it a try.

i ordered a ham and cheese sandwich for a friend and me and on top of that we had a dessert. It was very very filling and satisfying. No charging lower prices and serving tiny portions for EwF.

Nutella tart - for chocolate lovers, though its hard to finish one your own because its so chocolatey

EVERYTHING WITH FRIES @ JOOCHIAT
Smile 2012-03-13
With each main course you get to choose what style of fries you'd like (chunky cut or skinny shoestring type) and what seasoning you'd like to add (Original, Salt & Vinegar, Sour Cream & Onion, Herbs & Garlic or Curry). Shoestring fries are hot and crunchy - not soggy, thank god. I'd give the Herbs & Garlic a miss. I *think* you get an option between a side of baby caesar salad or coleslaw - we weren't offered a choice but other reviewers have mentioned this point.

Definitely a must try... before prices go north again.

Decent
Just OK 2012-01-09
It's interesting how eateries are named nowadays. Some allude to hidden references while others, like Everything with Fries, tells you straight up what to expect from the restaurant. Indulge in my lameness for a bit as I can't help but think that this cafe's name is in response to the "Would you like fries with that" question. HAHA.

The eatery's stark white facade cuts a contrasting impression amongst the faded walls of its neighbours along Joo Chiat Road. Wait staff in pink tops and white shorts add to the overall "uplifting" ambience of the place. There is the problem of cramp spaces though. We got a seat next to the walkway and every time someone walked past, they had to squeeze their way in. Imagine someone's butt scraping past your table when you are eating. Definitely not a pleasant prospect.

Egg Soup - Apparently a signature and the only soup available on the menu, the one egg soup was essentially chicken broth with a slightly creamy texture and a sourish hint. The accompanying portion of deep fried whisked egg tasted a little like french toast sans the bread. Rather appetising I must say, especially with the addition of ground pepper.

Grilled Pork Chop - The pork chop's seasoning was quite good but probably a wee bit too flavourful for my liking. Grilling imbued it with a nice smoky taste but unfortunately the meat came across as a little too dry. And as the name of the eatery suggests, it came with a choice from a selection of fries (original, curry, salt and vinegar, sour cream and onion, garlic and herbs) as well as a salad, to balance out all that unhealthy stuff. I'm not too sure the fries were that fantastic though, nothing like my favourite fries from New York Fries.

Cheeseburger - My initial reaction upon seeing the burger was one of mild shock. The beef patty was probably only the size of 1.5 Macdonald patties, which is really quite small. Size aside, the texture of the patty was rather uneven, which probably means that it hasn't been machine processed. But I would have liked it a little juicier. The bun is purportedly made from scratch and I must say that I enjoyed it quite a bit. Light without being too dense and mildly sweet with a coating of butter, pan fried till lightly charred on the surface - very good!

Pear Tart - The nutella tart was sold out so we had to settle for the pear tart with an additional scoop of ice cream, which tasted suspiciously like Wall's ice cream. This dessert was a poor attempt at a tart in my humble opinion. The crust was suppose to be flaky but turned out rather elastic. And its a little odd if pear slices don't taste like pear. Overall still edible but don't expect much.

Dessert and cramp spaces aside, I must say that the meal was quite enjoyable, especially with the relatively economical price tag and chirpy service. I would definitely make it a point to return, but in the meantime, they might want to take a look into their table arrangement.

Everything With Fries
Just OK 2011-10-02
Everything with Fries really has EVERYTHING with fries. Their fries are very attractive as they come in many different flavours and we can choose from 2 sizes. Every main course comes with fries. I tried the lamb burger. It was good! Very tender and grilled perfectly such that it is not overcooked. Great meal! Great fries!

This is my second review on everything with fries but this time round i tried their terriyaki chicken sandwich. It tasted fantastic, however the portion is rather big.

As i've said in the previous review, everything comes with fries. You can choose two types of fries, straight cut or shoe string fries and there's four flavours.

Other than the fries, the main dish also consists of salad.

INDEED it's Everything With Fries
Smile 2011-08-10
My first visit to Everything with fries. The staffs were really nice and friendly, taking time explaining all their food and their popular dishes! She introduced us this Breaded New Zealand king salmon. I'm a salmon lover thus i tried it. The salmon was crunchy at the top and the meat practically melts in your mouth!!! SUPERB DELICIOUS and a definite must try!!! Side dishes come with green vegetables and I had their salt and vinegar fries. Didn't really like it though as it was a tad sourish due to the vinegar.. Their herb fries tasted much better! All in all, it was really worthy! I'll be back for more!

   Yummy salmon

Yummy Nutella Tart!
Smile 2011-06-29

   Nutella Tart

If you like rich chocolate dessert, than you will like this Nutella Tart. The base has a sandy and crunchy texture made up of dark chocolate biscuits. It is filled with smooth velvety hazelnut chocolate. This has gone up by $1 to $5.90.

Since this is opened by the famous Awfully Chocolate shop, you can be sure their chocolate items are of a very high standard even though prices are on the high end.

Remember to go home straight away if you are buying takeaway, as the chocolate in the tart started to melt as I reach home.

everything w fries!
Smile 2011-06-25
Located in the east, a western restaurant that serves everything with fries! Every main course which staple side dish will be fries, you can choose which seasoning you would like to have for your fries though.

I went for the Breaded New Zealand King Salmon, it was yummy and bursting with flavor. I remember there was the curry seasoning to go with the fries and I was tempted to but I decided to have mine plain as it is, it was still good.

My friends said the coleslaw was awesome but I was just fine by it, not a coleslaw fan to begin with.

Everything With Fries (EWF) @ Joo Chiat
Smile 2011-03-03
Every Weds will bring my baby boy back to parents' to teach piano. So every Wed lunchtime will think of where to go.

Yesterday tried EWF @ Joo Chiat. And to my pleasant surprise, my friend was working there and so i had a 20% discount smile

Tried the cheese burger with sour cream fries straight cut. It was ok. Fries had the sour cream taste. Probably may try the curry fries next time.

Also ordered the egg soup which was very unique as its like those you find in some chinese soups kind of totally golden fried egg, on top of a chicken broth. It tasted pretty good. I was feeding this to my baby boy...

Then took away one of their desserts. My friend recommended the vanilla crepe which was interesting as it had many layers till its thickness was that of a cake. I was peeling layer by layer of crepe and cream for dessert after dinner. Nice.

fries with yummy spice powder
Smile 2010-12-23
I went to try everything with fries after hearing a lot of my friends repeatedly how good it was. And it turned out really very good!

I order the grilled pork chop with their original fries and it turned out that the fries came with some kind of powder! Like mac’s shaker fries. So cool. The grilled pork chop was very tender and juicy, very delicious. But I love the fries the most, it was very crispy and the spice powder really brought out its taste. A really fulfilling meal!
