Riverside Indonesian BBQ

I have a soft spot for Indonesian grilled chicken. It's comfort food when you're having a particularly bad day. Riverside Indonesian BBQ is a well known name so you can expect the standard for their food. The BBQ chicken is dipped into this sweet dark gravy and you can ask the server to pour a generous scoop of their curry over your rice. You must get a big dollop of their chilli sauce. Sweet and slightly spicy and goes well with the meat and rice.

This Indonesian barbeque chicken is really good. I will always want to have this one in a while. The chicken is grilled to perfection with a special kind of sauce. When you order the set, it will come with a drink (to choose between orange or lime) and a small fried egg beside the chicken. You can also choose to ask to drizzle some curry sauce on the rice. I really like the taste of the sweet black sauce and it goes perfectly with the sambal chilli.

If you've yet to try Indonesian cuisine and you don't wanna splurge much. Try this for a start! This is not a place for big group though. Getting seats here is a slight challenge unless you're lucky enough. Oh do prepare wet tissues! The tables can get sticky and messy!

It only takes 5 mins from queing to giving your orders and to collecting them. Its that fast. Sad thing is, is not piping hot. I always enjoy my food hot. Rice portion is average, the curry gravy is generous just as the chicken. I love the marriage of the curry and the barbecue sauce mixed with rice. Good food for a reasonable price ;)

Last Wednesday, before I headed to my dance class, my friend and I went for dinner first. We went to Somerset 313 B3 and ordered a plate of Grilled fish set which costed us $2.50 each. The plate was served with rice, grilled fish dipped with black sauce and an egg. *Optional: you can ask them to add curry sauce as well

Overall, the fish was crispy but I find it a little too salty which makes me feel quite thirsty after eating :/ However, I noticed that the stall was quite popular which people are always queuing to order Are you drooling? The picture above shows two plates that we had previously divided. Don't you think the portion was quite big ? It's definitely sufficed to order one plate for 2 persons especially if you are going to do some exercise later

It was a relaxing day for me and ming Our plan is to meet up and have lunch before walking around town! We met up at 313 and decide to have our lunch there. Ming wanted to eat the Riverside Indonesian BBQ! I decide to have the same too as both of us love Indonesian food We ordered the same grilled chicken and i went to order the food. The service was quite fast and i lobe it that the grilled chicken has its own sauce and the rice has the curry sauce which the person would ask if you wanted curry. The lady that day ask me if i would like to add drinks or more vegetables and i politely decline knowing that we have our own drinks and that we're not heavy eaters! What's really surprising about their stall is that they give two grill chicken parts to us both each instead of the usual one whole chicken thigh. I love the sweet bbq sauce and that the curry is not too spicy! The chicken's very tender and as i predicted we spent quite some time having to finish all, maybe next time i could share with ming! You can do the same too with your friend if you're a light eater.

well, it's my anniversary month with my partner again... been having really good food for this past few months since we were together, been going for western, japanese and chinese food mostly.. so though we should go budget and try something that we don't eat often...

so ended up hunting for finger food @ Orchard 313. and came across this Riverside Indonesian BBQ, from one to two stalls away you can smell the fragrance some from the BBQ store.

So decided to go for it a try. order one chicken and one fish, so that we can share and try together. the service auntie is quite friendly and nice...

both BBQ chicken and fish is very nice, sweet yet a bit of spicy, the gravy goes well with the rice... the sambal chilli is nice too! too bad there isn't any curry vegetables to go with it or else will be a healthier meal if you know what i mean, a little bit oily though, but once in a while wouldn't harm.

the store do not have their own seats, hence you need to make sure you find one at the common eating around before you start ordering.

There's a lot of different fried foods on offer. Deep fried. Not really healthy but tasty because it is deep fried. Cheap and convenient. Makes you really thirsty and it's rather salty. Everything looks hot and golden fried early in the morning. Easy to locate and fast service. Not really recommended as it made me rather sick after eating it. Gave me a sore throat as well. No wonder there is a herbal tea shop next door. Liked the deep fried prawn.

Located at the food basement of 313 @ Somerset, it's sad that this stall which serves rather good-tasting bbq food is not as popular as its other branch at Plaza Sing's food court.

I had option #1, the ayam panggang. Rice as the staple, it came with a piece of bbq chicken tossed in an unique (fragrant and sweet) gravy and a slice of egg omelet. The staff will ask if you'd like to have curry gravy on your rice, I did. I like their sambal chili but somehow, this stall's seem to be extremely oily. Mixed cabbage can be topped up for an additional $0.80 but pity, they were out.

Down factor is only that the food will be served in a styrofoam plate with plastic fork and spoon.

I've visited this Indonesian BBQ over and over again. If you like Indonesian BBQ, you must try on the BBQ there! And the price is same as the price you found in coffee shop.

I've tried the grilled chicken, fish, and sotong. They've provides the combined set also. Chicken and Sotong set, Fish and Chicken set. Every set comes with a rice and a piece of egg. After they girlled the chicken, fish or sotong, they will dip it inside the dark sauce. I love the dark sauce and the sambal chili. I always see the boss of the stall monitor his staffs cook the sambal chili.

You may top up your set by adding $0.80 for the veggies or $1.20 for the orange juice.
